Millie Bobby Brown’s television “Papa” will play a special role at her wedding. Matthew Modine, who plays Dr. Martin Brenner on Stranger Things, will officiate as Brown, who plays Eleven on the Netflix hit, ties the knot with Jake Bongiovi. “I have one of those licenses to get people married, and Millie thought it’d be great, and then Jake said it would be a great idea,” Modine explained on Access Daily on Thursday. “So I wrote the wedding vows, and they loved what I wrote for them to join hands and become husband and wife.” Modine says he has officiated a wedding once before. “It’s such a beautiful thing to be able to join two people in holy matrimony,” he said. “I’ve been married 44 years. It’s amazing when it works.” Brown announced her engagement to Bongiovi, son of Jon Bon Jovi, in April 2023. As she...

Exclusive: At the 2021 Edinburgh TV Festival, the BBC and Netflix unveiled what the pair described as a landmark five-year disability partnership that would unearth a new generation of shows helmed by disabled talent.
But more than half of the partnership’s five-year time period has now elapsed and not one show has been revealed.
In recent months, sources from the UK drama and disabled TV communities have begun questioning the partnership, getting in touch with Deadline unprompted to query why a tie-up that was unveiled with such fanfare has so far failed to bear fruit.
“It’s slightly bizarre,” said one professional connected with disability programs. “I’ve heard nothing from anyone to be honest. No one can get a definitive answer.”
The partnership came in the wake of a blistering Edinburgh TV Festival MacTaggart broadside from Help writer Jack Thorne, who slammed the UK TV industry for “totally and utterly” failing disabled people.

The fifth and final season of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things was just about to start filming when the writers strike hit back in May. But now that the writers strike – and the actors strike that followed it – has come to an end, series creators The Duffer Brothers are preparing to head into production on Stranger Things season 5 at the start of January. But as they get ready to start filming, they took a moment to talk to The Guardian… and while the conversation was primarily about the stage play Stranger Things: The First Shadow, they also mentioned that the new season of the show will be like “season 1 on steroids” and the biggest the show has ever been.
Matt Duffer told The Guardian, “This season – it’s like season one on steroids. It’s the biggest it’s ever been in terms of scale, but it has been really fun,...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the third Doctor Who 60th anniversary special, “The Giggle.”] “I don’t want to go,” David Tennant’s (Tenth) Doctor said when he regenerated into Matt Smith’s (Eleventh) on Doctor Who in 2010, and now, once again, we don’t want to say goodbye to him (especially after only three specials). But hey, we do get Ncuti Gatwa as the Fifteenth Doctor — and in quite the twist! But first, before we get to Tennant’s latest regeneration scene — following Nine to Ten, the “Journey’s End” fake-out thanks to the hand he channeled the excess energy into, Ten to Eleven, and Thirteen to Fourteen — The Doctor has one last game to play, against the Toymaker (Neil Patrick Harris). It all begins in Soho in 1925, with the puppet Stooky Bill John Logie Baird’s employee buys from the Toymaker’s shop for the inventor to use in his attempt to prove the television works.

Blink49 Studios Attaches Kristina Lauren Anderson, Remy Solomon & Natalie Krinsky To Upcoming Dramas
Exclusive: Kristina Lauren Anderson, Remy Solomon and producer Natalie Krinsky are getting in business with Canada’s Blink49 Studios.
Anderson has been attached to write If We Were Villains, the drama series John Morayniss’ Blink49 is co-producing with Sex Education maker Eleven, while Solomon will adapt Marissa Stapley’s novel Things To Do When It’s Raining. Natalie Krinsky has signed a non-writing executive producer deal for the latter.
Anderson will be adapting M.L. Rio’s book, which is billed as a “hauntingly suspenseful novel that follows seven young Shakespearean actors at an elite college where competition is fierce, rivalry is dangerous, and the line between life and art is dangerously thin.” When tragedy strikes in their final year and one dies, the others are forced to prove to the police — and themselves — that they are blameless. Well, it was supposed to have been a surprise. Fifteenth Doctor Ncuti Gatwa let the cat somewhat out of the bag at the GQ Men of the Year awards on November 16, when he announced to The Mirror “I shouldn’t say this but I shot a scene, somehow, with the first ever Doctor, William Hartnell.”
Doctor Who fans put two and two together, correctly guessing that Gatwa didn’t mean the actual William Hartnell, who passed away in 1975, but the version of him played by actor David Bradley – first in 2013 docudrama An Adventure in Space and Time about the creation of Doctor Who, and subsequently in “The Doctor Falls”, “Twice Upon a Time” and “The Power of the Doctor”.
Knowing that An Adventure in Space and Time had yet to appear as part of BBC iPlayer’s extensive Whoniverse, and was scheduled for a BBC Four repeat on the night of the 60th anniversary,...

