Wolves not far - actually, they're pretty damn close!
LiamCullen619 October 2015
Warning: Spoilers
This episode succeeded in maintaining the energy and high action of the season premiere. It was non-stop entertainment for the entire 45 minutes.

The Wolves came rushing into Alexandria whilst Rick and most of the other badasses were out of the picture and quickly reduced the town to ruin: blood spilled in the streets, severed corpses strewn across the grass, buildings burning - Alexandria has fallen.

The horror I felt when Carol was looking through the window and she saw someone get brutally slaughtered with a machete was enough to make my skin crawl. I couldn't believe that they were so easily ambushed. This just goes to show how vulnerable Alexandria really is.

Carol was absolutely fantastic in this episode. Now that I think about it, when isn't she?

Once again we're confronted with Morgan's bizarre defence tactics. Although that being said he's survived this long using his wooden stick so I'm sure he'll continue to do so.

I especially liked when Carol was reflecting on what she'd done - all the blood she'd spilled - she saw the A for Alexandria stamp beside her, and she was sitting with the W for Wolves stamp of blood on her forehead. Both letters are seemingly similar (in red) but are made with totally different substances (ink versus blood): this highlights the fact that Carol is not an Alexandrian. She may appear to be one, but she is entirely different upon close inspection.

Another nice addition: after Carl had come back inside the house and the egg timer went off, he casually strolled over to the oven and took out whatever Carol was cooking - a casserole? This just goes to show how numb our survivors are to the harshness of the apocalyptic world. Even despite the fact that Carl has just murdered somebody, he is able to calmly take food out of the oven as if they're living in paradise! Carl's behaviour totally juxtaposed with Deanna's reaction to the ambush further underlines their incongruity.

But where did the Wolves go? Why did they attack? Why does Morgan insist on showing such savages mercy? How is Deanna going to assert herself as a leader when she hid during the entire ambush? How will Rick and the other survivors react upon their return? What about the thousands of walkers roaming around headed straight for home?!

If TWD keeps up the pace like this for the rest of the season then we're set to have the best season yet!

Just Survive Somehow
claudio_carvalho19 October 2015
While Rick, Daryl, Tara and Abraham herd the walkers through the road to a distant point far from Alexandria, life goes on in the community. Out of the blue they are attacked by The Wolves that slaughter great part of the residents. Carol, Maggie, Carl and the survivors try to defend the community while Morgan returns and stops the truck horn that is attracting the walkers from blowing. Will they be capable to protect the compound and the Alexandrians from the scavengers that got inside the wall?

"JSS" is a gore episode of The Walking Dead directed by Jennifer Chambers Lynch, David Lynch's daughter and director of "Boxing Helena". "Surveillance" and "Chained" among others. Morgan that does not want to kill people despite they are killing their acquaintances is kind of incoherent in an attack of savages that lost their humanity a long time ago. Now the Alexandrians have learned the importance of knowing how to defend themselves from the outside world, walkers or psychos. My vote is nine.

Title (Brazil): "JSS"

Note: On 22 April 2016, I saw this show again.

10 out of 10 is an understatement. That was awesome! Comic fans rejoice - If you haven't read the comics, you ain't seen nothing yet!
serbian_00718 October 2015
This was one of the greatest TV episodes of any TV show that I have ever seen in my entire life - definitely on my top 20 list of BEST TV EPISODES OF ALL TIME.

The episode was just flawlessly done and perfectly captured the antithesis between Pacifism (Morgan) and kill or be killed mentality (Carol) in a post-apocalyptic world. It's no wonder Carol is one of my favourite characters on the show. The Walking Dead has been such a treat since the beginning of season 5. If the writing continues in this direction, this season may actually cement the Walking Dead as one of the greatest, if not "the greatest", TV show of all time.

If I could give the episode 20/10, I would; it was even better than the Season 5 opener with Terminus.

