Promising for sure
DharmaL27 September 2017
I generally do not like sit-coms these days as too many rely on formulaic structure, lazy writing and/or crude humor (I'm looking at you, Two Broke Girls), but I find Me, Myself and I promising.

I don't recall ever seeing a show with this concept, simultaneously depicting a character's life in three different time periods; the premise itself caught my attention enough to give it a go.

Kudos to the casting department who assembled a great group. While others have criticized the height discrepancy between the two adult Alexes, I think it's brilliant.

I look forward to seeing what's in store.

P.S. A special note to the network-type people: stop killing shows before they can get their foot hold. Remember ... Cheers was 74th out of 77 shows its first season and went on to be one of the most popular series of ALL TIME.

Cautiously Optimistic

The way in which the story is told is unique and a welcome respite from TV shows that move at a frenetic pace, i.e. Modern Family, American Housewife. Not sure how long the "originality" of the show will keep my interest, but John Larroquette is always good to watch. The story has heart and it will be interesting to see where it goes. My only beef is that, in stage 3 of the character's life, Larroquette's middle school crush is played by Sharon Lawrence who is some 16 years younger, and looks it. Not very plausible. Perhaps I will have something to actually look forward to on TV.

concept more problematic than not
SnoopyStyle22 July 2018
This is three points in the life of nerdy inventor Alex Riley. In 1991 at age 14, he moves to California after his stewardess mother marries airline pilot Ron. Ron already has a son named Justin. Alex has a crush on Nori Sterling and makes a friend with fellow nerd Darryl. In 2017 at age 40, Alex (Bobby Moynihan) is a struggling inventor with his best friend Darry (Jaleel White). His ex-wife Sarah is moving away threatening to take their daughter Abby with her. In 2042 at age 65, Alex (John Larroquette) is a successful retiring entrepreneur with Abby (Kelen Coleman) taking over the company. He runs into Nori/Eleanor (Sharon Lawrence) who is the owner of a diner. Justin (Ed Begley Jr.) is now the governor.

The concept of running three time lines with the same guy may be a pitch winner. In execution, it runs into some difficulties. I actually like the kids' story. The problem is that the other time lines reveal the future of these characters. It leaves the kids without the drama of the unknown. The only one without a known future is the Larroquette time line but it only has one interesting reveal possibility. It would probably work much better without the Larroquette storyline. Three time lines are too many. Also, Nori needs to be in Moynihan's time line. This high concept is simply one level too high.

Cancelled!!! Are You Kidding Me...
alainbourget22 November 2017
This sitcom was the best show of the 2017 Fall season. It was funny, and well written. The cast was perfect for this type of show. I was expecting it to run for at least 4 or 5 years. I hope Netflix, Amazon or Apple will buy the rights and make it the next Big Bang Theory success.

A good and enjoyable show
lachlanb-8941126 September 2017
I had decent hopes for this show after watching the trailer and I have to say it pretty much lived up to them. I'm not going any detail but I really liked he concept and plot line the show had developed. My biggest criticism is that when the show switches between the different ages it loses the connection/link between each story/time line which has a bit of an impact on how you enjoy the show. Overall a good show that is entertaining. 7.5/10 (Closer to seven than 8 explains my rating. (Sorry about the wording I wrote this quickly)

David AND GOLIATH

To be honest, i've only seen the pilot episode. It was very sweet, charming, everything that CBS prides itself in romantic comedies (Too bad Big Bang went that way). Anyway, i was drawn to it purely for John Larroquette who is one of the greatest television actors.. i mean Night Court!! Nobody else can do the things he did, and be pure comic genius, and be vulgar, sexy, and wanting more and more of his presence because he's too damn good! I couldn't continue the show because how inaccurate biologically it is! John Larroquette is 6'4, Bobby Moynihan (miss him on SNL) is 5'7, and they look nothing alike in present time anyway! That reason for being turned off the show might be trivial, but hey so am i...

Refreshing and Original!
JazzKat6011 October 2017
It is so hard to find anything that we can watch as a family but we just love this show. It's a feel good show for sure but not in a fake way. Even my husband (who watches very little TV), likes this show. I hope the network gives it a chance. With everything going on in the world, we need shows like this. Jack Dylan Grazer is HILARIOUS as the younger Alex.

