Being........put to sleep if you watch this!
omendata7 May 2020
Ok, so you saw the funky looking cover then saw the venerable Lance Henriksen in the top title - Yeah it is marketing garbage at its worst!

Poor old Lance seems to just take any old crapulous movies these days to pay the bills - From Aliens to this tosh it is pretty sad when you see such accomplished and great actors in films like these but get it right; he is only in the movie for about 5 mins as with most of his movie cameos these days, yet they stick him in top billing - marketing eh!

As for the movie, it bears nothing in regards to the advertising picture - there is nothing but people chatting in a room (badly) throughout the entire movie; presumably as the budget was spent on all the pretty once Grade-A actors like Ben Browder and Robert Burke - how sad, I actually felt sorry for them having to wade through this quagmire of calamity, a miasma of putrid script writing, a tragedy of photographic ineptness, a cataclysm of Cgi...you get the drift!

Avoid this film at all costs it is one of the worst films I have seen this year, the type of film you can use as a soporific to summon sleep --- yawwwwwnnn!

NOT BEING KIND
buddymakesdo22 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Not even Ben Browder or Lance Hendrikson could save this drek. The dialogue was stilted, the storyline was hard to follow and none of the Local LEOs or the FibEYEs were written credibly. ¿ What was this 'being' ? ¿ Was it extraterrestrial, a daemonic or angelic entity, a faerie...or just a poorly written, poorly executed, amorphous plot device that was mis-engineered to confuse us even more ?

The 'family' dynamic was just as bewildering. Maybe the people gathered together at the house and the pastor and sheriff were a mix half-brothers, step-brothers and true brothers, but it really was difficult to piece it all together. One father had apparently died and maybe the other side of the family was trying to strong-arm the sale of his house. One brother had been 'disappeared' for six ( 6 ) years by the faeries / ETs / daemons and then 'un-disappeared' a coupla' days before the movie starts. ( Even HE doesn't seem to know what this 'Being' is and can't talk to it anyway. ) There's also the elder half-brother / step-brother / full-brother who seems to be a religious fanatic and starts shooting at anything that moves...with the pretext of setting bear-traps for 'raccoons' in the barn that sets off the mayhem. At the very end of the film, Ben Browder's FBI Agent character turns out to be a G-Man operative and is being directed by his handler much higher up the food chain to 'resolve the threat'. Sounds more like an ET intrusion, after all, but it's all just too difficult to make sense of. The cheating wife is found in a field apparently spiritually possessed ( she was spouting some sort of New Age bullcrap earlier in the movie with her eyes rolled up into her skull ). She was found next to her dead husband, where they'd dumped him after he got shot.

I like the premise for this movie--really, I do. It's a good conceit and theme for a good movie. Unfortunately, good ideas don't automatically make good movies and this movie just tanked.

definately not a 2nd view...

Why? because this is so weak technically, and far too slow progression, and daft story to catch the big audience, e.g. me and you, maybe not you in the corner, but nearly almost all of us.

its a story about a bright light, no kaboom, just a blink of light, and a big hole in the ceiling... sounds like a good start but... so after that youre towed into the interrogation room where two police detectives dig and grills one person, how he did it, where the victims are, why he did it and so on. the rest of the story is a tell tale by the innocent culprit by using the flashback storytelling method. could be good but... in the end though you will be in for a surprise though so hang on to whatever to reach that goal...

end of my story spoiling, acting, well there are two persons that do stand out above the others, and the interrogated caracter does a good job, very natural . the rest seems to be on a sunday school trip to the other side of space, traveling the wormhole highway inside a wornout tear down ready rural house out in nowheremansland.

i guess the whole mystical scifi thing is called the holy trinity, where jesus, God and the holy spirit is the main caracters. there are some philosophic passiars and dialouges that may make you start thinking sincerely, but the rest makes you think of all the aerends you really have to do before going to bed, hopefully without neutron bombs, power outages, electromagnetic pulses, and telephonelines still working, yes they work... after an emp... there are quite a few inconsistencies believe me. this film is parsecs away from starwars and back to the future quality, and in the U.K's FA soccerdivisions, its 3rd above the bottom line in the second division , so its not premier league, championship nor first division.