As a fan of the comics, even though I know where the story is heading in the general sense, I love how the show switches things around a bit so that I can't predict what will happen next. I won't spoil anything, but let's just say the show played around with the order of events a little bit - I always seem to like the changes, however, as well as the slight additions to the story. For example, the Wolves actually aren't characters in the comics, and neither is Terminus (In the comics the Terminus group are actually called 'the Hunters', a marauding group of cannibals that Rick disposes of very quickly- so I think the show handled the "hunters" much better than the comics, and dare I say, I think the show's rendition of the Wolves equals or even surpasses some of Robert Kirkman's best writing in the comics regarding certain other groups - for those who haven't read the comics, you'll see soon enough - no spoilers). Those are just some examples to prove how the show is sometimes better than the actual source material, although that isn't always the case if I'm picky. Generally though, I prefer the show to the comics because for one, live action story telling is much more effective for ingratiating us with the characters, and secondly, the actors are just phenomenal.

With that said, I'm a little worried for the show's future now that it's slowly catching up to the source material; season 6 will come very close to the last comic book issues published this year, and as a fan I have some concerns. For instance, I wonder if the writing will be as good in season 7 and 8 (if the show goes that far) once the writers no longer have comic book source material to draw upon. I really hope it will; I mean, the show has done a great job adding to the story already, so I have faith that they'll come up with something great if need be. Regardless, I hope Robert Kirkman gets off his arse and starts writing more of those damn comics. The success of the show depends upon him - we all saw what happens when you don't have great source material for a zombie show - you end up with Fear the Walking Dead, which any real zombie fan must admit is a complete crap shoot - not that it can't get better, but that it certainly didn't get off to a good start.

Folks, THIS was the REAL Walking Dead tonight, and, if things continue as they are in season 6, 7, and 8, the Walking Dead will certainly become top on my list for greatest TV series of all time (that's right, even above Breaking Bad!). Enough said.

JSS, Just Simply Superb!
ananyathecutedevil19 October 2015
Warning: Spoilers
First episode where the main hero, Rick is not in focus. While Rick, Daryl and their group is out trying make "home" more safe, a bunch of psychos attack Alexandria. Rating this episode 11/10 would also not give it justice as it was a full spell bounding episode, I mean 45 minutes flew by and the episode ended. JSS surely is one of the best TV show premiered till date. Carol proves herself to be a total bad ass again as, her being one of my favorite character has shown most promising development from the series' starting. Morgan is this time forced to kill the member of the group which attacked Alexandria.

This episode mainly focuses on how the "group" has played a vital role in protecting Alexandria's people who were naive and did not know how to face the real threat in the real world. For the people who thought that TWD is repetitive and will get boring in the 6th season, you have been proved wrong. As AMC's BrBa, this show also ascends to acquire a dark theme as the story grows.

Walking Dead s06e02 brings the first story About the Wolfs
mdrameez28-249-93521818 October 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Spoiler Alert

As we know from the season premier ending when Rick and the group get the horde of walkers away from safe zone they hear a big truck noise which leads the horde of walkers straight to safe zone. This episode we will see how the sound occurs who cause it and why. In the start of the episode for 4-5 min we see a flashback about Katelyn Nacon how she got into the safe zone and then the wolfs kill a lot of people from the safe zone they are scavengers they don't have guns they use knives,Axe,etc but we don't see rick and the group as they are busy with the walkers but this episode we will see carol go Rambo mode she is a real awesome in this episode, father Gabriel try to redeem himself and lot of blood and chaos we dono what happened to the walkers we see only the wolfs attacking.

Overall this episode was good the show didn't disappoint me i was craving for more but that's all this week Morgan still kills no one from the wolfs he hurts them but carol she kills a lot and Ron is still a crazy teenager and we see Jessie kill a wolfs group women with a scissors and etc..... a lot of crazy sh*t happens so next episode we will see what happened at the other side of the safe zone how rick and the group deals with them.

Just survive somehow
TheLittleSongbird13 June 2019
'The Walking Dead' was brilliant in its prime. Consider its prime Seasons 1-5, even if Season 5 has not quite been as consistent. As has been said frequently, and it is worth reiterating because "feeling like a completely different show" declines leaves me feeling very annoyed and Seasons 7 and 8 (have yet to watch Season 9 until reviewing all the previous episodes) of 'The Walking Dead' is one of the biggest declines for any show.

