A Quiet Place: Day One doesn’t hit theaters until the end of June, but the cast is already hard at work promoting the movie!
Lupita Nyong’o and Joseph Quinn stepped out for a photo call on Wednesday (May 1) at Iet London: Savoy Place in London, England.
Joining the stars for the photo call was Schnitzel the Cat, who plays Lupita‘s cat in the film. After everyone fell in love with the dog from Anatomy of a Scandal when he appeared at press events and awards shows, it seems like this may become a new trend!
A couple months ago, Lupita and Joseph walked the red carpet together at the Oscars.
Watch the trailer for the movie right now. It’s being released in theaters on June 28.

Normally, the summer movie season would kick off with a Marvel superhero movie, but this May, we’re doing things a little differently. Read on for Gold Derby’s box office preview.
This year and for the first time since the pandemic, Marvel isn’t launching the month of May. Instead, Universal jumped on the date for its new action comedy “The Fall Guy,” loosely based on the popular ’80s series starring Lee Majors. Two of the Oscar-nominated stars from last year’s blockbuster “Barbenheimer” phenom unite for this new action rom-com from filmmaker David Leitch (“Bullet Train”). Those stars, of course, are Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, who were nominated for Greta Gerwig‘s “Barbie” and Christopher Nolan‘s Best Picture-winning “Oppenheimer,” respectively, two of the biggest movies of 2023. “The Fall Guy” premiered at the SXSW Film and TV Festival and even played at the annual exhibitors’ convention, CinemaCon,...

Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt are ready to leap into action later this week when The Fall Guy races into theaters. As the blistery winter winds blow away and the summer heat increases in certain parts of the world, the duo’s new action-packed homage to stunt performers arrives to take the box office (and your wallet) by storm! Analysts expect The Fall Guy to reach $30M+ in its opening gambit, with some studio execs saying the film could reach $35-40 million.
While a box office opening in the 30s would be solid for an original action film, The Fall Guy cost a reported $130 million to produce. If you like the film, be sure to sing its praises from the rafters. Word of mouth goes a long way with films like this, regardless of the fact that two of Hollywood’s heaviest hitters lead the charge. Meanwhile, The Fall Guy...

On Saturday, WeAreMovieGeeks.com got a sneak peek at the Fall Guy Stuntacular at Universal Studios Hollywood. Based on the upcoming reboot of the 80’s classic TV series, The Fall Guy Stuntacular is a limited running show at the popular movie theme park. Presented just before the Water World stunt show at Universal, this new show features many of the big stunts from the movie. And as if that wasn’t enough, Ryan Gosling, star of the new film was on hand to treat the invited audience to the first look at the stunts and the stunt men and women who make it all possible. Gosling called the film, “a love letter to the stunt community” that has been overshadowed for years. Laughs were also abound, as Gosling doubled down on his likeability and comic chops, joking with the crowd and director of the film David Leitch who was also in attendance.

“Satan is his father and his name is Adrian!” shouts the coven leader Roman Castevet at the end of 1968’s. Rosemary’s Baby. “He shall overthrow the mighty and lay waste their temples. He shall redeem the despised and wreak vengeance in the name of the burned and the tortured.”
Even when making allowances for Roman’s (Sidney Blackmer) understandable delight at seeing his plan come to fruition, that’s a lot of expectation to put on a newborn, no matter who his father might be. Unfortunately, the sequels chronicling Adrian’s rise to power didn’t quite live up to those expectations. Neither the 1976 TV movie Look What’s Happened to Rosemary’s Baby, in which Patty Duke subs in for Mia Farrow, nor original author Ira Levin’s follow-up book Son of Rosemary (1997) manages to deliver what Roman promised.

The last time I spoke to Noah Jupe was four years ago when he was just 15 years old. It was over Zoom, and he was promoting HBO’s “The Undoing” from a Detroit hotel room, where he was under mandatory quarantine waiting to be cleared to start work on Steven Soderbergh’s “No Sudden Move.”
At the time, Jupe’s list of credits already included “The Night Manager,” “Suburbicon,” the first two “A Quiet Place” films and “Ford v Ferrari.” He had earned a Spirit Award nomination for his work starring role in “Honey Boy,” director Alma Har’el’s drama loosely based on Shia Labeouf’s childhood.
The British actor is now 19 and I’m meeting him once again over Zoom — this time, he’s in his London-area home — for this week’s “Just for Variety” podcast. He’s promoting Apple TV+’s “Franklin.” The limited series follows Benjamin Franklin,...

