Retribution is one of those low budget bottle movies. It is almost entirely set in a car. The film is a remake of a Spanish movie El Desconocido, which itself was seemingly inspired by Speed.
Liam Neeson stars as Matt Turner. A hedge fund manager in Germany which is in serious trouble.
While taking his annoying kids to school, Turner gets a phone call from an unknown caller telling him there's a bomb in his car. He needs to keep driving and follow a set of instructions or else his car will be blown up.
Turner acquiesces but his annoying kids are slow on the uptake. Turner knows that he is being set up and the unknown person is after the millions he has stashed in a secret bank account in Dubai.
Retribution is an absurd movie. The cops think Turner is the villain behind it all. There is no shock in the reveal. It is dumb and Neeson makes it better than it should be.