The end of “Stranger Things” is on the horizon, but Millie Bobby Brown is positioned to be a regular presence on Netflix screens long after she wraps her run as Eleven.
2024 will see the actress star in “Damsel,” an upcoming fantasy adventure from “28 Weeks Later” director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo that sees her playing a princess who is forced to take on a dragon once she realizes that her royal wedding was a ruse to offer her up as a ritualistic sacrifice. With the film set to debut on Netflix next year, the streaming giant unveiled the first trailer on Saturday as part of its Geeked Week celebration.
The trailer introduces Brown as Princess Elodie, a young monarch who learns that she must give her life to a dragon in order to ensure her kingdom’s long term safety.
“For generations, it has been our task to protect our people.

This post contains spoilers for "Stranger Things" season 4.
Season 4 of "Stranger Things" went to some wild places, especially with a new, tentacled threat looming over an already-doomed Hawkins. This particular season heightened the stakes like never before. This was the first time we saw the kids scattered across states, while adults like Jim Hopper (David Harbour) found themselves trapped in a Russian prison with no hope of escape in sight. With frequent deaths peppered across the course of nine episodes, there was a need to often change locales, which were mostly new and strange to suit the tone of the season -- such as the ominous Creel house and the abandoned shack Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn) hid in after being suspected of murder.
While these interior sequences were comparatively easier to film, every scene involving water proved to be a menace for the camera and cinematography department. As the position...

Since she became a household name for her role as Eleven on Netflix's "Stranger Things," fans have been curious about Millie Bobby Brown's personal life, especially now that she's engaged. While the actor may have garnered more buzz in light of "Stranger Things"'s season four release, she's also generated attention for her sweet relationship with Jake Bongiovi.
In an Oct. 16 interview with Glamour, Brown opened up about what made her realize Bongiovi was the one. She entered the relationship shortly after getting out of what she described as an "unhealthy situation" with TikToker Hunter Ecimovic, who later claimed he had groomed Brown and made other disparaging comments before eventually apologizing. The ordeal made Brown feel "publicly humiliated," she told the outlet.

Sorry, Stranger Things fans, but Millie Bobby Brown is more than ready to leave Hawkins, Ind. behind.
In a newly published interview with Glamour Magazine (that was conducted before the SAG-AFTRA strike began), Brown said that she was prepared to bid her character Eleven farewell. “When you’re ready, you’re like, ‘All right, let’s do this. The final season of “Stranger Things” will start production once the actors’ strike comes to an end. But for star Millie Bobby Brown, that resolution likely can’t come soon enough.
Speaking to Glamour in an interview published Monday, Brown compared finishing the Netflix blockbuster to graduation.

Sunday brought a close to the 10th Life Is Beautiful music festival in Las Vegas, and with it the end of the summer festival season. Life Is Beautiful, which has taken place in the city every year for the past decade (save for a pandemic-related 2020 cancellation), brought tens of thousands of concertgoers downtown, many in the psychedelic and post-Y2K fashion that’s been so common at festivals for the past several years, though this time with a fair amount of Barbie influence, too.

Stranger Things is in the midst of yet another multiple-year hiatus, and with the Writers Guild of America strike still going strong, it looks like we won’t be seeing the conclusion to the Hawkins saga for quite some time. We’ll take any crumbs we can that fall from the Upside Down, and Netflix was kind enough to provide those to fans at their Tudum 2023 event this past weekend. With Arnold Schwarzenegger at the microphone and fans on the edge of their seats for any information on the fifth season, The Terminator actor bellowed to the audience that his former co-star in the famous James Cameron science fiction franchise, Linda Hamilton, would be appearing next season in the Duffer Brothers’ series climactic set of episodes.
There was no further information given about the Sarah Connor actress’ role in the season, but we can assume that it will be more than a small cameo.

Netflix’s Stranger Things is a phenomenon like no other in TV history. Since its premiere in 2016, this science fiction spectacle has garnered millions of fans and plenty of critical adulation due to its daring confidence to try new things that other shows have been too scared to do in the past. Employing child actors in the main roles and relying on niche genre tropes like 1980s horror homages are just some of the ways creators Matt and Ross Duffer have pushed the envelope through the years. With only one season left to complete their masterpiece, the brothers have an opportunity to shatter one final barrier that could positively change representation on television forever.

Did Millie Bobby Brown turn down a multi-million dollar deal to reprise Eleven in a “Stranger Things” spinoff series? The Sun and The Daily Mail reported as much this week, with sources claiming that Brown was offered $12 million (£10 million) for a potential Eleven spinoff but rejected it because she wants to “branch out” into other roles. The official “Stranger Things” writers room took to Twitter to reject the report.
“Yeah, there’s nothing in this article that is true,” the “Stranger Things” writers said while sharing The Daily Mail article. “Don’t know why we have to keep debunking this rumor but get those clicks you guys!!”
Variety has reached out to Brown’s representatives for further comment.

