This two hour plus documentary borrows the name of a 1970s feature film. It gives an insight into what really happened during the Cuban Missile Crisis, which was not what the world believed. Professor Quigley covered this in some depth in "Tragedy & Hope", but this documentary contains footage of the major players. Although both JFK and his brother Robert were assassinated in the 60s, and Krushchev died in 1971, among others the film makers speak to the Russian leader's son.
Krushchev's reputation should be a lot better than it is; he may have looked like a musclebound thug, but he did as much to reform the then Soviet Union as any man could have, and if the Americans weren't keen on having missiles planted in Cuba aimed at their heartland, the Soviets weren't exactly happy about American missiles aimed at Mother Russia from Turkey.