Heart-warming story about the ups and downs of life
preston_elizabeth26 September 2017
This TV is much better than I expected it to be. The 1991 time period is certainly the most interesting and well-done in my opinion, but the middle aged and aging Alex both have much to add to the story as well. The story is refreshing and true to life as there are certainly disheartening moments in Alex's life, but there is always a shred of hope in any situation. I also love the fact that they didn't fall for the stepfather trope, and that Alex and him have a beautiful relationship. The standout is certainly Jack Dylan Grazer as Alex and I hope we can see him in more in the future!

I used to love IMDb, but it has gotten to where you just can't trust reviews or ratings any longer. THIS show is a prime example.

First, the good. While I normally don't like shows with kids in them unless they are highlighting the kids, the child actors in this are GREAT and the only reason I am giving it a 2 instead of a 1. Their delivery is spot-on and their story is cute.

That said, and please forgive me for coming across as shallow, but how did such a cute kid become the later versions of his supposed self? The two older versions are not visually appealing and truthfully, there is so much more to watch or do than to dedicate time to watching something which is not visually appealing. Granted that the 'middle' version of the character's story had a couple of pretty funny moments, it wasn't enough to discount the rest of his story arc.

The older version of him was just plain DULL.

I would definitely recommend watching the first episode as it really isn't that long, after which I think you'll come to the same conclusion that this is not destined to be a hit and that the current reviews don't seem all that kosher.

Why only six (6) episodes? 🍦 C'Mon! As dad would say "Ya gotta keep shooting!"
Ed-Shullivan25 September 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I trust the producers of Me, Myself and I will come to their senses and extend this wonderful new series beyond six (6) episodes. This comedy series carries a great message for young and old, boys and girls, women and men. That message came through loud and clear "Ya gotta keep shooting!"

It is extremely difficult for television writers to cram in enough story in a 30 minute pilot episode sitcom to provide a good outline of what their audience should expect with their series creation but somehow these creative geniuses did a great job in encapsulating three generations of a boy named Alex Riley played concurrently by three actors who are Jack Dylan Grazer (Alex at age 14), Bobby Moynihan (Alex at age 40), and John Larroquette (Alex at age 65).

I know it sounds ridiculous but when you see young Alex (Jack Dylan Grazer) whose mother is re-marrying and moving them from Chicago (home of Alex's sports hero Michael Jordan) to Los Angeles which is Koby Bryant territory young Alex is devastated. Alex's new stepfather at first appears to be the reincarnation of Cinderella's cruel stepmother, but as the show progresses we find out that when Alex wants to just give up as life is just not going his way, it is his stepfather that offers both the young and middle age Alex's those words of wisdom "Ya gotta keep shooting". Now for a sitcom these inspirational words may seem simple enough, but they are so greatly inspirational not only to the young Alex and middle aged Alex's, but as Alex turns 65 and he is in the process of retiring from his successful business the pilot episode ends with Alex remembering his stepfather's inspirational words "Ya gotta keep shooting", and so he does, never giving up on his first and true love.

This is more than just a sitcom, it may remind us of some part of our own past life occurrences, or the worst day in our lives to date, or maybe it will remind us of our own inspirational people in our own lives. Regardless, it did stir up in me some old memories good and bad. What I will retain from Me, Myself and I and young Alex in his three stages in life at ages 14, 40 and age 65, is that all lives (especially our own lives) are worth living. If we listen to our family, our friends, our mentors, life will always pleasantly surprise us, as there is more good in the world than there is bad. Such is the case with this wonderful inspirational new series Me, Myself and I.

A perfect 10 (age 14) / 10 (age 40) / and 10 once again (for Alex at age 65)!

Not funny or interesting
cherold5 October 2017
I'm a big fan of "high concept" TV, so a series that tells a man's life story through three different periods is inherently interesting to me. But then, I also like my comedies to be funny, which is a big issue with Me, Myself and I.

In the pilot we see the protagonist Alex at three major life changes. As a kid his mom remarries, in his 40s he gets a divorce, and when he's old he retires.

None of these guys are all that interesting, nor do they look like they're from the same family, much less the same person. In the pilot the three parts are not connected that well, so that there's no real sense of why the story is told as it is.

But mainly, I just didn't laugh. None of these manages to be more than mildly, very occasionally, amusing.

One final objection. In the old age part, Alex meets a female classmate from elementary school. So they're the same age. But the actress is 16 years younger than the actor, and looks every bit of it. It's not atypical of Hollywood, but then, that's the thing about this series. In spite of the attempt at some ingenuity, this is just another unfunny and predictable Hollywood sitcom.

