An Average Treehouse, Still Great Fun,
lesleyharris3023 February 2017
Treehouse of Horror XXVII is a great Simpsons episode with some very well written segments and a ton of very funny scenes. It begins with a strong opening, commenting on how they have now struck their landmark 600th episode, featuring some characters who have had a big effect on the series. The closing number at the end of the show was also fantastic, parodying Goldfinger and poking fun of the many Fox series that were canceled after one season.

The first two segments were very average, end of the road, Treehouse of Horror episodes. The Hunger Games one was fun, but spent too much time poking fun at the film series rather than trying to tell a story. Followed by that, the imaginary friend one was a bit humourless, definitely the weakest of the three, consisting of us merely watching characters get killed for five minutes.

The highlight of the night for me was the final segment, a funny James Bond parody that does succeed in telling a story rather than focusing too much on poking fun at the many 007 films. Seeing Moe as a secret agent and Homer as the ruthless villain was really fresh, unlike anything the show has done previously.

As far as Treehouse of Horrors go, it falls somewhere in the middle, not the worst, but certainly not the best. Very enjoyable, Treehouse of Horror XXVII is a forgettable Halloween special, but fun while it lasts.

Lisa is forced to fight to the death against other Springfield children, an imaginary friend causes chaos across Springfield and Bart joins Moe on a secret mission.

Warning: Spoilers
It's hard to believe the Simpsons has lasted for so long. For me, the golden era is the first ten seasons, but admittedly there are some episodes beyond that which count as worth watching.

The first of the three segments seemed to be lacking an ending with its Hunger Games parody. The one with Lisa's imaginary friend running amok had some teeth to it for sure, and was classic Simpsons in a way. The third segment about the James Bond parody could have been a contender and the homage to James Bond was quite funny at times.

Still, one must wonder how long The Simpsons can go and on and on and maintain its lustre.

I'm very confused

And not a good type of confused. The first segment felt like it was 'missing something' and it just did not feel right whatsoever. I'm not sure what it is but it's making me a bit too confused so yeah. Why would they do this to me? Why would they not have that thing that's missing in the first segment?

My favorite episode

Warning: Spoilers
Let me start off by saying that I am new to the Simpsons but I really enjoy it and have seen a lot of episodes. I think it's a great show but definitely not for young kids. Now as I watched this episode tonight I will admit some of the segments (ahem two) were semi disturbing but none of it was scary as it was portrayed in a comical tone.

The first segment was a hunger games parody and here's the highlights: Homer is the alcoholic trainer and his name is homidge Ralph does before it even starts (they are saying "do not step off the pedestals before-" and Ralph is like "before what?" Then u hear him like weee and he flys across the screen and we hear the gunshot and his name is on the screen) Homer jumps on two kids eliminating them and the kids were helping Lisa

Segment 2 is where Lisa's imaginary friend starts killing her real friends highlights: Pretty much the whole segment as this was by far the funniest one but I'll say my favorite part Lisa got sent to jail after being accused of her imaginary friends latest murder and we see chief wiggum (Ralph's dad) having a knife next to his throat by a criminal Chief Wiggum: (on the phone) hey dear tell ralphy that I won't be home for dinner, tell Ralphy that dinner is the meal at the end of the day, Tell Ralphy that the end of the day is when the sun goes down, tell Ralphy that- the criminal stabs him Chief Wiggum: (going down after being stabbed) thank u

Segment 3 where Bart becomes James Bond Highlights: Homer is the villain and his cat attacks him a bunch so ever time that the cat attacks him it's pretty funny During the fight sequence Ralph cuts someone's head off and it falls down and all of the people At the party start whacking it around Also it was funny when homer is in the chair and they were like "of course it was u remoh is homer spelled backwards" and homers like "it is, I mean that was intended"

Bad as usual

So the 600th episode of the Simpsons and they managed to screw it up too. Actually it doesn't really surprise me. So yeah it's your standard try hard Simpsons episode. Basically the first one is just Hunger Games done terribly. The second one is just dull, boring and predictable. The third one is just weird being a James Bond parody which is not suppose to be scary. Just a bore fest. Ironic how in the end the Simpsons made fun of bad shows when obviously they have been bad for years now. I have nothing else to say I mean what do we expect from the Simpsons, nowadays?

Another dull unoriginal Halloween episode

What a disappointing 600th episode. Some of the early Treehouse Of Horrors are my favourite Simpsons episodes ever. How far the greats have fallen. Should have ended 300 episodes ago.

Very ironic

Ending the show making fun of other shows when the Simpson's has been terrible for years.

How can people give this TOH a 10.0 unless the first ten TOH's somehow get 20.0?

Not one laugh in three segments but some more useless gore.

Please end this series. Please put the shark out of its misery.
