Card goof?
hlv-919629 September 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I was recently rewatching this episode and when Booth was having his second hot streak it seemed like the cards changed. He had a flush with the original cards, but when he flipped his cards over, there was a pair of 5s on the board and he only had a Queen high. Next hand he has a straight (with an 8,9) but I am pretty sure they goofed the previous hand.

Hysterical Pregnancy
mweratcliffe27 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
DesChanel had to have been at least 5 months pregnant at the time of filming the opening scene when she discovers that her swollen, obviously pregnant belly is not the result of eating too many peanut butter cookies! All you can do is laugh at her character's demand that she and Booth keep this secret from others at the Jeffersonian because her colleagues would have to be blind not to see she is carrying her second child. The viewing audience knew she was pregnant at least 3-4 episodes prior when the very lovely DesChanel started her obvious weight gain.

Moderately Interesting

I think the time has come for this show to retire. I enjoyed Booth and Bones immensely. For the first 5, 6 or even 7 years, the charisma alone of this pair of actors made the show. I expected this dynamically-different duo to fight crime every week. Their chemistry was unstoppable and the writing was always well done and crime-centric. The addition of Ryan O'Neal - that was such a brilliant move and the awesome cameos, most notably, Billy Gibbons were a lot of fun. Sadly, those surprises are all gone. And with the loss of Sweets, that needed element of likability - just walked out the door. The remaining support characters habitually and arrogantly bloviate their pet self-righteous social pontification minus any cerebral review. This is just turning into tedium maximus - I am afraid the bridges have all been burned and feel this show does not have much left. Once upon a time, we knew we were in for a crime drama - but now I am actually searching for one. Where did it go? Some weeks it's the token lab rat's turn to assume center stage. They open up and drag some silly 'poor me story about social injustice' in front of everyone, the whole gang get all morally outraged, and the tearful oratory becomes the topic of the show. If they can't get the social message out through their 'assistants', they will find another way. This is worse than church. Can you say sluggish? Obviously the writers don't think the show is sluggish. They never seem to miss an opportunity to preach about social issues...let me tell you...watching paint dry is more exciting. Even in this episode (one of the better ones in the past month or so) the show was just barely lackluster. The big thing in the story should have been that the team nailed a nasty, murdering gambler. But it wasn't. It was all about Booth overcoming his past struggles with gambling addiction. Ho hum - sounds pointless? It was. With a heavy heart I must say it is time to compound fracture "Bones" and respectfully put a - once good show - into a full-body cast and say 'bye-bye.

Oh No! Another Baby!

Obviously, our Emily was pregnant before they filmed this episode, so what else can they do? But we have had so much plot made tiresome by focus on reproduction. I suppose there will be a whole hour of a show about forensic anthropology having all the character goo gooing over the birth. Anyway, we have the murder of a man who was a big time gambler. Booth goes to gambler's anonymous. But his ego steps in and he insists on going undercover. The man in question won large amounts, yet there was no money with the body. So it had to be a player. Of course, our intrepid FBI guy throws out some negative possibilities at the conclusion.

Arlene Sanford is so terribly bad! Obviously she didn't think it could be necessary to create something somehow fitting into this series. She had no idea what she was working on.
