- A loving mother, trapped in a violent relationship must overcome her fears to provide a better future for her and her young son, whose courage and strength inspires her to do for them what he can not.
- A school bus drops off children at a stop. Most of the children are collected by their parents but Lucas (Austin Lupher) is not among them. Lucas walks home alone going through the park and up a street. He checks the mailbox for mail and pulls in the garage can from the front of the driveway. He enters the house through the empty garage. Lucas's mother Christine (Ali Francis) calls on the phone. She is a nurse. She questions Lucas whether he has done his chores. Lucas proudly declares he has completed them. When Christine asks about Lucas's homework, Lucas reminds her it its Friday. Christine gives her son permission to play video games. Joe (Will Beckingham), Lucas's step-father arrives home. He enters Lucas's bedroom quite upset that Lucas failed to close the garage door. Joe claims his tools might have been stolen. Lucas admits he has been told to shut the garage door on multiple occasions. Joe says he will need to show Lucas how to shut a door and slams his bedroom door shut. That night Lucas hears his mother and Joe argue about how Joe disciplines her son. He hears the sound of an audible smack. Lucas pretends to be asleep when his mom leaves him a comic book and kisses him goodnight. One night, Joe is playing cards with his biker friends. Christine chastises Joe for being a sore loser. Joe smacks Christine to the ground and reminds Christine that she and her son are nowhere without him. A superhero (Jeremiah Demoss) in a mask appears to make him stop. The superhero is Lucas. It happens again in the kitchen when Joe is hitting his wife. Joe forces Lucas to remove the mask. He bullies him that he is unable to help his mother and demands Lucas turn around and go to bed. Joe calls the boy a "pussy". In Lucas dream, the superhero reappears and takes the name-calling for Lucas. The punches of Joe's friends bounce off of him. The masked superhero beats all of Joe's friends senseless including throwing one into a car windshield. The hero grabs Joe by the neck and pushes him aside. The hero pick sup his mother and cradles her in his arms. Christine finds Lucas with his mask on asleep in his bed. She finds "The Hero of Brooketown" comic book which captures the scene of the hero with a woman in his arms on the cover. Christine is inspired by Lucas's bravery. She puts on the mask and gear and carries Lucas out of the house.
