Taylor Swift announced her new album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” when she won Best Pop Vocal Album at the Grammys. But Beyonce was like, “Hold my beer,” and revealed during the Super Bowl that she would be dropping new music. Beyonce’s “Act II,” her follow-up to “Renaissance,” is slated for March 29, after which “Tortured Poets” comes on April 19. Perhaps surprisingly, that makes this the first time in 15 years that the two superstars will have competing eras at the Grammys. Will Swift win Album of the Year for the fifth time, or will Beyonce finally win for the first time? Or might they both be overtaken by another artist?
Of course, I must preface this by saying that neither album is out yet, so whether they’ll even be any good has yet to be determined. But considering their creative and commercial consistency over the years, let’s for the...

Taylor Swift performs two surprise songs for the acoustic set during every show of her Eras Tour and she has already performed a ton of incredible tracks during the first U.S. leg.
The 33-year-old singer is getting ready to continue the South American leg of the tour and you might be wondering what songs are remaining.
Taylor made a rule that she’s allowed to repeat songs if she messes them up the first time or if they’re from Midnights, her most recent studio album.
It’s unclear if Taylor is going to continue these rules for the remainder of the tour as she’ll likely reach the point where she has no more songs left to perform!

Taylor Swift has done it again.
Her new album 1989 (Taylor’s Version), a rerecording of her 1989 album, is now the top-selling album in America for 2023 in under one week. It has topped the Billboard 200, along with the vinyl albums and streaming albums charts this week, with over 1.6 million units in the U.S. and over 3.5 million globally. The latter achievement makes her the first artist to score six No. 1 album debuts with over 1 million units sold in history.
1989 (Taylor’s Version) has now surpassed the 2014 first-week sales of 1989, making it the first Taylor Version to net a bigger debut than the original.
Earlier this week, her latest nabbed Swift the record for the most-streamed Spotify album in a single day, a title she previously held with her 2022 album Midnights, which featured all new songs, including hits like “Anti-Hero,” “Karma” and “Bejeweled.”

Rosie Perez slides into a booth at an upscale Italian restaurant in Manhattan. She pushes up the sleeves on her wool sweater dress and settles in to talk about the state of Hollywood. And women in Hollywood. And Latinos in Hollywood. Or maybe that lack of cultural specificity in the homogeneous blob of film content that is created to appeal to the widest possible global audience. On this afternoon in early March, the Academy Awards are still dominating the conversation, and Perez, a supporting actress nominee for the 1993 drama “Fearless,” has some thoughts. “I think Brendan deserved the Oscar,” she says. “But I wouldn’t be mad if Colin had got it for ‘Banshees of Inisherin.’ He did something specific to his culture, right? How many other movies has he done that were specific to his culture?”
“I don’t know. Zero,” I answer.
“Thank you,” she says in acknowledgment of the rarity.

Taylor Swift has officially launched her highly-anticipated stadium tour, The Eras Tour. The sold-out tour is not only massive in venue size and demand, but also in the length of its setlist. For The Eras Tour, Swift performs 44 songs over the course of three hours. Even though The Eras Tour covers 10 studio albums, Swift performs the least amount of songs from her albums Taylor Swift and Speak Now. Here’s why Swift might have purposefully left songs from Speak Now and Taylor Swift off her tour setlist.

Taylor Swift has no fewer than four new albums — Lover, Folklore, Evermore, and Midnights — to cover in the Eras Tour, which was both an opportunity and a major challenge. It wasn’t hard to imagine that she’d end up sidelining the quieter material of Folklore and Evermore in favor of her stadium-shaking pop hits, but instead, she pretty much plays everything, every night.

Taylor Swift may be entering her “mermaid era.”
The “Lavender Haze” singer, who kicked off her Eras Tour in Glendale, Arizona over the weekend, has gone viral after shocking concertgoers with a creative stage trick in which she dove headfirst into a rectangular-shaped hole on stage, wearing a long ruffled dress.
As Swift disappeared beneath the stage, special effects were used to create a graphic of the singer swimming underwater, across the catwalk and back towards the main stage. Then, a huge wave splashed onscreen, sending graphic ripples down the entire stage. As the wave crashed, Swift magically re-appeared onscreen, emerging from a bed in a brand new outfit. Transitioning into her next musical sequence, she climbed a ladder, heading straight for the clouds.

After singing songs from Evermore (2020), Swift asked the audience, “Is it just me or do we have a lot to catch up on?”, in reference to this tour being her first since 2018.

“I just have one question. I’m gonna stop after this but I just have one question,” she said. “Has she … is “Cruel Summer” on the setlist?...

When Taylor Swift released her second album, Fearless, back in 2008, she was a bright-eyed singer-songwriter hoping to make it big in Nashville. Fifteen years later, it’s evident that she’s made it big everywhere. “I don’t know how it gets better than this,” the 33-year-old sings to a stadium of 70,000 people. Every last one of them shares the sentiment.
The five years since Swift’s last tour have been among her most prolific. She’s made four additions to her “family” of albums: 2019’s Lover, 2020’s Folklore and Evermore, and 2022’s Midnights. At the same time, she’s been busy re-recording her first six albums as part of her plan to reclaim the master recordings, following a very public battle with her former record label.

