Does the Entire Psycho Series Justice
ralo2297 April 2017
This was a surprisingly well put together documentary and so much better than I thought it would be. It's everything you'd want a documentary about the Psycho Series to be.

If you don't know what that is, The Psycho Series was a series of YouTube videos created by Jesse Ridgeway, also known by his YouTube alias, McJuggerNuggets, depicting the exploits of a spoiled slacker played by Ridgeway himself with an unhealthy obsession with video games as well as suffering through a dysfunctional family life, particularly his hot-tempered father. The biggest twist is that they portrayed it as if everything was real and believe it or not, it fooled a lot of people. Eventually, the series's story came to a close and it was finally revealed to have been staged which both satisfied and angered many fans.

Despite the fact, that there were a couple of scenes that were so obviously faked (specifically the first ten minutes) most of the film seems very legitimate.

This documentary covers absolutely everything in great detail: How the series was originally conceptualized, the growing popularity of the series, how they overcame certain issues whether it was with production or possible leaks of their charade, how the series affected both Ridgeway himself and his various relationships, and as well as the aftermath of the series finale and how everyone coped with it.

I had no doubt that there was a lot of time and effort put into the production of this series, but I didn't fully realize it until I watched this entire film. It really shows how far some people will go in order to realize their artistic vision even if it means that sacrifices have to made. It takes a lot of true dedication to pull something like the Psycho Series off and I give mad props to Ridgeway and everyone involved in the series.

I can't really go into much detail without going into spoiler territory, so I'll stop there. Whether you're a fan of McJuggerNuggets or not, there's no doubt that this is an incredible story. It's definitely a worthy watch. You can watch it for free on go90.com. I highly recommend that you do.

Amazing Documentary for Juggies and strangers to McJuggernuggets

Warning: Spoilers
I have been a fan of Jesse (McJuggerNuggets) for 3 years. The Psycho Series entertained me after long days at work, and released me from my reality with every upload. Jesse's dedication to his fans is shown in 'Psycho Family'.

'Psycho Family' brought back a lot of memories from the Psycho Series and reminded me how much I love it. It's not just a look at how he made the iconic series. The documentary is an intimate look at how the process affected Jesse, his family, and friends. It's easy to forget about the sacrifice needed to create a series that consumes most of your life, and personal freedom. Having to hide your true self in a character that is hated by many, had to be incredibly challenging.

The SWAT's, death threats, stalkers, and haters is enough to make anyone give up. Although difficult and frustrating, the Ridgway's persevered. They only become closer and stronger as a family. The polar opposite of the Psycho Series. Instead of a son murdering his father, 'Psycho Family' shows us Jesse and Jeff hugging and saying 'I Love You' before taking the stage at VidCon. It's almost surreal to see because for so long, we have seen them as different people/characters. At times, the real people, seem like characters because of how well they did their job during the series.

'Psycho Family' has made me appreciate the entire family even more, and I am waiting for Jesse's next big hit. I have no doubt he will make it. He has the balls to break out of the 'norm' on YouTube, and try to create something revolutionary for the platform, if not film in general.

One of the best Documentaries I've ever watched!
undawn-180656 April 2017
First of all, this review might sound cheesy if you're not a fan of Jesse and his work. However, I am a Juggie, and I respect Jesse for all the hard, talented work that he has put into this series.

This Documentary was literally one of the most tear jerking films I've ever seen. Mainly because of how long I've been with Jesse and all the other fellow Juggies throughout this journey. Ever since the Psycho Series debut in December of 2012, I've stuck along with Jesse and his family, and to see what I would call a monumental tribute to our 4 year journey, I literally began to tear up.

It wasn't until after I saw this Documentary, that I realized how much work, how many sacrifices, and how much time went into this series. Jesse built something from the ground up, something that the entire YouTube community will forever remember, and it's finally all being summed up in this one Documentary. If you want to see what real talent is, what real effort is, what a true YouTuber is, I urge you to take a moment to sit down and admire this amazing piece of art by Jesse Ridgway and Brian Spitz.