Funny, touching, clever — great fun!
luke-594-88630525 September 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I can't believe MM&I got us to start caring about Alex, via 3 characters, with only 30 minutes to split between them. 8 minutes per show to tell each story. Phew!

The triptych storyline is a brilliant, original idea. I truly love it — and I consider myself super picky. It's a really unique framework with huge potential! It has the magnetism audiences are always drawn to in countless sci-fi time-machine stories, but without the ridiculous conceit of a sci-fi time machine!

And the time shifting can be played forward or reverse: very clever. An event happens today: what's the butterfly effect in the future? A small poignant moment in the future: reveals a meaningful past.

The intercuts between timelines at key moments is well done and surprisingly affecting. 'There she goes' plays at 14 — cut to car radio at 40. Awesome. Stealing fries from CEO friend at 40 — cut (backwards) to 14 w/ new brother-in-law introducing the idea. Awesome. After dinner mint. Yes.

Anyone older than a teenager knows that as you age your life is peppered with the shrapnel of youth. Broken moments that have deep meaning for yourself and are lost to the rest of the world. Touching.

Other super efficient storytelling I loved: Alex is introduced in the first 10 seconds by showcasing his passion for invention (Rube Goldberg machine) and Bulls (posters / jersey / game on TV) in one tracking shot. Incredible. Also loved efficiency of stick-figure-family on car, before and after. Just great.

Huge kudos to the writers and creators. It is obvious there's a lot of veteran writing and production behind this fun, funny, heartfelt, piece. I hope it has legs for miles.

We look forward to a great season!

I love this show!
nmcp-861135 October 2017
This show is a breath of fresh air. It's funny, sweet, irreverent, and makes me PRAY that they don't mess it up and get it canceled. Please give it some more press, CBS! The child actor who plays Alex is a total gem. Of course Bobby Moynihan is hilarious and has a sweet, innocent quality. Then there is the legend, John Larroquette. This cast is unbelievable, and they can go the distance if they keep up this momentum.

Utterly Charming Show!
moonshadowstudio6 October 2017
I really love this show! It's refreshing and charming. I like all of three Alex's - especially older Alex! The dialogue is believable and the story is engaging. I found myself really rooting for all the Alex's and I'm excited to see how things turn out for him! Alex's daughter (both young girl and young woman) are terrific! Thanks for a delightful show! Keep it going!

I will give this one more try
Sober-Friend25 September 2017
As a 14-year-old boy in 1991, Alex Riley and his mom move from Chicago to Los Angeles when she remarries. In present day, 40-year-old Alex's life has hit both a personal and professional standstill. In 2042, at 65, Alex has a realization that to be truly happy, he has to step away from his successful company and get back to his passion... inventing. "Me, Myself & I" follows him through each of these pivotal periods, revealing where the past informs the future, and the moments where he learns that his story isn't defined by what happens to him, but by how he decides to deal with it

I have seen worse pilots BUT I ALSO HAVE SEEN BETTER. I love the cast and know all of them are great actors. I think if they jettison the time shift gimmick (Dump the 1991 era) then we can focus on adults and have a better show!

Beyond Comedy
TV guide8 October 2017
If this were just about a 14-year-old budding inventor who has to switch to a new school, it would be a good show about the awkward life of a teen. But by adding the scenes about two later periods in his life, raising his daughter after his divorce at 40 and reconnecting with a lost love after his retirement at 65, they have added poignancy that raises it to a level beyond mere comedy.

The only problem I have with it is that so far, the 40-year-old does not seem to have the same personality as the 14-year-old and the 65-year-old, and this seems to me to be the weakest part of the show. But we'll see.

Warning: Spoilers
I watched the pilot....then 5 minutes into episode 2 I pulled the plug 1. It wasn't funny 2. His life isn't interesting 3. The dance floor kiss/choke scene was just bad...everything about it 4. I'm not liking watching a 7th grade girl moving in slow motion...if you aren't in middle school you shouldn't either. 5. His mid life experience (again) wasn't funny...or interesting...or believable 6. 60 year old him...wasn't him...and (again) wasn't funny...or interesting...his lost love is clearly not the same age (and his retirement scene was there for what reason?) and old people being romantic...outside of my interest (like 7th graders being romantic) 7. Kids might relate to 1/3 adults might relate to 1/3 older people might relate to 1/3........so 2/3 of it is unrelatable to everyone .... Episode 2 five minutes in...remind me (replay it why don't you?) how bad the dance floor kiss/choke scene was...show me a 7th grader walking in slow motion again...and then show me that middle aged Alex moved his little daughter into a garage with him and everybody was all right with it.................... Stop...No

p.s. (again) wasn't funny!