Taylor Swift launched her highly-anticipated “The Eras Tour” (get tickets here) with an instantly-iconic 44-song, three-hour concert at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona on Friday night.
In living up to the tour’s name, Swift’s setlist touched on all eras of her carer, as performed at least one track from all 10 of her studio albums. Additionally, as this marked Swift’s first tour in five years, the show also marked the live debut for many of the songs featured on her latest collection of albums, including Lover, folklore, evermore, and Midnights.
She opened the show with 2019’s Lover by performing “Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince,” “Cruel Summer,” “The Man,” “You Need to Calm Down,” “Lover,” and “The Archer.” Next, she moved to 2008’s Fearless, kicking off with the first performance of the album’s title track in over a decade, followed by “You Belong to Me” and “Love Story.

It wouldn’t be Taylor Swift without some elaborate release coinciding with a major event in her career. To celebrate the Eras tour kickoff in Glendale, Arizona today, the singer is making a trip to the past with re-recordings of “Eyes Open” and “Safe and Sound (featuring the Civil Wars)” from The Hunger Games. Swift also shared “If This Was a Movie” from Speak Now alongside the Lover era vault track “All of the Girls You Loved Before.”

Bill Kong, Asia’s leading film producer, has turned quietly optimistic about the prospects for Chinese cinema. The sales and distribution arm of his Hong Kong-based Edko Films has picked up international sales rights to “Full River Red,” the Chinese film that’s the world’s highest grossing movie with a 2023 release.
The Chinese film industry had a torrid time in 2022, seeing box office plunge to 11-year lows, censorship and bureaucracy take an additional toll, and only a handful of mainland films make it to overseas festivals.
Now, selected distributors in Berlin could be in for a treat.
Directed by venerable Chinese filmmaker Zhang Yimou, period drama “Full River Red” was the number one film in mainland China over the recent Lunar New Year holiday and continues to ride high at the Middle Kingdom box office. To date, it has grossed 541 million in the space of 11 days.

For fans of Chinese martial arts movies, The Grandmaster Of Kung Fu offers a variation on a very familiar theme. Set in the early 20th century while Japan is occupying much of China, national pride for both seems to hinge on whether kung fu is superior to karate, and the question will be determined in a winner-take-all match.
The invaders strive and scheme to assert dominance by demoralizing the local fighters and, consequently, the populace. The Chinese must win to keep their martial arts schools open to maintain its cultural identity despite the occupation. This premise has been recycled a zillion times ever since the Hong Kong action boom of the 1970s, often incorporating historic heroes like Ip Man or Wong Fei Hung. Western viewers will primarily associate Donnie Yen with the former, and Jet Li with the latter.

With a new Grammy ceremony coming on January 31, a few records are poised to be broken. Here are four artists looking to make a splash and cement themselves even more in Grammy history than they already are.
SEE2022 Grammy predictions: R&b album races include tough match-up between H.E.R., Jon Batiste, and Jazmine Sullivan Tony Bennett
This pop standards legend has a couple of records he could break due to his multiple nominations for his Lady Gaga collaboration album, “Love For Sale.” If Bennett wins any category come January, he will become the second oldest person to ever win a Grammy, at 95 years and 181 days. The current record is held by Pinetop Perkins, who won nearing 98-years-old. Furthermore, if Bennett wins one (or both) of his general field nominations, he will be the oldest person ever to win a general field award. He’s already the oldest person ever to be nominated in those categories.

For the Dreamworks Animation film “Spirit Untamed,” composer Amie Doherty had to straddle a difficult line: writing a musical score that worked for both the feature’s target audience of young kids and also their savvier and more emotionally mature parents.
“That’s something we talked about a lot. In particular, in some of the scarier scenes,” Doherty tells Gold Derby during our “Meet the Experts” composers panel. “Sometimes I would pull back and ask those questions. Like how scary can we go with this? It’s a family film but targeted to that younger audience. There are moments where we pulled back the tension a little bit because you have to be aware of the emotions of the children who are watching it. Similarly for some of the sad moments. Particularly the goodbye scene, without giving spoilers, just trying to calibrate the exact amount of how far we should...

Another day, another Taylor Swift fan theory - and we really hope this one is true. It all started on Sept. 29, when Nick Jonas uploaded a rather chaotic video to TikTok that featured a glitch reminiscent of the one seen in Taylor's "Wildest Dreams" TikTok. By now, Swifties know that there are no coincidences when it comes to the Taylorverse, so fans immediately became suspicious that this might be a sign of a potential collaboration between Taylor and the Jonas Brothers.
Later that day, Nick uploaded another TikTok responding to a comment asking who edited the earlier video, while Taylor's song "Me!" played in the background, drawing an even bigger connection to the singer. In the video, Nick takes a bite of a slice of pizza, another familiar symbol in the Taylor Swift fandom. Taylor herself got involved by commenting on Nick's video "iconic," followed by the pizza emoji.

