Dune Drifter (2020)
Cured my insomnia
I'll usually give a movie a go, no matter what the ratings and reviews are like. This movie, well, I'm kinda on the fence about. It took a long time to get pretty much nowhere. They could have done a lot more with it. As it is, I struggled to maintain enough interest to sit through the whole thing. But I did. All that time spent telling a story they could have fitted into a 30 minute tv episode. There's a lot of the main character walking. Leading to more walking. A bit of fighting, without anyone really getting hurt. Then more walking. Oh, did I forget to mention the amount of... walking? The only real interesting bit was the lead character (I didn't care enough to remember her name) had to keep trying to blow her hair out of her face inside the helmet. Basically, it could have been better (story & effects-wise), but it's one of those movies you have to see for yourself to make up your own mind.
Life Support (2001)
Wish the series ran longer
I loved this series when it first aired many years ago. Kinda had a 'thing' for Abbie Cornish back then, I'm not ashamed to say. Still do after seeing her in Jack Ryan. Recently started rewatching it, because of seeing her new shows, and it is still funny... well, in a kinda sick (the best) way. It's actually refreshing to watch something that is so politically incorrect. Despite being over 17 years old, the humour is still fairly current, and you wouldn't have guessed it was that old. If you can find it, it's well worth watching. Unless you're easily offended. If you are, go watch something that won't get your knickers in a twist. The weather channel, maybe?
Ritânâ (2002)
Great movie. Could have been better, but.
Even though this movie shares similar story lines and effects from other movies, I still thought it was a great movie. Kinda. If it was done by Americans with the help of better actors, it could have been one of the best movies of the year. Special effects are amazing, but it is let down by Japanese actors trying to act like Americans. The 'English' version didn't help with possibly the worst voice-over actors I've ever heard. Effects are there. Story is there. Shame the actors weren't of the same calibre. I'm actually watching the movie now, but with the original Japanese audio track, and even though I can't understand a word they're saying, some of the actors are actually pretty good!!! The voice-over people ruin it!!! I was going to give this movie a rating of about 5 out of 10, but now that I've watched it with the original audio track, I'm going to have to give it an 8!!!
George of the Jungle (1997)
Kinda grew on me
At first, I was not really struck on this movie. I enjoyed it enough to buy it on DVD, but it spent most of it's time on the shelf. That was until my 6 year old niece watched it with me. Twice in a row. One of the few movies she will actually sit there the whole time for, just staring at the screen. After seeing the enjoyment on her face I began to look at the movie from a child's perspective. Take your mind back to when you were a kid. Then press play. You'll enjoy it a lot more. And you'll also get to spend more time with your kids!
