Der Bunker - Eine todsichere Falle (1999)
Action made in Germany
A cool action movie isn't very often a German one! But this time it is! If you wouldn't hear the language you wouldn't know that this isn't an American movie. Especially the music and the camera views are very un-typical for German movies. If you like the Michael Bay movie "The Rock" oder the action thriller "Die Hard" you should watch "Der Bunker - Eine todsichere Falle" if you can get this movie somewhere (only German, no subtitles, because it's JUST a TV production)!
Comedian Harmonists (1997)
A Masterpiece, but...
Comedian Harmonists is truly a masterpiece! It shows that many Germans suffered under Hitler and the nazi regime too! But I can't understand why this great movie is rated R in US? The German rating is 6(!)! In my opinion especially young children should watch "Comedian Harmonists" to learn more about humanity and the hard life in hard times.
Knockin' on Heaven's Door (1997)
Not released in USA? What a pity!
KNOCKIN' is a very cool movie that could be directed or written by Q. Tarantino (without any violence). But that this is a German movie is nearly unbelievable.
I think it's very sad that this great piece of work wasn't released in the United States. This is probably one the greatest German movies ever made but only a few "Not-Germans" are able to see it. Perhaps there will be a subtitled version on the American market soon! But if you understand German, DON'T MISS THIS MOVIE!
Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls (1995)
Oh no! Please not!
I watched Ace Ventura II in the cinema. I JUST SMILED ONE TIME and the rest of the audience wasn't very pleased too! The first part "Pet Detective" was really one of the best comedies I've ever seen, I nearly laughed me to death! But the second "Ace" is (in my opinion) just a poor piece of crap! The movie is full with a totally different kind of humor than part one. It's not funny, it's just stupid!
True Romance (1993)
This is pure Tarantino!
Much violence & much blood in a movie called "True Romance"? YES! And this is what this movie makes so extraordinary! Violence and romantic are usually things you cannot put into ONE movie! And again Tarantino proofed us wrong! "True Romance" is funny, cool, bloody and (really) a bit romantic. Chris Penn, Christian Slater, Dennis Hopper and Christopher Walken are acting GREAT (well, they're acting great everytime)! I watched the US and the German (uncut) version, and I've to say that I prefer the German one. The cut scenes are, of course, very brutal but nevertheless they fit very good into the different situations, and make them sometimes even better!