Ayo Edebiri took home the prize for best supporting performance in a new scripted series at the Independent Spirit Awards for her role in The Bear.
“I didn’t really prepare any remarks and my manager gave me a piece of paper,” Edebiri began her acceptance speech. “I just want to say, I’m really grateful. Yeah, this is really nice and very cool.”
She went on to say it was important for her to see a room — er, tent — full of people who look like and feel like her.
“I grew up, and there weren’t people who looked like me or felt like me,” Edebiri continued. “This is really nice because I’m in a room full of a lot of people, who I really admire and looked up to, but there’s also a lot of people who look like me and feel like me, and that’s really nice.

It’s a new part of the life cycle of any major screen phenomenon – sooner or later, you head to the stage. There is, of course, Harry Potter And The Cursed Child, a ballet for Peaky Blinders, a Game Of Thrones production (likely a few years off yet), then you’re in luck – a prequel play to the Duffer Brothers’ sci-fi-horror saga is coming to the London stage later this year.
The show is titled Stranger Things: The First Shadow, and it’s due to arrive at the Phoenix Theatre in the West End in late 2023 – penned by Kate Trefry (from a story she penned with the Duffer directing.
Set in Hawkins, Indiana in 1959, the play will feature younger versions of some fan-favourite characters from the show. Here’s the official synopsis: “Hawkins, 1959: a regular town with regular worries. Young Jim Hopper’s car won’t start, Bob Newby...

Steven Soderbergh’s Ocean’s trilogy assembled one of the most star-studded ensembles in recent memory, sending a gang of rich and famous people off to a succession of glamorous locations around the world and having them do movie star things like wear expensive clothes, drive fancy cars and trade witty barbs against picturesque backdrops, so it was hardly surprising that the pics veered dangerously close to self-indulgence on occasion.
Of course, Ocean’s Eleven is one of the finest remakes ever, a whip-smart and dazzlingly stylish heist thriller that uses the sheer star wattage of the cast to its advantage, delivering a propulsive slice of massively enjoyable Hollywood entertainment. When it comes to gambling, we all immediately think of roulette. This term is so deeply imprinted in our subconscious that our imagination provides the right images. The reason is easy to explain: Roulette plays a prominent role in many Hollywood films and series. The depiction of roulette has led new users to try the game at online casinos also where users can use free spins on registration no deposit and some other bonuses. You can apply the strategies used from your gambling movies while playing online.
There are, for example, a wide variety of James Bond films that occasionally venture into the casino. Casino Royale is of course the figurehead when we think of James Bond and Roulette. But the Bond film “Specter” is also about gambling. The casino scene with the Bond actor is always a must. What fits better than a game of roulette, a graceful young beauty,...

Henry James’s novella “The Turn of the Screw” has inspired many screen adaptations, most notably Jack Clayton’s “The Innocents,” which starred Deborah Kerr, and a live TV version with Ingrid Bergman that was directed by John Frankenheimer. In the early ’70s, Marlon Brando headlined a memorably nasty prequel called “The Nightcomers,” and movies from this story have been made all over the world. You have to go out of your way to screw up this material.
“The Turning” is an adaptation of “The Turn of the Screw” that takes place in 1994; we hear over the radio that Kurt Cobain has just committed suicide as we meet our heroine Kate (Mackenzie Davis), a cheerful, slightly nerdy woman who has just received a job as a nanny to an orphaned young girl and boy. Stranger Things season 3 finally touched down on Netflix earlier this week and fans rushed to their screens to watch Eleven, Mike, Hopper and the rest of the Hawkins gang on their latest adventure. In fact, a lot of people binged the entire eight-episode third season in one sitting, choosing to skip out on the Independence Day celebrations and instead spend time with the hit supernatural series. A good choice, no doubt.
And, if you decided to stick around for the credits, you’ll know that there was a little surprise at the end which has everyone talking, and for good reason. You see, it takes us to a remote Russian bunker where, among other things, we’re told an American prisoner is being held. Of course, we don’t get to actually find out who this American is, as another prisoner is instead chosen as the one who the Russians feed to their full-grown Demogorgon.

A visibly distressed Millie Bobby Brown washes ashore in today’s new batch of set photos from Stranger Things season 3.
Coming to us by way of Just Jared, these pics were taken in sunny Malibu – and therefore a ways away from the quaint (and fictional) town of Hawkins, Indiana – where Eleven, Brown’s fan-favorite, looks a little worse for wear.
Chances are this particular scene is lifted from an episode in which Eleven pays a visit to Kali and her punk gang, leading to some pretty distressing scenes down at the beach. Millie Bobby Brown’s character is nothing if not conflicted, and we’ve seen before how her psychic abilities gnaw at her fragile mindset, reducing her to a sobbing (and often screaming) mess.
She always pulls through, of course, and single-handedly prevented the Shadow Monster from wreaking havoc during the gripping finale of Stranger Things season 2. However, with...