Plot: Nicolas Cage stars as a father desperately trying to take care of his two sons in equally heartfelt and innovatively terrifying post-apocalyptic vision from director and lauded visual effects artist Ben Brewer.
Review: It’s hard not to perk up when seeing Nicolas Cage‘s name attached to a project these days. Not only is it guaranteed to have a great performance, but he tends to take on very interesting work. Hell, I can’t remember the last generic movie the man was in. And no matter his role, he always elevates the material. So slap Mr. Cage in the middle of a post-apocalyptic world and I feel right at home. But where Arcadian stumbles is its lack of true identity.

The sci-fi horror A Quiet Place franchise is heading to New York with its latest entry, A Quiet Place: Day One, which is set to reach theatres on June 28th. With the film’s release date just a couple months away, it was no surprise to hear that Paramount was promoting it at CinemaCon in Las Vegas. Those in attendance for the Paramount panel today were shown an extended trailer for the film – and JoBlo’s own Lance Vlcek was there to tell us what he saw!
Lance sent in the following description of the trailer: “Set in New York. Lupita Nyong’o looks up to see the aliens shooting down to earth as everyone in the city looks at what seems to be meteors raining down. Everything goes wild, chaos in the streets, everyone is getting attacked/killed as Nyong’o hides under a truck. A man tries to hide with her,...

Sound might be instant death in the world of "A Quiet Place," but that's not stopping Paramount Pictures from making some noise with the newest installment of this unexpectedly successful franchise. First kicked off by director and star John Krasinski in 2018, the high-concept genre movie instantly stood out as an original, well-crafted, and thoroughly engrossing experience at the theater. And since anything done well these days is apparently always worth doing twice, if not more, that effort led to a sequel just two years later. Now, we're on the cusp of a prequel movie that aims to turn back the clock all the way to ground zero of the alien invasion with "A Quiet Place: Day One."
So how long has this film been in the works? Well, let's put it this way: this week's CinemaCon held in Las Vegas has been expected to debut new footage of the origin story,...

Paramount’s A Quiet Place: Day One is getting ready to bring chills to audiences.
Stars Lupita Nyong’o and Joseph Quinn on Thursday introduced extended footage of the prequel to movie theater owners gathered in Las Vegas this week for CinemaCon, where they are being briefed by Hollywood studios on their upcoming slates (the footage won’t be shared outside the room, since the movie is close to opening and there have been numerous trailers already).

Paramount Pictures CEO Brian Robbins got cheeky about the sales talks surrounding his corporate parent Paramount Global.
In a presentation to worldwide theater owners at the annual Las Vegas convention CinemaCon, Robbins got right to the point in his opening remarks about what’s next for his team. The actor-turned-executive asked the crowd at Caesars Palace if they’d heard about recent speculation over the sale before announcing that “my colleague Chris Aronson is also raising money to make a bid for the studio; he has a Kickstarter.”
The joke was accompanied by a mock news report featuring Paramount film distribution president Aronson, who was pictured holding a cardboard sign soliciting donations. “Anything helps,” it read.
Aronson is known for his deep ties to the theater owners and for splashy CinemaCon entrances. It may be super inside baseball, but the crowd ate it up. Though Robbins ultimately avoided any material...

Set for release on Sept. 27, Never Let Go centers on a mother and her twin sons as they try to protect themselves from evil lurking in and around their home. Needing to stay connected at all times — always by a connection of ropes — they hold tight to one another and never let go. However, one of the boys questions if the evil is real, triggering a terrifying fight for survival. Anthony B. Director Bryan Bertino crafted a classic of the home invasion genre when "The Strangers" hit theaters in 2010. Now, Lionsgate has teamed up with director Renny Harlin ("Deep Blue Sea") to revamp the franchise with not just one movie, but an entire trilogy that will not just remake the first film, but further explore these mysterious killers across three full movies. The studio is deeply committed, as all three movies are already in the can. Hence, they brought some new footage from "The Strangers: Chapter 1" to this year's CinemaCon, and I was on hand to see what they had to show us. Buckle up, horror fans.
Harlin explained in an interview with /Film that he hopes to "answer some of those questions that I think all of us who enjoyed the original were left wondering" such as "Why? Who were the Strangers? Why did they do this? Is this completely really random,...