Season 6 was inconsistent but boasted a lot of fantastic elements that made it more than watchable. Also thought it started off brilliantly, absolutely loved the previous episode "First Time Again" and love "JSS" just as much (perhaps even more), as one can gather those two are among the sixth season's best and among the latter seasons' best too. Like "First Time Again", "JSS" has a lot going on, is taut, is uncompromisingly tense, emotional and is exceptionally well made (actually stands out on that front), like the best of 'The Walking Dead'. Can totally see why it was critically acclaimed, even if it is more mixed here, and it deserves it in my opinion.

"JSS", as always with 'The Walking Dead' is superb in the production values. Not as unique as the previous episode's, The gritty and audacious production design still remains, photography worthy of a film, suitably frightening make-up and visuals that don't look amateurish in any way and like they were made with heart and effort. The music is haunting and affecting, without being intrusive. The direction is some of the best of the whole of 'The Walking Dead' up to this point, both visually and providing the right amount and kind of drama.

What really stands out here is some of the most tense and terrifying storytelling of Season 6, of the latter seasons and in the whole of 'The Walking Dead', in the assault on Alexandria. So unexpected and with plenty of intensity, the Wolves also genuinely frightening. Enid's backstory is intriguing too and the action is edge of your seat worthy in how thrilling it is.

Loved the contrasting views of particularly Carol and Morgan, and Melissa McBride and Lennie James' powerful performances help enormously. The writing is as taut as can be and the dialogue-driven scenes didn't come over as too talky to me. The story is always compelling, Denise's dilemma is not as strongly done as the rest of the story elements but showed a lot of promise. The character interaction is tense and emotional.

In conclusion, superb episode and indicative of a very promising start to Season 6. 10/10

Savage and Intense Close Combat
jr-565-2636620 October 2015
Warning: Spoilers
This was by far one of the best episodes if not the best of the series. The savagery of the attack on Alexandria and the intensity of the Alexandrians defending themselves made me feel like I hadn't felt since I was in combat 25 years ago. Though I like watching the Talking Dead afterwards, I had to turn off the TV and calm down a bit. Then I turned it back on to watch the encore to see it again!

The "Wolves" thought taking down Alexandria would be like slaughtering sheep. But as Rick stated so eloquently in Season 5, the surviving Wolves probably felt pretty stupid when they found they messed with the wrong people. They should have figured that out when Spencer (Austin Nichols) stopped them at the beginning from breaching the walls by riddling the cab of the semi with automatic weapons fire.

Carol (Melissa McBride) shines in this episode as never before. Just like in the days after the prison and at Terminus, she has shown herself to be a stalwart, resourceful and dependable woman who will stop at nothing to survive and defend those she loves. One of the show's pleasures is to see how she has evolved from a insecure, battered woman to a Ms. Rambo.

It was also a nice touch how Carol disguised herself in the "burqa of death" to fool and gun down the Wolves. Equally compelling roles were by Morgan (Lenny James), Aaron (Ross Marquand) and Eugene (Josh McDermitt).

The episode demonstrated what people will do when confronted with death or worse. A perfect example was homemaker Jessie (Alexandra Breckenridge) who fought back desperately to protect her children by ruthlessly killing her attacker with a pair of sewing scissors.

This is a rare episode that did not feature the core characters such as Rick, Daryl or Glen. This gave the secondary characters a chance to shine. I believe this episode will go down in TV history as one of the most action packed ever produced.

A lot of action and great character moments
nomis942 November 2015
Warning: Spoilers
"JSS" is full of action and one of the most brutal episodes ever. However, there are really nice character moments. I loved how the writers introduced the new doctor Denise. She is very likable and I can totally relate to her situation. To be thrown into such a highly responsible job while you actually have no idea is not easy and I love the way how she struggles with it. It's very human and congenial. The scenes with Tara, Eugene and Denise are well-written and so authentic. I hope we see more of Denise in the next episodes, this second episode introduced her character in a way I really enjoyed.

The action scenes in Alexandria are top-notch and really suspenseful. Carol is once again a badass and I also do like Morgan as a moral person. I'm thrilled for season six.

Thrilling, bloody action!
and_mikkelsen7 February 2024
This episode once again proves how anything can happen in this show! It starts of as a usual episode, but suddenly develops into an intense battle of survival!

