They are aware
I have seen the plot of looking for something interesting and then just missing it before. I still love this episode if only because it goes into a lot of detail as usual and has awesome stuff going on. True, we don't ourselves get to see the main stuff at the end, but we still see most of it. I like the jokes of Darwin getting archaeologically (that's a word?!) planted to the floor and Gumball getting literally planted. There's a great subplot with Banana Joe where he's trying to test out a real lightsaber. Interestingly enough, I heard Disney World actually IS working on a real lightsaber of some sort.
It's interesting that the characters know that they're missing out on watching something cool. Oh, and we get cameos from Clarence, Mordecai and Rigby, and Uncle Grandpa! Hmm, now Gumball and Uncle Grandpa have appeared on each other's shows, they must be in the same universe. But was that as well as the Uncle Grandpa Steven Universe crossover not canon? At least he made it clear that one time. I guess some of these shows probably take place in the same Universe. No wonder poobala doesn't generally touch animation. ***1/2