While Taylor Swift was this week’s Saturday Night Live musical guest, she also made a surprise appearance in Pete Davidson’s sketch titled “Three Sad Virgins.” In the musical parody, Davidson roasted the Please Don’t Destroy comedy trio of John Higgins, Ben Marshall and Martin Herlihy who denied being virgins.
Though Davidson claimed the song was about them, he quickly called them out directly and added that they didn’t have “any swag.” As Davidson’s friends protest, he says they just need to get to the bridge...

Taylor Swift’s re-recorded version of her 2012 album “Red” is out now, and the superstar singer stopped by “Late Night” on Thursday to talk to Seth Meyers about the process of remaking her old albums so that she owns the masters.
They started by reminiscing about the first time Swift hosted “Saturday Night Live” when she was 19. Meyers asked her if she gave Majors any advice, and she said no one gave her any advice the first time she hosted, which is weird in retrospect, because she was so young that she really should have been given more guidance.
“Real ball drop on our end,” Meyers admitted.
In any case, Swift was excited to be back on “SNL” and play with her old band again.

The wait is over for Taylor Swift fans as the singer’s re-released version of her album Red is finally out on streaming services and store shelves.
First released in 2012, Swift re-recorded the album this year, after her label Big Machine sold the original masters to Scooter Braun’s Ithaca Holdings. Swift quickly spoke out against the sale, saying it was done without her consultation and effectively put her legacy “in the hands of someone who tried to dismantle it.” The singer announced shortly afterwards that she would re-record her first six albums.

First things first: Let’s skip to the ending. The long-lost 10-minute original version of “All Too Well” turns out to be even better than we were all hoping. Taylor Swift takes her own masterpiece, tears it all up, breaks it like a promise, shreds her tapestry, and rebuilds it into a new heartbreak epic, twice as long and twice as mad. Yes, you just heard Taylor sing the words “fuck the patriarchy.” Yes, you just heard extra verses about this guy meeting her dad and skipping her 21st birthday party.

Taylor Swift officially has a TikTok account, so get ready for even more Easter eggs. On Monday, the 31-year-old singer made her official debut on the social media platform as she promoted her upcoming Red (Taylor's Version) album, which drops on Nov. 19. Set to "Screwface Capital" by Dave, which name-drops the singer, the video shows Swift dressing up as her recent eras, including Folklore, Evermore, Fearless (Taylor's Version), and Red (Taylor's Version). "Lots going on at the moment," she wrote before plugging the vinyl release of Red (Taylor's Version).
Though her TikTok bio reads, "This is pretty much just a cat account," we have a feeling Swift will be dropping even more clues about her upcoming releases on this space. After all, she did end her caption by teasing, "Now let the games begin." Could that be an Easter egg for her rerecorded Reputation album?...

In a move that seemed as inevitable as death and/or taxes, Taylor Swift has joined TikTok. Her first post — scored by British Mc Dave’s “Screwface Capital” — gives an overview of her recent releases and teases the upcoming “Taylor’s Version” re-release of Red.
“Lots going on at the moment,” she captioned the video, which features the singer sporting a series of recent looks, from her Folklore messy bangs-and-nightgown getup to her signature red lip for Red. “Red (my version) vinyl is up for presale on my site and...

Jaskier may soon have another hero to sing earworm-y praises about as The Witcher creator and showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich teases Ciri’s upcoming arc.
On Thursday Schmidt Hissrich joined the leadings ladies of the Netflix fantasy series Freya Allen and Anya Chalotra for a TCA panel to discuss the long-awaited sophomore season, which will debut on December 17. The Witcher Season 2 will follow Henry Cavill’s Geralt of Rivia who, convinced that Yennefer (Chalotra) died at the gruesome Battle of Sodden, seeks to bring Princess Cirilla (Allen) to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen. While the Continent’s kings, elves, humans and demons strive for supremacy outside its walls, Geralt must protect the girl from something far more dangerous: the mysterious power she possesses inside.
“Part of the journey between Ciri and Geralt, this season is also one that involves training to be a Witcher,...

Looking back, it’s amazing that we had a year like 2010 when pop icons Taylor Swift (“Fearless”), Beyoncé (“I Am … Sasha Fierce), Lady Gaga (“The Fame”), and The Black Eyed Peas (“The E.N.D.”) — defining artists in the 2000s and 2010s pop scene — were all nominated for Album of the Year. It’s definitely not a surprise given the genre-bending sounds of those albums, which influenced a whole generation of artists. But ultimately, in what could be considered a bit of an upset or a great triumph — depending on who you ask — Swift had an iconic moment, beating her fellow nominees (most infamously Beyoncé) with her record-breaking sophomore project.

Taylor Swift knows how to keep her fans guessing with Easter eggs. After announcing her rerecorded Red album in June, the singer is back to give fans another sneak peek of what's to come. On Thursday, Swift dropped a coded video message for all the bonus songs that will be featured on the album. If you thought her coded video for Fearless vault songs was hard, just wait until you try to decode this one. As Swift noted herself, the difficulty level is "casually cruel in the name of being honest."

Just like the lyrics of her hit song "22" go, fans were feeling extremely happy and confused at the same time. Thankfully, Swift didn't keep us guessing too long and eventually dropped the full tracklist on social media.