This was honestly a very well made with incredible action, strengthed by great camera work, direction and set-pieces!

This felt like a slasher movie, as people with Axel, machetes, knives and bats, went on a rampage! It was bloody and gory, with blood dominating most scenes!

Humans are the greatest threat, and the wolves proved that! Sometimes you fight.. or you die, cause you camt reason with anyone!

I was intrigued by Morgans character, who never wanted to kill anyone, even in lifethreatening situations!

This episode kept up the great start to season 6 with even more action and intensity!

Strong but vicious episode with Carol on top form
snoozejonc13 January 2022
Whilst half the town are out shifting the zombies out of the quarry we see what is happening in Alexandria.

This is another brutal, downbeat episode, but it has some strong character moments and is very compelling.

It is hard to say that I enjoyed it, as it contains so much gruesome people on people violence, but it is done with strong action suspense that it keeps you on edge.

Carol has another chance to shine and she is depicted as back in the zone of heroism that she entered in 'No Sanctuary'. Melissa McBride gives another tremendous portrayal of an action-queen up there with Ellen Ripley.

Morgan is both cool as a staff-wielding warrior and frustrating with his 'all life is precious attitude' in the midst of such chaos. It makes me wonder if his presence will be a replacement for the ever lasting humanity that was Tyreese. If so I hope they do not repeat the same sort of arc. After 5 seasons, conflicts between idealism and pragmatism (I feel after 5 seasons) feel a bit repetitive. However, it is a bit early to judge and Lennie James does a great job in the role.

I won't say anything further about the plot as I have been skirting the edge of spoilers so far. What I would like to see in the next few episodes is some sort of background on the primary antagonists shown in this episode.

All performances and production values were great as ever.

I loved the Eugene-Tara-Denise side-plot!
marianne-mag-joseph29 November 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Wow, this episode is such a blast! There is so much going on. But I enjoyed the scenes with Tara, Denise and Eugene most. Denise has been introduced in a very decent way and I liked her immediately. She struggles with herself and her self-confidence is about to crumble. Tara and Eugene, however, encourage her and I think she will be an exceptional part of the community. Her struggles are human and I can totally relate to her situation. We all have so many responsibilities in our lives and they don't make us happy all the time. It's good that we have people around us who encourage us. Friends, family, colleagues. The writing of this episode is really good, I enjoyed it throughout!

Running on empty
serpent_coil19 October 2015
Looking at the latest episode I realized how strong the force of habit is. It's been far too long since I actually thought this show was going somewhere but still I tag along hoping for something. Sure, some episodes, like this one, are quite good and engages you for a little while the main plot is idling along. The problem is that every exciting episodes are re-hash of previous plot turns and by now it's getting kind of stale.

Rick and co. find a haven that has to be defended against zombies and/or other living humans. Rick has mental breakdown, what is good or evil in a world where survival is the only law blah blah blah… the gang eventually has to abandon their safe space and once again prowl the world beyond. Sound familiar?

Like I said, it's not that the episodes themselves are always bad, it's that there is no sense of overarching plot development at all and every eventual hint that the plot is actually going somewhere turns out to be a dead end. So we go back to the same old dull road again. The minuscule character-development isn't enough to carry this show. Rick has painstakingly slowly been loosing his sense of humanity for at least five damn seasons now so that hardly counts.

Anyway, I'll probably keep watching like the idiot I am since I'm way too invested in the show to back out now. Maybe next season will be better… is what I have been thinking for too long. I never learn.

I am amazed how they care details like this. It is art.
umutakbulut-3504527 March 2023
Has anyone else noticed that Maggie acts and talks like his father with his mimics and everything in the first scene of her? It is a detail that most of the directors on Netflix do not even care about. Another example is when Morgan asks for the peanut bar that Michonne ate, and Carl gets mad at her because she stole someone's food far back in the past. Remembering the moment felt so precious to me, if it was even my memory with someone, and it melted my heart. The other thing was when Glenn knew there were spare batteries in the RV and Abraham asked how he knew that Glenn smiled. It referenced the scenes in which Dale teaches Glenn about RVs, and it was also worth noticing. I am amazed at how much they care about this kind of detail.

