One for the Book (1940)
Great song and dance short comedy
This was a great short. The politically correct will not find humor in the minstrel part, but I find it great. The PC crowd looks for things to be insulted over...reaching deep into history if need be to find it. This was humor...nothing more so don't let your imagination run away with you. Betty Hutton was great as was the whole cast. You can't judge 1939 by 2001 standards. Lighten up, get a grip and enjoy.
Song of the South (1946)
A wonderful movie...
One of the most fun-filled and wonderful movies ever made. It is a tragedy this movie is not available. Come on Disney! Give it up!!!! This movie is pure gold next to the dross put out now. So much love is shown here during a troubled time in history. We may never see the like of it again.
The Paper Chase (1978)
Harvard Law School was never so much fun.
This was a most enjoyable series. It was designed for the more intelligent viewer. With rare exception, the characters were sensitive, intelligent and sometimes foolish enough to be totally believable. I taped most of the episodes and enjoy them even today.
Sadly, with John Houseman's passing, there will never be another Prof. Charles Kingsfield, though George C. Scott may have made an interesting one also. This is one I would like to see re-run.
The movie was good, but the series was better. Most can relate better to the real people of the series over the movie.
