The newest ‘Law & Order’ spin-off has seen consistently better ratings on Peacock than on linear NBC to this point.
Eliot Stabler is coming back for at least one more ride. The popular character portrayed for 25 years by actor Christopher Meloni is the star of “Law & Order: Organized Crime,” the latest member of the franchise originated by Dick Wolf. “Organized Crime” was stuck in limbo while waiting to find out if it would be renewed for a fifth season or not, but it appears that NBCUniversal has finally made a decision. A new report from Deadline indicates that “Law & Order: Organized Crime” will move to Peacock for an abbreviated Season 5, and if it’s successful, could return for more episodes.
Key Facts: Season 5 of “Law & Order: Organized Crime” will consist of 10 episodes. The show has consistently performed better on Peacock than it has on linear NBC. Peacock...

CBS Executive Explains How Network Decides Which Shows Air on Linear TV and Which Head to Paramount+
Speaking with Vulture, CBS president George Cheeks gave fascinating insight into how his company decides which shows premiere where.
CBS took a big hit from the failure of Hollywood executives to strike a timely deal with writer and actor unions in 2023. Despite CBS being the No. 1-rated network for 15 years, ratings dropped by more than 30% for CBS last fall season as compared to the previous season’s and shows like “Ghosts” and “Young Sheldon” have just recently made their way back to airwaves with new episodes. In response to a lack of new scripted episodes due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, CBS began airing titles like “Star Trek: Discovery” and “Yellowstone,” some of which were formerly streaming exclusives on Paramount+. CBS president and CEO George Cheeks recently sat down with Vulture to explain why his network doesn’t plan to line up a wide variety of streaming exclusives for...

It’s hard to believe how many hurdles Seal Team has survived throughout its run.
The hit military drama started as a CBS original and was moved to Paramount+ as a streaming original several years ago amid concerns for its future.
After beating the odds for so many years, we’re about to say goodbye for good as Seal Team Season 7 will conclude the David Boreanaz-led drama.
While the seventh season was ordered over a year ago, fans have been anxiously awaiting word on a premiere date.
Thankfully, Boreanaz took to Instagram to share an update on the premiere date and a first look at the script for the series finale.
The actor noted that the “last word is on the table,” before sharing, “August here we come.”

“Days of our Lives” fans will see an unfamiliar face in a familiar role when soap newcomer Natasha Hall temporarily replaces Jessica Serfaty as Sloan Petersen for at least three episodes during the week of March 4-8, 2024.
Hall, best known for playing Yvette over three episodes in “The Kominsky Method” during the third season of the Netflix original series, will appear in scenes alongside several Salemites, including Jamie Martin Mann (Tate), Emily O Brien (Theresa) and Greg Vaughan (Eric), among others.
Soap Opera Digest, which first reported the news, did not provide a reason for the temporary recast. Meanwhile, the current storyline sees Sloan dealing with the guilt of knowing that Jude, the child she and Eric are raising, is actually Nicole (Arianne Zucker) and Eric’s biological baby.
“When and if Nicole and Eric learn the truth will be something to tune in for!” teased the show’s executive producer,...

On Saturday, audiences in Berlin will see the world premiere of “Above the Dust,” a Chinese-made drama that plays somewhat incongruously in the Generation Kplus section, which screens films for or about children. Whether the film plays again, and where, is moot.
The film’s director Wang Xiaoshuai, a three-time winner of Silver Bear awards at the Berlinale, is taking a considerable personal risk going ahead with the screening in the absence of approval from the mainland Chinese authorities.
With a young teen boy as the protagonist, the film depicts a hardscrabble family in a village in northwest China in 2009. While their neighbors slowly migrate to the city, the boy’s parents dig up the arid land in search of family heirlooms. Communicating with the ghost of his grandfather, the boy learns about the 1950s reforms that transferred peasant-owned land to the government and about the disastrous Great Leap Forward.

Paramount has decided to not move forward with a second season of “Wolf Pack,” Variety has confirmed.
Based on Edo Van Belkom’s book series and created by Jeff Davis, the show follows two teens whose lives are changed when a California wildfire awakens a supernatural creature. Season 1 aired in Jan 2023 alongside the “Teen Wolf” movie. Sarah Michelle Gellar, Rodrigo Santoro, Armani Jackson, Bella Shepard, Chloe Rose Robertson and Tyler Lawrence Gray starred.
Sources say Paramount hoped the audience behind the series would have grown from Season 1 to Season 2, but due to the dual Hollywood strikes, the likelihood of that happening was cut short since production was stopped. Season 2 would’ve arrived roughly two years after Season 1 debuted.
The series serves as the latest Paramount+ original to be canceled following “Joe Pickett,” which ended after two seasons in October 2023. Along with the rest of last year’s cancellations including “iCarly,...

