Halo 3: ODST (2009) was added to the collection as DLC. People who played the collection between November 11th, 2014 and December 19th, 2014 received a code for a free copy of the remastered Halo 3: ODST as compensation for the Master Chief Collection's rocky launch.

New to Halo 2 (2004) with the anniversary edition, Blur Studios has recreated a cutscene found only in the Halo 2 Map Pack Disk. The cutscene showcases a separate story where a group of marines face Covenant forces on the beach where their Pelican crash-landed.
Due to some problematic online multiplayer issues at launch, in 343 Industries released exclusive new nameplates, and are due to release an extra map in Halo 2: Anniversary Multiplayer, and a remastered version of the Halo 3: ODST campaign to those who played the game from launch day 11/11 to 12/19 for free.