Warning: Spoilers
One of the most overrated episodes of the show. The first 5 minutes of this episode shows Enid's backstory. How did Enid's parents die. I'm pretty sure they were in the car. I searched up "what happens if you eat a raw terrapin turtle" and this was googles response, "Common initial symptoms occur within a few days of eating the turtle meat and include itching and pain in the mouth and throat, vomiting, and abdominal pain. Mouth and tongue ulcerations may also be present, and some individuals may develop neurologic disturbances such as confusion, seizures, or coma." I'm not sure any of that happened. After the intro until 15:05, this show felt like a reality t.v show. That's why Alexandria, existing, was such a stupid decision. This episode is proof that if something has action in it people will turn off their brains and immediately think it's good. I thought the wolves would be at least, semi decent, but no. They are a bunch of overweight drunk dad type looking people. They just charged Alexandria and started randomly killing people. Real cool villains. This episode is just a lot of killing. At the end of the episode, Morgan captures the leader, Owen.

Now for the second half of the review, that is totally separate and isn't part of the review. I'm talking about LiamCullen6 who rated this a 10. He should be the first review that pops up titled "Wolves not far - actually, they're pretty damn close!". He rated it a 10 but I he's proof that everybody who rated this high turned their brain off because this 10, is coming from a person who rated The Rise of Skywalker and The Last Jedi an 8!. What the ****!. But the biggest shocker is how he rated Last Day On Earth (6x16) a 1 because he had to wait until October to see TDWCWYWB even though he rated Spiderman: Across The S*** verse a 9 and that ended on a big cliffhanger that we won't be able to see for a long time. But unlike Spiderman, Last Day On Earth is actually good even with the cliffhanger. These are the type of TWD fans which is the reason terrible episodes like these are rated high.

"JSS" is a standout episode that focuses on the residents of Alexandria as they face a deadly attack from the Wolves
fernandoschiavi15 March 2024
As Carol goes about a daily routine, the Wolves ambush the community. Carol immediately switches to survival mode. She disguises herself as a Wolf, while killing any intruder she comes across. Morgan is shocked and disgusted by her actions; he only beats down the trespassers, sparing their lives. Morgan manages to scare off the remaining Wolves, but one takes a gun before leaving. Morgan encounters their leader Owen, whom he met prior, in a nearby house. He brutally strikes the man with his staff, possibly killing him.

Enid, feeling the community is unsafe, decides to leave. As she tells Carl goodbye, she is forced to barricade in his house. After the chaos settles, Carl finds a farewell note from Enid: "Just Survive Somehow", it reads.

"JSS" is a standout episode that focuses on the residents of Alexandria as they face a deadly attack from the Wolves, a group of ruthless survivors. The episode is notable for its intense and brutal action sequences, as the residents must fight for their lives against the heavily armed attackers. One of the most memorable scenes in the episode is when Carol, disguised as one of the Wolves, single-handedly takes out several attackers using stealth and cunning.

The episode also explores themes of survival and community, as the residents must come together to defend their home against the external threat. Additionally, the episode delves into the idea of identity and morality, as Carol struggles with the consequences of her actions and the toll it takes on her conscience. Overall, "JSS" is a gripping episode that highlights the characters' resilience and their willingness to do whatever it takes to protect their home and each other.

Great episode with tons of action.
teoface1 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
To is episode was super fun to watch and I love the action throughout the entire episode but Ron was a jerk the entire episode and has no survival skills necessary to survive the apocalypse so if Alexandria goes down so will he, which it kind of started to go down as the people was attacking the group. But Morgan needs to understand that killing is important during the apocalypse and he eventually does realize and kills someone at the end of the episode. Carol was great in this episode she was catching so many bodies and she even pretended to be one of the intruders and managed to trick them. Sadly Rick isn't in this episode.

writers got used to being lazy
seshasai-tris20 October 2015
I don't understand how this episode got a rating > 9. Just because the episode had action and a few zombie and human kills, it does not deserve a 9. The lazy writing is clearly a factor for the downfall in quality of the episode.