so break a leg hillbillies out there, the pain might be better than this torturous experience thinks the grumpy old man. just two stars to illuminate their shine the light problems so they dont fall into that black hole of their vicinity

B movie at its worst
sharonbanks-9235015 March 2020
This movie is a complete waste of time and money. The description on the back of the movie case is the only good thing about it. No wonder we never heard of it and couldn't find a trailer for it.

My god lance, what are you doing to me
beavernuggetextension14 August 2021
The concept of this film is simple and bare bones. Joseph a member of the Byrne family and friend of townsfolk disappears and people believe he's simply just left town, he randomly appears as his family and friend are having a party, then strange events begin to occur.

I'll come clean, I bought this film because it had Lance Henriksen, one of my favorite actors, him and B-movies tend to mix well or at least decently, however this isn't case for this film or any actor in this film for that matter. This film drags on and on and it feels like borderline torture at some moments. If you pick this film up prepare to be plagued by bad acting, laughable dialog, and a mess of a story. I've watched a lot of cheesy and laughable horror films and was able to at least able to find some aspect of enjoyment out of them, this film doesn't have any ounce of enjoyable content. I get making a film on a low-budget is a difficult task, but this film honestly is a waste of creativity (if there was any involved in the production and writing of this film) and everyone's time who was involved and it feels very insulting to the viewer.

I really wanted to find some enjoyment out of this film and the premise makes it seem pretty decent and an enjoyable watch but no not at all. I'd stay clear of this one and if you see it in the bargain bin, hide it from others to prevent the pain this movie causes. 1 star for the premise and for Lance Henriksen.

Well, I liked it. Interesting story and decent-ish acting.
Fourstrawberries26 July 2020
OK, I did have a Jack Daniels or three which may have helped, and Lance Henriksson was in Alien.. I can't explain what it was all about, it was like an undergraduate maths lecture, understanding seemed much closer than it actually was, It held my attention, and I think I might have actually enjoyed it, try it when it comes to Netflix or Prime, which will be soon. Definitely worth a viewing. Keep the JD handy....

Absolutely awful
Leofwine_draca20 September 2021
An absolutely awful indie attempt at a sci-fi thriller. A group of obnoxious characters shout and argue inside a farmhouse while a bright light occasionally shines in through the windows. Lance Henriksen and Robert John Burke have about five minutes screen time chatting. Avoid.

Waste of time.
Seb-Neg27 April 2022
If you want to watch a movie where a bunch of Christian nuts believe that an alien being is a demon, then this one is for you. If not, then skip this one, not worth the 90 minutes.

Neat sci-fi/horror movie
Woodyanders12 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
A dysfunctional family have their gathering at a secluded farmhouse interrupted by a mysterious burst of light that's followed by a power outage. Could it be aliens or demons behind this?

Director/co-writer Douglas C. Williams relates the absorbing story at a constant pace, takes time to develop the characters, ably crafts a creepy and enigmatic atmosphere, generates a good deal of tension, and adds a heavy religious subtext that gives this picture an extra potent and provocative edge.

The sound acting by the capable cast keeps this movie humming: James St. Vincent as the wayward Joseph, Brian Foyster as the cruel Carl, Jason Iannacone as the protective Dale, Ben Browder as the sarcastic Agent Dixon, Danielle Skraastad as brash tramp Tanya, Stephen Dexter as jerky bully Alan, Kaylyn Scardefield as the sweet Grace, and James Patrick Nelson as the meek Dennis. Popping up in smaller roles are Robert John Burke as the hard-nosed Sheriff Campbell and Lance Henriksen as fire and brimstone preacher Reverend Campbell. Worth a watch.
