Hard to follow last week's episode

Warning: Spoilers
Last episode was so shocking, exciting and emotional that this week was a bit of a let down. However, when I look at it without comparing it has merit. It continues to develop the backstories, especially Chen interacting with her father and Jackson. Some people are upset about him being gay but 10% of the population is so that doesn't bother me at all. The show is trying to reach a broad audience. Yes there was a jerk white Captain. I've worked under many of them and, as in real life, the Peter Principle was in play. Promote him until he can't cause too much damage. I loved the interaction between Bradford and Nolan. Bradford gave great advice, there was a little bit of humor (thanks Nathan), and mutual respect was shown. I was also surprised by interaction between John and Jessica. Great chemistry and some groundwork laid: she'll only be able to see John a few days a month. Interestingly enough, John looked insecure. Worried about being compared to a Navy Seal? Don't worry Nolan, she did pick you, you know!

Good episode. Overplayed drama with Jackson.

We enjoy "The Rookie." But anytime Jackson interacts with his "guy friend", it feels like it turns into a soap opera with to much drama. No one in real life is as sappy as these guys. I've seen teenagers with less emotional relationships and more secure than these two.

The Earthquake

Nolan is dating Jessica Russo that recommends him to the Assistant District Attorney Sean Delmonte to be part of the team that is protecting the dirty border officer Brad Hayes, who made a deal with the DA and now has a contract on him. Tim teams up with Nolan and they go to the safe house where Brad is. When there is a major earthquake in LA, there is also a breakdown in their means of communication, and they need to flee from the killers.

"The Shake Up" is a full of action episode of "The Rookie". There are funny scenes, especially when the ADA believes that Nolan is the head of the team assigned to protect Brad, who is a good villain. My vote is eight.

Title (Brazil): "O Terremoto" ("The Earthquake")

The good writers must've been on vacation for this episode

The good writers must've been on vacation for this episode because the entire story was cheesy and I would've liked some type of continuation from the last episode.

Getting a bit preachy
northsidebill28 March 2019
I really like this show but its already pulling a lot of the tricks that older shows past their prime have to do. Things like preachy episodes such as tonight and mental health, and bringing in big name stars. All they need to do to hit the trifecta is have a musical episode where they all sing.

Speaking of music, does anyone know what song was playing in the mansion where the rich guy had the automatic weapon was? Its really familiar but I cant place it.

Strike 2

For crying out loud you people in Hollywood need to stop ... Can you not just make shows to entertain us without shoving politics down our throat's? This is the second episode that's done it and frankly we're getting tired of it. This is a good show with a good premise and instead of continuing down that path you want to cram "Christians are evil nut cases, law-enforcement does a lot of bad things when dealing with mentally ill people, and that the border of our country shouldn't be enforced". Utterly ridiculous. I'm going to give the show one more shot because I truly enjoy it, but you're going to lose a lot of fans, and reading the other reviews, you know I'm not the only one that feels this way.

How can this be so bad?

I love Nathan Fillion as much as the next person and he's good in this. But the show so far, the writing, the acting, the drama, everything. It feels like a show from the 2000s. It's all so silly and dumb. Was this maybe made 20 years ago and survived in a Time Capsule? 🙈😂😂

I'M SHOCKED!

The new captain is an incompetent white guy. Who could've seen that coming?

Hollywood. Nathan Fillion is a loveable rogue, but he can't carry wildly inaccurate scripts. Get it together. I'd hate to see this thing die before it gets going.

Here we go...

Another show that feels it only represent Christians as total psychopaths. It gets old. The stooge of a character they get to play the new captain is so far over the top as an incompetent white guy it completely detracts from the show. Is it so hard to write in a character that's competent, but demonstrates a different style of leadership? I really like this show about 80% of the time, but this episode is certainly a sign of things to come and probably the end for many viewers who appreciate an honest storyline.
