Writer Rosalind Leigh is given a job, to get the story of Olive Martin, an obese murderess who murdered and dismembered her mother and sister. Leigh reluctantly begins an investigation into The Sculptress.
As eerie as Silence of the Lambs, the story is macabre and dark. This first part is intense, gritty and harrowing, it's virtually a two hander, with the characters of Rosalind and Olive locking horns in intense conversation.
No wonder Quirke won awards for this, her character is as far removed from Birds of a Feather as you can imagine.
An intense start. 8/10
