Poet Sascha is on a journey to self-reflection and trying to express his troubled soul - which doesn't seem to be quite troubled enough for him. He is tortured by the indecision of which path to choose: following his idol Arthur Rimbaud or opening up his mind through alcohol and drug binges. He strongly identifies with the poet-rebel Rimbaud (born 1854) - not only because of a shared hatred towards their mother. The film is a dramatic comedy, showing both the serious and ridiculous side of a young man's journey of trying to be an artist.
