Tatort: Zielscheibe (2001)
Powerful
An extremely powerful episode with extraordinary camera-work and impressive performances. The makers proved to be masters of creating suspense and a riveting atmosphere. The rainstorm-showdown was a riot, as were the two private detectives as a "comedic" relief to the very gloomy and actually alarming plot. Very compelling and very different from other episodes of the "Tatort"-Series.
The Others (2001)
This movie really "turns the screw"
Being much more substantial and psychologically subtle than the overrated "The Sixth Sense", this exciting and touching ghost tale proves again that European horror movies will sooner or later outdo childish American flicks like the remake of "The Haunting" and tons of others. Hollywood watch out - your time is up!
23 - Nichts ist so wie es scheint (1998)
Interesting concept, but flawed structure
This film is very interesting as for its premise and its concept, but then unfortunately falls apart in the third act. It would have been more thrilling if there had been a real conspiracy against the hero. If there is something that German filmmakers can learn from Americans is that once a promising and intriguing premise for a thriller is set up the film will remain a thriller until the end and not steer into a relatively harmless pseudo-psychological drama.
Schrei - denn ich werde dich töten! (1999)
Too mature for its target audience
When reading most of the user comments here one thing becomes obvious: The problem with this film is that it is too mature for its target audience who only seem to be interested in butcher scenes. But if you belong to those viewers who are interested in other aspects in horror films you should give this movie a chance.
666 - Traue keinem, mit dem Du schläfst! (2002)
Extremely stupid, excruciating and painful to watch
Rainer Matsutani's second outing into the cinema is even more stupid, excruciating and embarrassing than his "Nur ueber meine Leiche." This film - which has no cinematic qualities at all - is not only painful to watch, it also leaves the odd feeling that the makers of this ridiculously homophobic movie do suffer from severe adolescent disturbances. And - what's even worse: it looks like one of those typical, cheap TV-Movies that lack atmosphere and soul. The absence of the latter is extremely detrimental for a film handling the subject of soul-trading.