Stay with me, let me explain how - We have seen episode 1 of this season that already happened in the future and it is slightly frustrating to see the events that occurred in the past of this show's time line. Why would a typical show watcher watch the past for an hour and be okay with it.

IF you have seen this episode already, you'd agree with me that episode 1 and episode 2 could have been clubbed together into a beautiful parallel screenplay ( a classic movie making style that parallel-ly shows the events happening at two locations). Thus, the tension would have been high too, but NO; The screen writers just got too lazy to develop and relied on Nolan's Memento Screen play style for episode 1 and a new screenplay altogether for this episode which does not gel with events happened in episode 1.

I know I'd get a lot of down-votes from the fan-boys, but just take a moment and think about the severe quality dip in the show. (Just watch season 1 and season 2 of this TV series and also think why this TV show is kicked off the top 100 TV shows)

worst TWD episode in recent memory
hhherc19 October 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I cannot believe some people are rating this episode a 9 or 10/10. this was one of the worst TWD episodes I've ever seen. it seemed like the production value, acting, story telling, scene by scene, etc... was ALL way worse than what is typical for a typical walking dead episode. before the episode even ended, I told my girlfriend that I hated it and I didn't know what was going on, but it was off and I didn't like it. I feared for my favorite series.

I ended up looking up the director, I knew it was someone new or something different/worse. Turns out I was right. The director for this episode is a woman named Jennifer Chambers Lynch, and she has directed one other episode in the series. Anyways I was spot on with what was up. Just a bad director. The scenes didn't flow well together, there was ZERO build up/intensity. Overall the episode felt as if they just stopped caring about the show. Like a cash grab. Like Sinister 2. As if someone just took over a popular brand/name and was going to milk it for all it's worth, putting no money or effort into it, just getting what they can off of the name.

Here's some concrete things that I remember. So one major issue is that almost all the killing was done in the cheesiest low budget way(not typical for TWD). every stab missed by a mile. the staff swings missed by 2 miles. Also there was no blood from the hits. It was very fake and cheesy looking. Like a PG movie where people get stabbed and no blood gushes out and there's no damage shown, only to later show the body covered in blood. Typically in an episode of TWD, it actually looks like the zombies/people are hit, whether by a bullet or knife or blunt object. and right on time with the hit, you will see debris/blood/damage fly off the body. as would happen in real life. None of this, oh I stabbed the hell out of this woman(but clearly missed) and no blood or damage is shown. cue to 5 seconds later, Carol is holding her friend in what looks like 10 gallons of blood and guts. So it is completely inconsistent.

This screams to people like me, who notice every detail... it screams FAKE FAKE FAKE!! look at the missed hit, no blood, cheesy fall down, bad acting, etc. It takes you out of the experience. It is bad directing, bad production, bad special effects. None of that is typical in the walking dead. And speaking of the acting, the "doctor" in this episode was horrible, just flat out terrible. As was a lot of the acting in this episode. The acting was generally worse. Perhaps the director didn't know how to get the actors to do what she wanted. Perhaps she was unclear. Perhaps she just chose bad people, and rushed things or wasn't prepared... who knows.

All I can say is that now I will REALLY appreciate when the real directors get back to work on the show, and do it right again. Thank god this "Jennifer" director isn't on any future shows. Please keep it that way. The only reason people are rating the episode highly, is due to the action. The show has been absent for what feels like forever, and the first episode back didn't have much action. So this one came in with a lot of killing, naturally it's like an orgasm for lots of us. Just been building up for months, and finally the release.

The "wolves" also were EXTREMELY generic. There was so much more that could have been done with them. Instead, it was just a bunch of what seemed like first time extras, with 0 physical effort or ability going in there doing whatever. Just running around like chickens with their heads cut off, stabbing nobodies. Another funny thing, there was a zoom in about half ways through the episode, where one of the wolves was supposed to be stabbing a dead body. But it was clear as day that he was stabbing about 2 feet away from the corpse... again cheesy as hell. Obviously Jennifer Chambers Lynch doesn't know anything about beautiful destruction, doesn't know how to realistically portrait violence or brutality, and doesn't know how to set up action scenes.

