Starz has served up our first real look at two new key Outlander season seven cast members. The minute-and-a-half video introduces Outlander fans to Joey Phillips as Dr. Denzell Hunter and Izzy Meikle-Small as Rachel Hunter.
Phillips and Meikle-Small play siblings who have a very close, loving relationship. Phillips describes Denzell as a surgeon with a real desire to join the Continental Army because “he believes that liberty is a gift from God.” Rachel’s conflicted about Denzell’s decision but accompanies him anyway because she doesn’t really have anywhere else to go.
In the video, Izzy Meikle-Small confirms their season seven costumes will be very modest because they’re Quakers.
Season seven’s newcomers also include Charles Vandervaart as William Ransom, the secret son of Jamie Fraser. And Starz offers this description of Vandervaart’s character:
“Raised by his stepfather, Lord John Grey (David Berry), William, the ninth Earl of Ellesmere,...

We love this duo like a love song, baby. Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez just proved they are friendship goals from the red carpet to the For You page. On June 23, Selena shared a makeup tutorial using some of her Rare Beauty products—and Taylor's song "The Man" as the TikTok video's background music. But the homage to being besties did not stop there: After seeing the video, Taylor showed Selena some love in the comment section. "It's giving CEO it's giving gorgeousness it's giving friends forever," the "Blank Space" singer wrote, to which Selena sweetly replied, "For Life." Taylor and Selena's long-standing friendship has...

He's been in the sales business for 10 years with little to show for it: at his wife's work, they use Teddy as a verb, which means to screw something up. During a Friday performance on his “From Scratch” tour, comedian John Mulaney surprised his audience — and drew criticism from some fans — when Dave Chappelle appeared as the opener and told what were described as “transphobic jokes.”
Chappelle’s opening set occurred during a show at Ohio State University’s Value City Arena in Columbus, Ohio. Although there is no footage from the event, as attendees were required to lock their phones up beforehand, several audience members took to social media afterwards to criticize the show. According to attendees, Chappelle appeared as a surprise opener, and told jokes targeting the transgender community. Mulaney reportedly came onstage and hugged Chappelle at the conclusion of the opening set. Some fans in the crowd expressed their disappointment after the show on Twitter:

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Season 6, Episode 7 of Outlander, “Sticks and Stones.”] Outlander is no stranger to unusual plotlines and Season 6 is no exception as the penultimate episode, “Sticks and Stones,” revealed Lizzie (Caitlin O’Ryan) was in a three-way relationship with the Beardsley twins, Josiah and Kezzie (both played by Paul Gorman). While a storyline like this set in the present might not seem so jarring, it’s a little shocking to find such a plot set in the 18th century and between one woman and twin brothers, no less. The only reason the revelation came to light is Lizzie told Ian (John Bell) that she’s pregnant and unsure which twin is the father. “It is a wild storyline,” O’Ryan admits, “but that’s what made me want to take the job was because there’s more to Lizzie than meets the eye and she does something that no one expects. And the thought of ...

After the diabolical diatribe Malva inflicted on the faithful of Frasers Ridge, is it any surprise that all eyes are on Claire in the wake of the girl's murder?
Outlander Season 6 Episode 7 is the thing of nightmares, and Claire was having plenty of them.
Ironically, "Sticks and Stones" also contained one of the most comical stories that's ever been featured on Outlander, so it was never in danger of being too much to bear.
It's too bad the levity couldn't save Claire whatever comes next. She's not that lucky.
Things have been boiling over for Claire for a while now. She's got so many demons in her closet, and she can't shut the door on them.
Nothing sets her off more than threats to her family, and the faux secret that Malva divulged couldn't have come at a worse time for Claire.

Things aren't getting much better in "Sticks and Stones," the latest "Outlander" episode where Claire has trouble dealing with the horrific events that happened just outside her door at the end season 6's previous episode.
Things are bad, but things aren't completely horrible this episode, at least. There's a love triangle of sorts that gets some screen time, and Roger appears to have found his calling. For Claire, however, things are really bad. And it looks like things are going to get worse before they (hopefully) get better.

The fallout from Dave Chappelle’s harsh words about trans and LGBTQ+ communities in his Netflix special The Closer crested Wednesday with a walkout and rally that saw more than 100 protesters and allies attend, and present their “list of asks” to the company in the wake of the controversy.
B. Pagels-Minor, the Netflix employee fired last week from the streamer for allegedly leaking financial information to the media about Chappelle’s comedy special, was among those participating at the company’s Vine Street offices near its Sunset Boulevard headquarters.

