One Michael Jackson song seems to be about a regular friendship. It’s actually about a friendship with a killer rat. Jackson revealed how this tune came together so fast, even though he struggled with a lot of self-doubt.
1 Michael Jackson song was the theme for a horror film
Listen to any of Jackson’s songs, and it’s clear he put lots of effort into his music. Even when he didn’t write or produce his music, his voice was impeccable. All these years later, he rhymes one of pop music’s best singers.
During a 1980 interview posted to Blank on Blank, Jackson said he was a perfectionist, but that didn’t mean he always worked slowly. “I do vocals pretty quick,” he explained. “But for instance ‘Ben,’ I did in one take. I went right in and cut it.” For context, “Ben” is a ballad about a killer...

Michael Jackson said disco was better than rock music in some regards. That was a very provocative statement at the time! The King of Pop went on to explain why he didn’t care much for diving up genres, likening music to bird calls.
Michael Jackson defended disco during a racist backlash to it
Today, disco music is about as controversial as apple pie. However, in the late 1970s, the genre was polarizing. Some critics and fans hated it because they felt it did not live up to the quality of the rock ‘n’ roll music of the previous decade. Others felt disco was taking up too much of the music market. Most disconcertingly, some audiences attacked disco because of its association with Black and LGBTQ communities.
Jackson wasn’t primarily a disco singer. However, he released disco/disco-inspired tunes such as “Thriller,” “Billie Jean,” and “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough.

While John Lennon was still in The Beatles, he put out an album with a cover that shocked people around the world. His bandmates even had to field calls from reporters about it. On the cover of Two Virgins, one of three experimental albums Lennon released with Yoko Ono, the couple posed naked. When his aunt saw the image, she complained that Lennon looked ugly. This, he said, was his intention.
John Lennon surprised people with one album cover
In 1968, Lennon and Ono released Two Virgins. The cover featured full frontal nudity, prompting many record stores to put the album in a paper bag in order to sell it. Lennon shared the intention behind the photograph.
“We were both a bit embarrassed when we peeled off for the picture, so I took it myself with a delayed-action shutter,” he said in The Beatles Anthology. “The picture was to prove that...

Combining two popular themes, an author struggling with writer’s block and AI run amuck, Blank is the story of Claire Rivers who can’t seem to put words on paper even as the bills pile up and the calls from her agent become more frantic. Finally, facing a one month deadline to either produce a book or lose her publishing deal she decides to spend that time at The Retreat, a high tech facility for the creatively blocked.
Her room comes complete with a holographic concierge named Henry and Rita an android assistant. There’s also a weird little device for Claire to attach to her head in order to stimulate her creativity. It doesn’t seem to help though as we mostly see her drinking wine and falling asleep in front of the TV.

I was always under the impression that Blumhouse’s Prime Video cannibal series The Horror of Dolores Roach (read our review Here) was going to be an eight episode limited series, but apparently there was hope for a second season, because The Hollywood Reporter has announced that Prime Video has decided to cancel the show. So the eight episode first season is all we’re getting after all.
The news of the cancellation comes four months after all eight episodes of The Horror of Dolores Roach were released on the same day back in July.
Based on the Gimlet podcast of the same name, The Horror of Dolores Roach came from Blumhouse Television, Gimlet, and GloNation Studios. The show tells the following story: After serving a 16-year prison sentence, the title character (Machado) returns to a gentrified Washington Heights with $200 and the clothes on her back. A new British sci-fi thriller is coming to screens in January – and we’ve got the trailer for Blank right here.
It’s tough being an independent in the current marketplace, especially so if you’re trying to cut through with a science fiction project. We’ve seen Gareth Edwards’ The Creator – off the back of strong reviews – fall short of Disney’s box office hopes, and thus put science fiction back under the microscope.
Lots of bonus points therefore to director Natalie Kennedy, who has put the finishing touches to her science fiction thriller, Blank. This is a British production, starring Rachel Shelley, Heida Reed and Wayne Brady.
The script has come from Stephen Herman, whilst Rebecca Clare-Evans has produced. And now we hear that the film will arrive on January 8th 2024. It’s going to digital download services, and we’ve got a trailer and a synopsis.

