Prepare to be transported to a world of wonder and adventure.

What a lovely conclusion.

Series 3 had seemed to be one too far until this episode which beautifully brings everything together.

One scene is reminiscent of something from Only Fools And Horses.

With such creative writing, you know the ending for the characters you love so much will be as safe as houses.

Credible oddballs you can care about and leaves you with a smile on your face and warmth in your heart and the great thing is Mackenzie went and achieved the same thing with the adaptation of Worzel Gummidge.

Wish there was more

As poignant as this conclusion was, so sad there's apparently no more coming. Tv this quality is rare.

Absolutely fantastic conclusion, so wish there was more seasons. Love this series but this episode is a stand out high. The writing and rounding up of storylines feels near perfect.

Warning: Spoilers
All change for Lance and his extended family, rather like musical chairs as each of them move around in their cycle of life.

At the Danebury Metal Detectors Club Tel is in fine fettle, with the news of his new magnum opus that is hot of the press.

Lance and Andy want all the Club to be at their permission for the last day there.

There is a slight hiccup over the tree central to the location, the Solar Company want to remove it. While Lance and Andy want to preserve it.

The answer is there facing them but it involves attempting a rapprochement, with the DMDC arch rivals if not exactly Nemesis.

Big last day and Toni arrives to find out what she's let herself in for in bothering with Lance.

Andy has to split himself between the Site and the Dream House, where he and Becky have to compete at their very first auction.

I want more! Please don't let the 2022 Christmas special be the last. In these dark times we all need more Lance, Andy and the members of the DMDC in our lives. Please Mr Crook, write more. There are only a few programmes that I can rewatch this many, many times and this is number one on that list. The balance of cast, story and even location makes this show one of my absolute favourites. Shows that can produce this many laughs without overly relying on gimmicks is a true gem and must be encouraged at all costs. Please don't make me beg, but if it'll help I will. Please, please, please, please!

We are sorely in need of intelligent, gentle humor which Detectorists offered us. How many shows in your experience leaves such an ear to ear smile on your face? Kudos BBC4, Kudos to the whole team that make this treasure!

A very poignant and well-earned conclusion to the series. I actually cried.

I live outside of the UK and have only just caught up with the series on Netflix.

Such sweet and real characters, who, in their gentle way are actually quite progressive. Andy, for example, doesn't have to be an ambitious go-getter. He can be a full-time hobbyist and still provide a fulfilling life for his family. It really makes you think about what quantifies a person's true worth.

I loved how everyone came together "to save a tree" and the "karma" that Lance's daughter referred to came full circle. It was so satisfying.

When so many series are based in the city, "The Detectorists" is a true gem.

Last year, I spent a summer holiday in Suffolk - which I think is where a lot of the series was shot. The sheer sweetness of the English countryside... it makes me long for home.

I may have to watch this series again.
