The genesis of this film came when Frank H. Woodward saw Jack Bennett wearing a mustache for an unrelated film role and commented that he resembled a young Robert Shaw. Bennett's response was to immediately launch into Quint quotes from Jaws (1975). Later, when the JAWS Blu-ray was released, Bennett was re-watching the Indianapolis speech and paused it to text Woodward that "There's no way this is the first time he's told this story." Their subsequent riffing on the idea of Quint workshopping his speech led to this short film.
The dialogue was largely improvised by actor/co-writer/co-director Jack Bennett while co-writer/co-director Frank H. Woodward made suggestions and threw out lines from behind the camera.
Every time there was a new camera setup on Jack Bennett as Quint, for every first take he would perform the Indianapolis speech from Jaws (1975) verbatim in order to get into character. Before production wrapped he had recited the speech in its entirety four times.