The talk inevitably turned political at the press conference for Michael Douglas’ forthcoming series “Franklin,” in which he stars as the scientist and statesman.

Michael Douglas and the cast of Franklin touched down in Cannes today with a message. Speaking to press ahead of the world premiere screening of the series at Canneseries on Wednesday evening, the actor said the Apple TV+ period drama is a great reminder of “how fragile democracy is and how generous France was.”
The series was entirely filmed in France, and Douglas spoke about returning to the country to launch the show before it’s bow on Apple TV+ on April 12. “It’s coals to Newcastle – this is where our whole project is based: It is the story of Benjamin Franklin coming to France to save America.”
The star, a French speaker and regular at the Cannes Film Festival, added: “The least we could do was come back and say, ‘Thank you, France – thank you first for saving America. [We are] reminding everyone of that story and role France played – and...

It's been almost two decades since John Krasinski was introduced to the world as the floppy-haired, baby-faced Jim Halpert in NBC's "The Office." Since then he's grown up, grown a beard, and grown into a successful career as a director, which truly took off after his horror film "A Quiet Place" grossed more than $340 million worldwide.
"It's very hard to step outside of your comfort zone -- all the way from 'The Office,' to deciding to do a genre movie," Krasinski told Total Film magazine. His upcoming movie "If" (an acronym for imaginary friends) was another "huge departure, and a big swing." Fortunately, he had an old friend from his comfort zone along for the ride: his "Office" co-star Steve Carell is in the movie as the voice of Blue, a big huggable purple creature that only Bea (Cailey Fleming) and her upstairs neighbor (Ryan Reynolds) can see.

Giant spider-like alien monsters can be terrifying, but do you know what's really scary? Grain silos. 24 Americans died in them in 2022 alone, which might seem surprising considering how light each individual bit of grain is. It doesn't seem like it should take about 400 lbs of force to pull out a person who's waist-deep in flowing grain, but it does. It also doesn't seem like someone fully submerged in a grain silo would suffocate to death within 90 seconds, but they would. In normal circumstances, you can walk on top of a pile of dry corn relatively fine. But if the silo's being emptied, or if there's an air cavity you can't see from above, you can easily be sucked in.
"Employee #1, age 15, was atop a railroad car watching the unloading of corn from the center bin compartment," reads one of hundreds of accident reports from over the years, this one from...

With Wall Street closed in observance of Easter, the stock for worldwide #1 exhibitor AMC Theatres sits at a near-record low of $3.72 after the circuit announced it may sell $250 million in stock because it’s short on cash.
The AMC spin cited disappointing first-quarter 2024 box office, which will end down around nine percent from 2023. However, what went unsaid is April will be much worse.
Last Easter fell on April 9, the same weekend that Universal released “The Super Mario Bros. Movie.” It grossed $575 million of that April’s $900 million total. This year, the month’s biggest contributors will likely be today’s release of “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire,” followed by Alex Garland’s A24 drama “Civil War” (April 12) and Project X horror movie “Abigail” from Universal (April 19). All told, the most optimistic guess for April is $600 million and it could easily be closer to $500 million.

New York Women in Film & Television hosted its 44th annual Muse Awards on Wednesday afternoon in New York City. More than 700 guests gathered at Cipriani 42nd Street to celebrate the achievements of honorees Fran Drescher, Alex Borstein, Kyra Sedgwick, Tantoo Cardinal, Latasha Gillespie, Millicent Simmonds, Michèle Stephenson and Oscar-winner Raney Aronson-Rath.
SAG-AFTRA executive vice president, Linda Powell, accepted an award on behalf of Drescher, who wasn’t able to make it to the gala due to her father’s recent death.
Powell read directly from a statement written by the SAG-AFTRA president, who pointed out personal challenges she faced in 2023 during the historic Hollywood strikes. “I couldn’t escape the misogyny that plagued press coverage of the strike and our negotiations,” Drescher wrote. “It was disgusting, but I refused and will always refuse to conform to masculine expectations.

This post contains spoilers for "A Quiet Place."
The world in "A Quiet Place" is a post-apocalyptic one, teeming with extraterrestrial monsters who hunt indiscriminately when they hear the faintest sound. Silence means survival in such a world, which offers no luxury to communicate, laugh, or even scream out loud, as these monsters are ravenous and hostile without exception. A chunk of "A Quiet Place" explores what it means to live under such conditions, where a family becomes our focal point as they navigate the horrors, their personal lives perpetually in danger with the monsters encroaching on their personal space. Although these anxieties are embedded in the moments of silence that precede danger, the creature designs in "A Quiet Place" also do a lot of heavy lifting to convey the dread of dealing with an unknown group of hostiles.
Scott Farrar, the VFX supervisor of the film, explained that the...

