Although I really enjoyed the last episode regarding multiple universes/dimensions, showing different possible versions of David (I hope that becomes relevant at some point, but I wouldn't care either way) I'm glad this episode explains (kinda) a few more things.
Lenny is shown to remember her transformation from Amy to herself. Syd thinks she is simply a distraction for David.
David tries to imtimate the Shadow King after learning about his sisters fate, and summons him. However it seems David hasn't reached the focus to be any real threat to the Shadow King, yet. He toys with David in their incounter which I found kinda amusing.
Well, the Shadow King builds himself some sort of machine (what we see at the start) to comunicate with the future Syd, fortunately it seems like he can't harm her, or he won't since they seem to have the same aim. To find his body. He asks her why she is trying to help him.
Shadow King manages to penetrate her mind, and we see a silhouette of David, meaning he is a bigger threat to everyone than the Shadow King himself. Which he of couse finds amusing, since he's been the "villain" all this time.
We finally find out what the black tiny slimy monsters are about, they are the seeds of insanity, where it came from, well, it seems it stumbled upon our weiry friends upon chance, or maybe sent by the shadow king, this remains unclear.
It has been slowly infecting everyone, starting Ptonomy Wallace, who seems to have been infected with the "queen" of insanity. It makes them see things, instead of reality, making them go after "basket head" (sorry forgot his name) thinking he's a monster. All of them except David are affected.
He turns out to be a normal ish Asian guy, who doesn't speak, or is unable to, before he gets shot in the face by an infected Clark, David realizes what's happening and manages to appear and stop him, Syd and Ptonomy.
This episode also emphasizes how powerful David is. He manages to extract the seeds of insanity from Clark and Syd with relative ease, and the queen emerges from Ptonomy, leaving him badly injured in an "Aliens" like appearance out of his body, and out of his spine.
David chases the queen of insanity, meanwhile the freaky robot things mention Ptonomy is dying (no crap), but his mind can be saved.
David catches up with Insanity, and connects with it's mind. Insanity seems to be comically massive in size, and there's little David, giving it one chance to simply leave him and his friends alone. But it doesn't seem to understand, and tries to attack David, David simply makes it tiny, and it runs into his boots, with no effect.
David simply locks it up in a jar, and kills it with his mind, thus ending Insanity, or so we hope.
We see Ptonomy connected to the "mainframe" when he's inside, all he sees is binary code (10111011011) and so forth. But there is also someone there, and old woman, on a rocking chair, knitting away.
She acknowledges him, by simply shushing him (but he didn't say anything). Hopefully this old woman has some answers for the next episode, rather than shushing every time.
In summary, It seems for now the future Syd is under the impression that David is the one who ends the world, not the Shadow King, meaning David may get even more powerful, as if he isn't powerful enough already, and the Shadow King is humanity's only hope. Whether this is true or not, I guess we shall find out.