Netflix spent $24.1 million on the special, which was not previously publicly known before the October 13 Bloomberg article, and was not meant to be disclosed.

At the Emmys, Best Pre-recorded Variety Special is turning into a race between three very different programs: the TV version of the stage hit “Hamilton,” a comedy special from Emmy favorite Dave Chappelle and an innovative show by Bo Burnham.
“Hamilton” was hailed by both audiences and critics when Disney+ streamed it during the tumultuous worldwide lockdown last year. It scores 97% at Rotten Tomatoes based on nearly 200 reviews, and boasts an impressive 8.4/10 rating on IMDb. After being recognized by the Golden Globes, Screen Actors’ Guild and Critics’ Choice Association. Lin-Manuel Miranda’s musical reaped a resounding 10 Emmy bids including a record-breaking seven acting nominations.
Three years ago, another stage to TV transfer, “Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert” won a program award at the Emmys. However, that victory came in the “Live” category with the “Pre-recorded” prize going to Chappelle’s stand-up special “Equanimity.” Chappelle repeated in that race in 2020 for “Sticks and Stones.

Johnny Paycheck would have turned 83 this past Monday. In 1977, he scored three consecutive Top 10 country songs, including his biggest hit, the No. 1 “Take This Job and Shove It.” But while Paycheck, who died at age 64 in 2003, is synonymous with the song about sticking it to — and flipping off — The Man, it was actually written by David Allan Coe. Coe cut his version for his 1978 Family Album and performed it frequently in his shows, including on the latter-day concert document Biketoberfest ’01: Live From the Iron Horse Saloon.

The new Danish psychological drama flick, which follows on the heels of Skovbjerg's Sticks and Stones, will star Angela Bundalovic and Jonas Holst Schmidt. Martin Skovbjerg's sophomore feature, Copenhagen Does Not Exist, has entered production. Skovbjerg made his debut with Sticks and Stones, which premiered at the London Film Festival in 2018, and he also gained popularity in Denmark thanks to his two youth-orientated series Anton90 and Fastland. His new endeavour is based on Terje Holtet's novel Sander and was penned by Eskil Vogt. Copenhagen Does Not Exist follows a young couple, Ida and Sander, played by Angela Bundalovic and Jonas Holst Schmidt. The story begins when Ida disappears suddenly, and Sander agrees to be interrogated by her father and brother in an abandoned flat in Copenhagen. It turns out that Ida had left her family to live a secluded life with Sander in total isolation from society – in...

Netflix has removed “Chappelle’s Show” off its streaming platform at the request of series creator and star Dave Chappelle, who is speaking out against series owner ViacomCBS for licensing the Comedy Central hit without paying him. Dave Chappelle won the Emmy Award this year for Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded) thanks to his 2019 Netflix comedy special “Sticks and Stones,” which happened to earn the popular comedian some of his worst critical reviews to date. “Sticks and Stones” carries a 32 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and was widely criticized by television critics because of Chappelle’s transphobic humor and jokes made about the #MeToo movement, including Chappelle’s declaration that he does not believe the men who accused Michael Jackson of sexual assault. The comedian won the Emmy despite poor critical reviews, and he used his acceptance speech to shut down his critics.
“Boy, this comes as a complete surprise,” Chappelle said in a pre-recorded speech. “I mean, I read all the reviews and they said so many terrible things. They were embarrassed for me; I had lost my way, it wasn’t even worth watching — I hope all you critics learn from this.

Over the past few months, The Weeknd — a.k.a. Abel Tesfaye — has found multiple ways to expand his persona. He’s dropped his smash “After Hours” album, which brought forth a new vulnerability in its lyrics, and made a cameo appearance (as himself) in Adam Sandler’s film “Uncut Gems.” But at the other end of the spectrum, he made comic turns on both “Saturday Night Live,” and in a guest spot on TBS’ long-running animated series “American Dad,” which saw him not only writing a song and voicing his character (a literally virginal version of himself) but also helping to write the episode, which was called, naturally, “A Starboy Is Born.”

