The Wages of Fear is a French film directed by Julien Leclercq starring Franck Gastambide and Ana Girardot.
“The Wages of Fear” is a film based on Georges Arnaud’s novel, which, as you may already know, had a previous adaptation in 1953, directed by H.G. Clouzot. This has become a classic of French cinema and one of the best thrillers in film history.
In these current times, Julien Leclercq dares to create a new version of this story, modernizing it entirely and trying to maintain the character tension in this updated plot, although we’re not fully sure if it’s for the better.
It’s always a risk to compare yourself to a classic, but Julien Leclercq has the courage to try it.
Plot
To save a village during an oil extraction, four people must escort a convoy loaded with nitroglycerin in a desolate place, surrounded by armed gangs.

Getting In Front Of The Competition
The International Olympic Committee said on Thursday that Swiss-based, Chinese-owned Infront Sports & Media would handle broadcast right sales in much of Asia for the next series of Summer and Winter games.
The deal covers 22 territories including Afghanistan, Brunei, Cambodia, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Singapore, Tajikistan, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Vietnam – but not China, Japan or South Korea, and runs 2026-2032. That means it will cover the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics and the Los Angeles 2028 and Brisbane 2032 Summer games. The 2030 Winter Olympics, which have yet to be allocated a host, and all Youth Olympic Games during this period will also be covered.
Infront, which is headed by Philippe Blatter and has been owned by China’s Dalian Wanda since 2015, replaces the Japanese advertising and marketing giant Dentsu, which had handled the rights...

After breaking ground in France, Franck Gastambide’s hit Canal Plus show “All the Way Up” (“Validé”), a comedy drama series unfolding on France’s vibrant rap scene, is set to roll out around the world. Canneseries opened Friday with season two of the show.
Studiocanal has sold the edgy title to WarnerMedia Latin America, exclusively for HBO Max, and to Radio-Canada.
HBO Max, which recently launched in 39 territories in Latin America and the Caribbean, will premiere season one of the half-hour series. Radio-Canada’s Ott platform Ici Tou.TV Extra has acquired both the first and second seasons.
The show marked the TV debut of Gastambide, one of France’s most successful directors who previously delivered top-grossing local comedies such as “Porn in the Hood” (“Les Kaira”), “Pattaya” and the latest instalment of the action franchise “Taxi 5.” And like everything Gastambide is doing, the series has gone viral,...

There are, from time to time, moments of weird synchronicity in the international film world, times when the film gods appear to think that doing something odd once just isn't sufficient and so they lay it down a few times. And apparently today is one of those days with a pair of teasers for Thai set genre-hybrid comedies revolving around little people popping up, only one of which is actually Thai.Up first is French action comedy Pattaya, a Franck Gastambide directed effort that appears to revolve around an ex con turned martial arts master to little people. Given the generally broad nature of French comedy there will almost certainly be something in here to offend everyone though the production values look quite strong.Next? That would...

Exclusive: Other new titles on slate include Pattaya and Critics’ Week screener Learn by Heart.
Gaumont has launched sales on Pascal Chaumeil’s upcoming Odd Job (Un Petit Boulot), achieving a first early deal to Pathé Switzerland on the eve of the Cannes market.
The production unites Chaumeil with Romain Duris, co-star of his 2010 hit Heartbreaker, as a down-on-his-luck unemployed factory worker who takes on a job as a hitman.
The film is based on Iain Levison’s novel Since the Lay-Offs adapted to the big screen by actor Michel Blanc who also appears in the film.
Described as a black comedy, combining the absurdity of the Coen Brothers and the tenderness of Ken Loach’s social comedies, the film is currently shooting in Mallorca.