"It comes for the light! It comes for the light!" Vertical has revealed an official trailer for an indie sci-fi film from the UK titled Light, marking the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Matt Woollard. It's set to open next week on VOD in the US & Canada if anyone wants to give it a look. "Sometimes it's better to be in the dark." Survivors from an interstellar transport ship accident have to work together after crash landing on an inhospitable planet. Woollard explains that he was inspired partially by A Quiet Place: "the idea of doing for light what they did for sound" with this crew trying to figure out what happened and how to survive on this mysterious alien planet. Light stars Christine Roche, Gia Lily, Tedroy Newell, and James Woollard as the boy, plus Anna Swan. For a super low budget sci-fi film, this actually looks good.

Oscar nominees Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt are the Barbenheimer comedy duo we didn’t know we’ve been waiting for in The Fall Guy. Trailer number two shows off more of the chemistry between Gosling and Blunt while also delivering more action, more humor, and enough shirtless Gosling scenes to keep audiences satiated until the film’s theatrical release on May 3, 2024.
Joining Gosling and Blunt in the action comedy are Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Bullet Train), Winston Duke (Black Panther franchise), and Academy Award nominee Stephanie Hsu (Everything Everywhere All at Once).
Drew Pearce (Hobbs & Shaw) wrote the screenplay, stuntman David Leitch directed, with Leitch, Gosling, Kelly McCormick, and Guymon Casady produced. Executive producers include Pearce, Geoff Shaevitz, and the creator of the original Fall Guy television series, Glen A. Larson.

Strap in for the new trailer for David Leitch’s The Fall Guy. The film recently had its premiere at SXSW, where people took to social media to rave about it. And Gosling himself would get one of the industry’s biggest compliments with none other than Steven Spielberg told him how much he loved the movie. One of the most memorable horror blockbusters in recent memory was director John Krasinski's "A Quiet Place." It remains impressive that the guy who played Jim on "The Office" crafted such a refreshing film (with lots of help from screenwriters Scott Beck and Bryan Woods) that has spawned an entire franchise. What tends to happen in the realm of horror is that a string of imitators will follow any major success. Well, the time has finally come as "Arcadian" has unquestionably taken more than a little inspiration from Krasinski's 2018 thriller. That said, this is far more than just a cheap imitation. Moreover, it serves as a showcase for one of our most compelling living actors: Nicolas Cage.
"Arcadian" recently screened at SXSW in Austin, Texas, and I was lucky enough to catch the film. Directed by Benjamin Brewer ("The Trust") and written by Michael Nilon ("Braven"), it's certainly not...

Emily Blunt has had one of the most successful careers in Hollywood. From The Devil Wears Prada, to A Quiet Place, and now Oppenheimer, versatility is one of her strongest suits. She has played serious role, funny roles, complex roles, and even a flying woman. Through her talent, she has earned respect and an Oscar nomination, proving herself to be a force to be reckoned with.
Emily Blunt as Kitty Oppenheimer in Oppenheimer
However, there will always come a movie in an actor’s career, which will tank in ratings and be a massive flop. The experience is unavoidable, and unfortunately Blunt is not exempt from it. In 2010, the actress starred in a movie called The Wolfman. The film was a massive flop and found it very difficult to maintain relevant.

Despite his fame in other historical adaptations and, you know, history, Benjamin Franklin doesn't really feature much in Hamilton, possibly the most well-known blend of American Revolutionary fact and fiction in recent years. But the kite-flying, phrase-spewing Founding Father is now the focus of an Apple TV+ drama starring Michael Douglas. Get all about the Benjamin here:
Not claiming to be a cradle to grave treatment of Franklin's life, Franklin – adapted from Stacy Schiff's book A Great Improvisation: Franklin, France, And The Birth Of America – instead focuses on one specific chunk, when he's tasked with a vital mission. On Wednesday, Apple TV+ revealed the trailer for “Franklin,” a limited series starring Oscar and Emmy winner Michael Douglas as Benjamin Franklin. The historical drama premieres on April 12.
