Safely hidden in Wartburg castle, Luther starts the forbidden translation of the Bible in German, setting the first standard for the written language. Comrades Thomas Müntzer and even Andreas Bodenstein -both physically abused- believe Martin killed long enough to interpret Luther's revolutionary writings and the Gospel more literally then he finds acceptable, the root of a peasant revolt against the authorities, which ransacks churches and especially the 'fat' abbeys, even abolish all clergy. Luther disagrees, even leaves his safety to confront Müntzer and Bodenstein, as he aspires reforming the church, they liberating the oppressed masses and minds. Thomas Müntzer leads the armed revolt, which is bloodily crushed in a battle at Frankenhausen by imperial and princely troops and mercenaries.
