It was great!
9 March 2019
Enjoyed it! Everyone was fantastic and story was fun. Pacing was great and I never felt like it was bored or overcomplicated. Nostalgia was fun and apparently very popular lately. No major qualms other than it's not quite up to the same level as other Marvel films. But how about we enjoy it as a separate film and not spoil it by giving it a lower rating than it deserves.

Hero (2002)
Visually stunning, oddly fresh
1 September 2004
Warning: Spoilers
This film is spectacular. The fight scenes are magnificent and the special effects are state-of-the-art. The arrows being repelled in the beginning of the film is amazing and the choreography in the fight between Snow and Cloud is enticing; not only is the fight choreographed, the leaves, colors, sound, music, and general environment all mold into a spectacular five minutes of pure genius. The acting was nearly flawless. Though I did see the film subtitled, the expressions and movements said as much as the words typed on the bottom of the screen.

Not to say the film had no mistakes. I believe "Ying xiong (Hero)" had much in the way of story though had it not been for its excellent fight scenes, spectacular acting, and infinite energy, the writing would have more clearly been noted as flawed. Imagine a film like this one; written in English where the fight scenes were mediocre. In scriptform / bookform it would be entertaining, though I believe in cinema people may even walk out. Entertainment is about tension and release, this movie built up tension and in many cases failed to release because of the writing. Note: that I'm trying not to give away any spoilers. I personally did not enjoy the idea of showing the artificial stories like they really did occur and then returning and showing another one. However, I must admit, it definitely is fresh. I would have preferred a more timeline based story with artificial stories only being told, not shown. And more present action, not past memory.

However, these are very minor style details that I myself am questioning. Sometimes these kinds of movies just shouldn't be messed with. I give this 9.25/10. -.25 for writing disagreement and -.25 for flying martial arts (keep it realistic) and -.25 for an awkwardly placed love scene (forgot where it was).

The Haunting (1999)

Not as good as the first time.
20 June 2004
I remember seeing this and being freaked out of my mind. I told a friend that I remember writing a review five years ago that said it was the scariest film I had seen. How embarrassed was I?

I cranked the volume, turned off the lights, built up the movie, and watched it on a 36" (good enough I think); what a disappointment. Everyone was like "Well, I guess it was a little scary." Totally just easing my embarrassment in recommending this. It was quite strange. I mean, at times I was just like that was so stupid. And like, they did not just say that.

The acting was very iffy and with a pretty good cast, it was odd! The main character, especially, was not believable. I cannot believe how something can change in half a decade! Not the scariest movie I've seen anymore!!!

The Mighty (1998)
9/10
Rent it. Buy it. Borrow it. SEE IT!!!!
20 June 2004
I heard about "The Mighty" after I saw The Battle of Shaker Heights and thought I'd find more movies with Elden Henson. I find that he has an ability to play the stupidest characters well ("Idle Hands") and the most clever ("Shaker Heights"). Anyway, I rented The Mighty because of its good rating and strong cast.

It was not what I expected.. it was so much greater. I have seen more than one's share of films and trust that the Mighty will not disappoint. A gem in the rocks? Much more. I have never read "Freak the Mighty" but this movie has me out seeking a copy.

Of course, Rowland's and Stanton's acting was solid. Elden Henson's and Kieran Culkan's are stunning. I believe this is one of Sharon Stone's best performances and Gillian Anderson shows her ability and range. Gandolfini was also as strong an asset as anyone else. This movie was just filled with stellar performances and moments that just make the audience get into the scene.

I really wish this movie had been advertised much more. I mean, my seeing it was quite an oddity. Makes me wonder how many of these great unseen movies I'm missing. Rent it. Buy it. Borrow it. You will not regret it.

Great, not the greatest, but very good!
5 January 2001
This movie was very good. I thought that it needed a little more being that the scenes with the waves got kind of annoying. But, the plot was good and the ending was sad but fabulous. Okay, the ending itself wasn't great (being that it is a true story), but it left the audience...sad. Not many movies can do this.

Many have commented that this movie sucks because of poor characters. This is very rude. These --were-- real people, people. RESPECT THEM! Acting was great. Great job by everyone. And special effects were unmatched.

8.4 / 10 for The Perfect Storm.

NOT Pointless. Just beyond your level. NOT A waste of money!
30 July 1999
What is there to say about this one-of-a-kind movie?

This is one of the best thrillers I've seen, although, it isn't for everyone, some people think the movie was pointless, but it is just that this movie was beyond their level! I think that the most interesting thing about this movie was the curiosity of it. I mean, the writers took a big risk, you may be thinking, but it didn't cost them, but still, it was a big risk to leave you hanging.

When something would get to me and I wanted to see what was here or there or in there, I would get up from my seat like if I was there.

A lot of people are complaining that it was like a home video, that is a lie, the only reason they made it like that was to make it reach you more, there were although some rough parts in the movie, but it is just to help you get into it.

The thing about this movie isn't the movie itself, but your own imagination. The movie isn't what is as "SCARY AS HELL," but your mind. After you see this movie, I suggest you discuss it, it will add to the suspense. It should be part of the movie.

This movie is for only few. Some people simply don't understand.

Scariest Movie Of The DECADE!
23 July 1999
To tell you the truth, it was the scariest movie I've seen this decade. I think that the sudden shockers and the suspense made my heart skip a beat. If you want to see a scary movie, forget the rest, The Haunting is the one.

Great Casting Job.
11 July 1999
This is a great movie, I did the play a while ago. It had an extra zing-- to it. I loved Vanessa Williams as Rosey, and also Jason Alexander has a good voice. It was great. The setting were also very good. Except the fact that it is 2 hours and 50 minutes, makes it pretty long. Overall I give it 8.5 stars. They also added a few parts, but it was still cool.