Great new idea!
curtandteresa27 September 2017
This show brings something that you won't find in the typical "laugh track" sitcom. It has heart and depth, but also laughs that are genuine and not forced. An excellent cast brings decades of experience in both drama and comedy and give us a premise unlike what most other shows have to offer. Can't recommend this enough!

utkuforever17 October 2017
I watched a lot of TV series in this genre, but this is just exceptional. Every time i watch one of the episodes i feel different but all good feelings as if this was made to fill people with only good feelings and the way that its plot has been created shows us clearly that it is a work of masters. It is an awesome TV series and you can watch it alone or with someone or with your family. At the end of each episode you will see things differently and you will learn to never take anything for granted!

CBS don't F*@K this UP!!!
giannibalduzzo2 October 2017
This show has a refreshing perspective that has never being seen on television for a long time. I happened to come across this show by accident. CBS did poor marketing for this show, and as we have seen with many awesome shows that big companies cut because it didn't get "enough" ratings or views, I fear Me, Myself and I will head down the same path if CBS does not step up their game. Great Show, humorous, interesting and entertaining. #memyself&I.

The Positive Reviews Are False
bonniefrank-7011928 September 2017
I saw many reviews on this show and they are fake. THIS THE ONLY THING THEY REVIEWED! SO it is almost a fact that the creators of this show or people that hake a finical attachment to this stupid show are the ones posting the make reviews.

This is the 2nd Comedy to debut on CBS on Monday it this was just as bad as "Young Sheldon".

The time jumping gimmick for this show is joke. The lead in the show is likable but he is given weak material here.

If CBS wants this show to work they need to see the future scripts for future episodes. I am sure that the script pilot was bad. SO why was made to begin with?

For This is Who You Are
nannyjo24 October 2017
A tangent first, if you will grant me the time...

Is anyone familiar with Trans-Syberian Orchestra's "Bethoven's Last Night?"

There is a song in there "This is Who You Are" of which some of the lyrics are:

Wandering inside this night Finding pieces of a life Never sure I'd ever know what it means

It's the strangers in your life That you'd never thought you'd meet It's the hand that picked you up When you're laying in the street

It's then hand that cut you down It's the dream that someone shared When you thought that all was lost It's the friend that wasn't there

You can run from all the memories But never get that far For in the end they'll find you For this is who you are Change one note Change one line Nothing's going to be the same Change one loss Change one cut Everything is rearranged

Every act Cruel of kind Lost inside our memory If you look There in time

You'll find it in, Find it in, Find it in, You'll find it in me

This show reminds me very much of those lyrics.

Everything that we experience - no matter how long ago it happened - is all still inside and influences how we see the world we see today.

In the case of this show, it makes for a very sweet heartwarming show. A show that I find very comforting.

I especially like that it doesn't fall into tropes - the brother is nice - not the bully from other shows, the step-father is GREAT, the blended family works together. The father and daughter get along great in the middle age segments, and I love John Larroquette's relationship with the older version of the daughter.

All in all, I really like this show and hope that it lasts a long time.

Weak Sauce, Run-Of-The-Mill, Snoozefest... But at least it's not funny.
elektrifyd8 July 2018
If you are interested in another poorly written, poorly (over)acted, predictable sit-com then this gem is for you. I found it to be an awesome insomnia fix. Whenever I can't sleep I slap on an episode of this show and BAM next thing I know I'm waking up. Works even better than warm milk. Thank you CBS for another vanilla sit-com with zero imagination. I saw one review entitled, "Funnier than Young Sheldon" and I agree. That reviewer found the only show on TV less funny than Me Myself and I. Way to set the bar on the ground. I actually felt myself losing IQ points as this show went on. Only one season was still one too many.

I really enjoyed the first episode! It has the perfect combination of drama, comedy, romance and quirkiness great for all ages! The second episode didn't disappoint, I love the cast of characters as they pull you into this down to earth story that everyone can relate to. Keep it coming! I hope 6 episodes isn't all. Love, love, love it!!! Absolutely a fabulous family show!🤓

bill-2205628 July 2018
One of the best shows on TV since Seinfeld and now it is gone. We can sit as a family and watch this brilliantly written show. Not have to worry about sex, drugs, F words, etc..... just good humor. A show that the kids as well as the parents could watch together. So sorry to see a good clean show like this go.