One of the things that made "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" so addictive was the forbidden romance with the vampire Angel. He is a bad-boy-turned-good, a very handsome demon who was cursed with a soul that made him into a noble warrior for good guys — unless, of course, he experiences one moment of true happiness.
The character was such a major part of the show that he even earned his own spin-off, "Angel." More importantly, he provided the first romantic counterpart for "Buffy," and what's a teen soap without some romance? But he wasn't just any boyfriend — he was mysterious, he was dangerous, and he was a part of her demonic world. However, Angel did present one major problem: he challenged the central metaphor of the series. In fact, series creator Joss Whedon didn't even want him in the show at first.

Bravo Team, as we know it, is probably over.
That much we've been pondering since Seal Team Season 6 wrapped up this year with Jason opening up about his afflictions.
With many other SEALs coming to his side, it gave the sense that the show was traveling in a very different direction.
With Seal Team Season 7 officially serving as the last-ever hurrah for the series, there have been many questions about where the show could go next.
Now, months away from the season premiere, we're getting an idea... and it sounds pretty darn interesting.
Deadline reported this week that Beau Knapp (The Lost Symbol) has been handed the series regular role of Drew Franklin.
Yes, the series is adding a new series regular with just 10 episodes to wrap up the story of every other returning character.

Tori Amos and The Buggles’ Trevor Horn have teamed up for a cover of Kendrick Lamar’s 2012 single, “Swimming Pools (Drank),” reimagining it as a moody, modern piano ballad.
Amos and Horn’s take on the song arrives as the opening track on Horn’s new covers album, Echoes: Ancient & Modern. Built around a subdued piano and colored with silky strings, Amos’ multi-layered vocals lead the tune, placing Lamar’s lyricism in a new context. In the liner notes for the new album, Horn explained: “I thought of it as a kind of literate, modern American standard, a rap song open to reinterpretation. I wanted something distinctly 21st-century with original, eloquent lyrics, and my longtime engineer Tim Weidner suggested this.”
Continuing, Horn praised Amos’ creative contributions. “Tori Amos took the idea of adapting Kendrick Lamar’s psyched-up swagger in her stride and made it intensely cinematic,” he said. “I listened...

Seal Team has charted the ups and downs of the Bravo Team since its premiere in 2017.
With the news that Seal Team Season 7 will be the team's last stand, it's starting to feel like the show is being brought back to put the soldiers and their loved ones through the ringer one last time.
For many reasons, Seal Team Season 6 felt like a worthy final chapter for our favorite characters, culminating with one of the most powerful scenes on TV.
Let's dive into why the series should have ended with its most recent season.
Clay Would Probably Have Survived
Max Thieriot headlining Fire Country gave us one of the season's best new shows, but it also paved the way for one of Seal Team's most divisive arcs.
Ben turned a gun on himself on Seal Team Season 6 Episode 8, with Clay managing to get it off of him in the nick of time.

With more than six months of labor actions in the rear-view mirror, the industry is preparing to restart dozens of productions that were shut down while writers and actors sought new and better contracts from studios and streamers.
The end of the SAG-AFTRA strike on Nov. 9 cleared actors to return to work (though the union’s membership still needs to ratify the deal with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers), and also signaled the beginning of prep work on a host of TV series. During the 2020-21 season, Seal Team drew low ratings on CBS and was set to be cancelled. Instead, the execs renewed Seal Team as a Paramount+ exclusive. The hope was that enough viewers would watch on the streaming service to make the renewal worthwhile. Unfortunately for broadcast fans, only four episodes were aired on CBS as a "special presentation" in 2021, and now, due to the industry strikes, the network is airing the entire season. We've been waiting a long time for Seal Team Season 7, but fans who never followed the series to Paramount+ have been waiting much longer to watch Seal Team Season 5.
With CBS opting to air Seal Team Season 5 in its entirety, we thought it'd be a good idea to look back at the first four seasons so that you're all ready to go when the series returns to CBS.
The good news? Unlike Yellowstone, there should be minimal cuts as Seal Team touches back down on CBS.
Thanks to international agreements, the show didn't change much when it became a Paramount+ original series in 2021.
The Team is In Mourning
There were plenty of emotional developments on Seal Team Season 4, which ended with the tragic news that Scott Carter, aka Full Metal, had died.
The sad news broke on Seal Team Season 4 Episode 16, which put many things into perspective for the remaining team members.

Exclusive: The TV pilot scheme that unearthed Disney+ hit Extraordinary is launching a funded development slate to help shepherd projects without agency representation from script to screen.
From this year, the best scripts from the Thousand Films and Grey Seal Media program will make their way onto the in-house slate, with Thousand signing former Knight Hall agent Katie Langridge to spearhead the drive.
Charles Dawson’s Thousand and advisor Grey Seal’s program launched in 2019 for UK and Irish scripts from up-and-coming writers, particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds. Emma Moran’s Extraordinary, which launched on Disney+ in January and has already been recommissioned, is the most high-profile to come from the program.
Thousand Films accepts scripts from all writers without agency representation, but has established a ‘benchmark’ reading process, in which new writers’ work is blindly assessed alongside a sample of professional writers’ scripts. Since launch, it has shortlisted writers...
