Season review

I feel this season had some funny moments but was way too drawn out. It was difficult to watch in marathon form. In my opinion this season would be a pretty good two/ three parter. I prefer the following two seasons because they are less serialized.... Overall this season was around a 6-7 out of 10.... But still pretty watchable...

Underrated season
FlorianLaur25 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I admit, when I first saw season 19 and 20, I thought it was different and less funny. I didn't understand that just like the show gets older, so do I. Now I am 34(almost 35) and I love that the show grows up and asks us to do so with them. It doesn't mean we can't enjoy older seasons, but even back then, there was a lot of subtle stuff I never noticed until recently (like Randy's crap episode basically being a mockery for a show like Southpark winning a prize).

Season 20 for me now is always a highlight. It is for one interesting to see Gerald instead of Randy as a main character. And at the same time, I really enjoy Butters going MGTOW, Cartman showing another side to himself (although of course he wouldn't be himself if he didn't return to selfish form) and them parodising both political parties and their leadership.

I read that many people didn't like the Eric and Heidi storyline, but I never understood why. To me, I actually would welcome if the boys would have a relationship for some time or some seasons. It would add to their characters. And I admit, I like that soap opera feeling it gives us. Isn't it kind of sweet to see even an a-hole like Eric to be happy for a change? Or Butters getting a slow Cosby with his Canadian girlfriend last year? Isn't it all something we can all relate to?

Sadly, the show as of now (2020) went the wrong way in my eyes, being far too much Randy. I would have enjoyed more seasons in a season-long arch. It didn't hurt the videogames and it didn't hurt the show.

Perfect last part
ericstevenson8 December 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Well people don't seem to agree with me, but I personally loved this episode. We get to see a lot of stuff being wrapped up. Now, this isn't even the finale of the season, but there's definitely a feeling of closure here. I admit that I wish the member berries would appear more. They only appear briefly and don't have dialogue. It was weird how it was talking about giving everyone a second chance. Then again, it was all obviously a response to Donald Trump being elected President. I did miss Caitlyn Jenner in this.

Once again, I am intimidated by Kyle's mom. As the episode ends, she never does find out it was Gerald who caused all the problems. Kyle and Ike are shown mad at this. Was that the best thing to do? Gerald really did save the day at the end, more or less. I love when he's confronting the leader of Denmark at the end. He basically says that people will say mean things for the sake of satire, but there is one difference between him and the leader. He actually says funny stuff. I...do not look forward to a Trump administration, but we'll survive. ****

The season that went over Americans' heads
evimchine8 December 2016
This is the finale of by far the best season South Park ever had.

But the problem is that plot lines of this complexity and a distance that far between connections, just is too much for the mostly American audience.

Which leads to hilarious complaints, like plot parts being forgotten, when it is made very very clear that those parts are still to come. And generally the "It was a mess" comments. A typical response when people do not only fail to understand something, but way beyond that, even fail to realize that they are failing. (A result of the Dunning-Kruger effect.)

Nonetheless, this episode linked most of the lines together in a – typical for South Park – right-on-the-razor's-edge deep analysis of the problem and a view on it, that allows us to see everything with humor. Exactly what comedy is supposed to do. … and gave us a cliffhanger, to make clear even to the thickest minds, that the other plot lines were grown as a basis for the next season. (A good decision.)

In the right audience, this would have had the chance, to actually make the world a little better.

But now my only concern is, that they might succumb to the power of the – unfortunately still their main audience – loud dumb. The title of this episode already smells like it. Which ultimately, they have no choice but to do; unless they start focusing on other countries as their target audience.

So it leaves me only to conclude: THANKS, PROFIT-DRIVEN DUMBING DOWN and INTELLECTUAL CRAB MENTALITY. You ruined a great thing — once again.

I Have Lost Hope For South Park
adog200126 December 2016
Warning: Spoilers
MAY INVOLVE SPOILERS!

For me as a long time South Park fan, I am so happy this is the final episode of this crap season. So last two seasons were really disappointing with crappy jokes. Here this season started off good, but after the Trump case, the season got worse because the writers expected Clinton to win, which I completely understand, but still that doesn't make the case better. I do not recommend this season nor Season 18 or Season 19. If you want to watch good South Park seasons, watch Season 1 to probably 16, not the last three pieces of garbage. Honestly I lost hope for this show, and I am only going to watch the first sixteen seasons for now on. Honestly, Season 14 and Season 15 of Family Guy, another one of my favorite shows, were way better than the other three seasons I mentioned. I'm moving on to that show for now on.

A happy ending that I didn't want
nimfacancer26 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Season 6 is not funny but that's not a problem. The problem is that the stories start high and with good potentials but eventually they just try to end up and clean the mess and give us a happy ending, and where everything returns to normality. The trolls should have paid for what they've done, Gerald doesn't deserve to get rid of all his problems this easily. I feel so betrayed by the way it has end.