Again, please never use her again for anything higher up. Use the directors that know their stuff and can put out a consistent quality product that is on the level that TWD is on(see #1 show). Not some cheesy director that looks like they should be making 2/10 horror movies with their college buddies that goes straight to DVD.

Lost the Quality..
salman_sahir22 November 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I can't believe the ratings are 9/10. This was not the TWD's style. The acting are OK by characters but they are not being on one side against the common enemy. Everyone is making their own decisions and ridiculous decisions which are no good for the group. Morgan is 3rd pain-in-a** after Lizzie and Andrea. I miss Rick so much here.

The director just cashed the name of series but nothing did really to meet the needs.

Killings are look like fake in this episode. There is no sense for the group of wolves to come here and go to come again.?? May b in the next episode they'll show their point of origin. Just killings in the show with no graphical sense. Cheesy and fake. Throughout the episode there is no tension on their faces. Enid wants to go from there as if they are on picnic and she is bored. Ron is like a baby "No I won't talk to you, Carl :-(" Morgan was being 2nd priest like "Don't kill who kills you :-/" Spencer with sniper taking care of his mother :-@. Deanne is sitting in truck and listening all this.. Tara is an asset but taking care of surgery looks like an immature and poor directorship, doesn't know how to realistically portrait violence or brutality, and doesn't know how to set up action scenes.

In the end, Carol stole the show and Carl did his job good.. This episode is "just survived somehow" My ratings 6/10..

I'm done
ajd421 October 2015
I'm done with this show ... I'm not watching it anymore, I'm not recording it, done. I just don't think people would act like this in this situation. The writers might want to do a little study of human nature, maybe read some war literature or some accounts of disaster survival. People would band together against a common enemy, defeat that enemy and then worry about killing each other again. This is stupid, ridiculous. It is contrary to the basic tenets of human nature. This is just pissing me off. I'll go watch The Leftovers. At least the characters act in ways that make sense. This is total nonsense.

On top of that, the characters themselves make idiotic decisions. Their personal decisions make zero sense. Everything they do is the last way anyone with any sense would act. What a bunch of jackasses. The human race deserves to wink out if this is the best it can offer. But of course people wouldn't act is way. They would adapt, endure and move on. That is the history of the human race. That is how we conquered this planet.

Even the invaders, what is their angle? What is their payoff? THERE IS NONE. Ridiculous crap ...

moral dilemma
jryndon21 October 2015
It is an unfortunate thing. Episode two is the destruction. and how this invader knew when to poke is subject to scrutiny.

I believe there is a traitor in the midst. A traitor in the form of a little girl, who seem innocent, quiet but seems to be hiding something. Mysterious. Shady. So I'm betting she's the one. My suspection was even made more strong when that suspected person left the scene of the crime.

Now that's done. Another debate that would keep the discussion going is a subject of morality.

In this episode, we see two characters on different sides. An the invasion goes to action, it is left to the two to spoil the enemies plan. But them duo have opposite directives on going at it. One is to capture and so not kill, the other shows no mercy.

Are you on the latter cause I am. There are situations that you are able to do that, you know, capture them bad people doing bad things, cause there is an opportunity in it. But, there are times when you are not given the time at all. And so that scenario, like the one in episode two, was one where you'd either choose the life to the other, and it's not a dilemma at all, which you'd choose.

Here is another issue I noticed in this. The one that's philosophy is not to kill no matter what, one of the two that's doing the saving, is a difficult philosophy to follow. And if chosen to guide your whole life, then you'd subject your life to a series of headaches. You care for every life, but if you have to choose, a life for the other, and that other is going to kill that other. Which would you choose? Of course you can try the none lethal way, no matter how dangerous it is that every minute counts to save another life. To me this is flawed.

Downfall of a once great show
anna_staci21 October 2015
I have nothing to say really because this show no longer deserves the attention it once garnered. This show has become complacent and lazy. It is showing in the writing from last season into this season. S1-S4 had some very stellar and compelling episodes that showed how great this show could become. But after episode 5 of S5 it all went downhill. It became nothing more then showmanship for a certain sect of the overall viewer ship/audience. If Rick was in every episode and remained the sole focus of the show maybe it would still be on a path to greatness.

Kudos to all that are still watching.