Dave Chappelle came out of isolation to bring a new stand-up comedy special into the world. Haven’t we heard this one before? The circumstances for Chappelle’s latest return, 87 days since his last performance, were a bit different. The new special, titled 8:46, was tapped on June 6 in front of a socially-distanced audience in his hometown of Yellow Springs, Ohio. Netflix released it for free on their comedy YouTube channel.
The title is a reference to the length of time that Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin pressed his knee into the neck of George Floyd, killing him. Floyd’s death sparked ongoing national protests and calls for police reform. Chappelle at one point also claims that he was born at 8:46 a.m. per his birth certificate. A somber Chappelle used his 27 minutes on stage to address police brutality, and grapple with his emotions on the deaths of George Floyd and Kobe Bryant.

This week on DC’s Stargirl, just as Henry King Sr. aka Brainwave was sidelined by a zap from the cosmic staff, another Isa baddie made his presence known (and how!). To the public he is Jordan Mahkent, head of the folksy American Dream project. But among his Injustice Society brethren, he is known as Icicle — as in the one who years ago killed Starman, and who this week iced councilman William Zarick aka The Wizard after subjecting his son to a fatal accident.

No men were harmed in the making of Taylor Swift's music video. On Friday, the singer gave Swifties another behind-the-scenes look at her "The Man" music video with a hilarious video starring her dad Scott Swift. In it, Taylor broke down the scene where her father makes a cameo as the tennis umpire—and it didn't look like it was a fun day on set for Papa Swift, who had tennis balls thrown at him by the Cats star. "So, we have a very special performance in this video that is my dad playing the umpire of the tennis match where I have a royal meltdown because the umpire calls my shot, 'Out," Taylor said in the video. "And basically, I started pelting my dad with tennis balls, which I...

Taylor Swift has already shared her process for becoming “The Man” for her latest music video (in short: five hours of makeup and lots of eyebrow prosthetics), but on Tuesday the pop star released a new clip showing how her directorial debut came together.

Taylor Swift’s gender-bending transformation in her self-directed “The Man” music video is still mind-boggling a week out from its release. Over the course of five hours each day on set, makeup artist Bill Corso and his team turned Swift into her finance bro alter-ego, but up until now, we’ve only seen photographs of the process.
On Friday, we finally got a behind-the-scenes video from the shoot, and it’s equal parts adorable and disturbing. I couldn’t keep a stupid grin off my face as I watched Swift...

Taylor Swift fooled nearly everyone in her latest music video (and directorial debut), “The Man,” in which she dressed up as her own male alter ego “Tyler Swift” to demonstrate toxic masculinity in the workplace.
It was quite an impressive drag persona, so much so that it was hard to tell at times whether it really was Swift under all that facial hair.
Since “The Man” video came out, Swift herself, as well as the video’s makeup artist, Bill Corso, have shed some light on how the hell this transformation happened.

Turns out, if Taylor Swift were a man, she'd sound a lot like Dwayne Johnson. On Thursday, the 30-year-old singer unveiled the powerful music video for "The Man," and it includes a subtle cameo from The Rock himself. While the video includes tons of Easter eggs, including references to the double standards women face and Swift's ongoing battle to own her own music, the ending includes the best one of all.
Turns out, "the man" in the music video is actually Taylor Swift in disguise (voiced by none other than Dwayne Johnson). In the final scene, director Taylor Swift comes face to face with her male counterpart. As Johnson's voice asks how the previous take was, Swift flips the script by telling him (aka herself) to be "sexier" and "more likable."
Following the video's release, Swift personally thanked Johnson for lending his voice and being such a big Swiftie over the years.

Taylor Swift plays a yacht-owning, model-dating, man-spreading corporate scumbag in the music video for her song “The Man” that dropped Thursday morning, and her transformation into a man is so seamless that at first, you might not recognize it’s her.
In the dramatic video, Swift walks around in full prosthetic makeup looking like a rich and powerful businessman with a fancy job and a private yacht who is generally rude to people and still somehow gets everything he wants.
We watch this version of Swift get applauded for traipsing through the office and fist-bumping people; man-spread on the subway while blowing smoke in some poor woman’s face; pee on the wall of the subway station; describe the shape of a woman’s body using wild hand-gestures; take his daughter to the park one time and get called the World’s Greatest Dad, and so on.

The song, which is Swift's latest single off of her hit Lover album, addresses the double standards between men and women. In this new video, Swift dresses up as "The Man," showing her getting praise at work, on a yacht, and being welcomed in any setting. Early on in the video, the character stops to go the bathroom on a wall at "13th Street Station," a nod to Swift's favorite number. Around the station sign we see the names of Swift's...