"Something is going on out there, and it's affecting us in here!" UK's Sparky Pictures, in association with Templeheart Films and Kenmore Films, are delighted to reveal an official UK trailer for a British indie sci-fi film called Blank, marking the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Natalie Kennedy. It already opened in the US in 2022 after premiering at the Manchester Film Festival (view last year's trailer) so here's another reminder it exists. A desperate writer signs up for a fully A.I. operated retreat to cure her writer's block, but when an unforeseen software glitch occurs, she gets trapped inside her unit with an unstable android and no communication with the outside world. Another fascinating Artificial Intelligence thriller about these times we're in. Starring Rachel Shelley, Heida Reed, and Wayne Brady. This seems pretty obvious, with the android understanding what needs to be done to help her, perhaps with some ulterior motives.

Former Trump aide Cassidy Hutchinson stopped by “The View” on Tuesday, and host Whoopi Goldberg had a serious question for her: “Did you not realize you were in a cult?”
The ask came as host Sunny Hostin homed in on one particular piece of Hutchinson’s new book, “Enough,” in which she recounted how she explained to her mother why she was still moving to Mar-a-Lago with Trump, even after the events of January 6. But for Hostin, the explanation in the book was unclear, so she pushed further.
“Are we talking opportunity? Or are we talking guilt?” Hostin asked. “What would make you still go to Mar-a-Lago?”
Hutchinson conceded that it is a bit “confusing,” and clarified that “I did genuinely put a lot of the blame on myself, on the people that had surrounded the president, because I felt that it was our job to advise him, it was...

The Kills — the indie rock duo featuring singer Alison Mosshart and guitarist Jamie Hince — have announced the impending arrival of their first new album in seven years, God Games.
Ahead of the LP’s October 27 release, the band has shared the latest single, “103,” a love song set amid the ever-increasing, life-threatening heat waves plaguing the planet.
The visual for “103” was directed by Steven Sebring and makes use of a custom-built 3D film studio as the camera revolves around Mosshart and Hince, who — keeping with the song’s theme — don tanning goggles and solar eclipse glasses.

The Kills have readied God Games, their first album in seven years. The project is out in full on October 27th via Domino, while the new single “103” is available to stream now.
For God Games, The Kills tried a mix of strategies old and new. Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince composed its 12 tracks primarily on piano, a first for the duo, but recorded the LP with producer Paul Epworth, who the band have known for 20 years. They recorded the album in an old church, which presumably added to their signature sultry, blues-inspired sound.
New track “103” begins with crackling electronic percussion and guitar that rolls in waves as Mosshart sings about the end of the world. The deceptively calming song comes with a 360-degree music video directed by Steven Sebring that follows The Kills as they try not to melt under the sun’s rays. Check it out below.
Pre-orders for God Games are ongoing.

Osees have announced their latest albbum, a synth-pop-inspired project entitled Intercepted Message, out August 18th via In the Red. They have also shared the album’s title track as a lead single. Listen to it below.
In a “bio” for the new album, Osees frontman John Dwyer explained that it’s a “pop record for tired times.” The single — along with its news-inspired music video — supports this theme, drawing on the fatigued energy of politics and society, and channeling it into a blistering blend of punk and electro beeping and booping. In the video, Dwyer serves as the anchor for a dystopian broadcast, and as the world burns down behind his talking head, the weight of the message sinks in. Watch the video below.
From Dwyer’s perspective, Osees’ new music is intended to create a commonplace of sorts. “Social media toilet scrapers unite!” he wrote for the poetic bio.

Like all fun, dumb, egregiously unverified celebrity rumors these days, it came from Deux Moi: Taylor Swift, fresh off her breakup with Joe Alwyn, was allegedly racing back to the dating world with… Formula 1 driver and two-time world champion Fernando Alonso.

For a writer, there are few things more intimidating than the blank page. Creativity at its best comes organically, but books and articles live on deadlines, with a specified amount of copy required by a certain date. It’s this anxiety that’s at the heart of Natalie Kennedy’s film Blank, but it’s far from the only one.

"I cannot open the door until your work is completed." Brainstorm Media has debuted an official trailer for an indie sci-fi thriller titled Blank, yet another Artificial Intelligence goes rogue and turns violent horror film. There's so many of these A.I. horror films these days I don't know why they keep making them when it's pretty much always the same story. The big difference with this one is that it also involves an android woman. After checking in for an A.I. operated writer's retreat, Claire finds herself trapped in her unit with a malfunctioning android. As her captor becomes increasingly unstable she has to outsmart the technology in order to make it out alive. Rachel Shelley stars as Claire, with Heida Reed, Wayne Brady, Rebecca-Clare Evans, and Annie Cusselle. This doesn't look as bad as so many other A.I. films, but it doesn't look that good either.
