  Rick Grimes : [Rick holds Pete on the street pavement in front of the community members as Deanna comes running up]  Stop it! Stop it right now.

  Rick Grimes : [Rick continues to hold Pete in a choke hold]  You touch them again and I'll kill you.

  Deanna Monroe : Damn it, Rick! I said stop.

  Rick Grimes : [Rick pulls out his revolver and aims it into the crowd of community members]  Or what? You gonna kick me out?

  Deanna Monroe : Put that gun down, Rick.

  Rick Grimes : You still don't get it. None of you do!

  Rick Grimes : [Sasha snipes walkers out from the tower as Rick's group and the community members watch Rick]  We know what needs to be done and we do it. We're the ones who live. You, you just sit and plan and hesitate. You pretend like you know when you don't. You wish things weren't what they are. Well, you want to live? You want this place to stay standing? Your way of doing things is done. Things don't get better because you - You want them to. Starting right now, we have to live in the real world. We have to control who lives here.

  Deanna Monroe : [Deanna responds to Rick looking down at him on his knees covered in blood]  That's never been more clear to me than it is right now.

  Rick Grimes : Me? Me? You...

  Rick Grimes : [Rick laughs holding his hands up to himself]  You mean - You mean me? Your way is gonna destroy this place. It's gonna get people killed. It's already gotten people killed. I'm not gonna stand by and just let it happen. If you don't fight, you die. I'm not gonna stand by and...

  [Michonne knocks Rick unconscious by hitting him over the head] 

• [Carol talks to Rick about Jessie getting abused by Pete] 

  Carol Peletier : Talked to Sam some more. He said his mom put a bolt on the inside of his closet. Tells him to lock himself in sometimes and not come out till morning. He said he can hear his dad yelling, things breaking, his mom crying. Last month it got quiet right in the middle of it and he went out and found her on the floor, unconscious, bleeding. Pete was just sitting on the porch.

  Rick Grimes : Why do you care what happens to Jessie?

  Carol Peletier : You know why. And I know why you do.

  Rick Grimes : Why?

  Carol Peletier : I've seen you talk to her. If walkers hadn't gotten Ed, I wouldn't be standing here right now.

  Rick Grimes : Yeah, you would.

  [Rick walks off] 

• [Pete confronts Rick and Jessie in Pete's own home] 

  Pete Anderson : I'm gonna have to ask you to leave, Rick.

  Jessie Anderson : No.

  Jessie Anderson : Excuse me?

  Jessie Anderson : You need to leave.

  Pete Anderson : What are you talking about?

  Jessie Anderson : Just go, Pete.

  Pete Anderson : What have you been saying to each other?

  Pete Anderson : [Pete screams at Jessie]  What have you been doing?

  Rick Grimes : Pete, you and me are going to leave now.

  Pete Anderson : You come into my house...

  Rick Grimes : Pete, you and me are leaving.

  Pete Anderson : You're leaving right now. You think you're the law? You actually think you have a say in anything here?

  Rick Grimes : Step back.

  Pete Anderson : Who the hell do you think you are?

  Rick Grimes : Someone who's trying not to kill you.

  Jessie Anderson : [Jessie screams]  No!

  [Pete and Rick exchange swings to the face] 

  Rick Grimes : You wanna stop now!

  Pete Anderson : [Pete grabs a hold of Rick shoving him back into the wall]  You come into my house!

  [Pete and Rick scuffle before throwing each other out the front window of Pete's home] 

• [Rick talks to Deanna about handling Pete from beating his wife] 

  Deanna Monroe : Pete's a surgeon. He's saved lives. He might be saving Tara's life.

  Rick Grimes : He's beating his wife. We have to stop him.

  Deanna Monroe : How?

  Rick Grimes : We separate them. We tell him that's how it'll be from now on.

  Deanna Monroe : What happens when he doesn't want to do that?

  Rick Grimes : It's not his choice.

  Deanna Monroe : So what happens?

  Rick Grimes : [Rick pauses]  I kill him. We kill him.

  Deanna Monroe : We don't kill people. This is civilization, Rick.

  Rick Grimes : Warning someone to stop or die, that is civilized nowadays.

  Deanna Monroe : [Deanna makes a disbelief face]  Oh.

  Rick Grimes : So what? So we just let him hit her? We let him kill her?

  Deanna Monroe : No, we exile him if it comes to that.

  Rick Grimes : We do that, we don't know when he comes back or what he does to them. Letting him go makes this place vulnerable. You really want to wait till someone in that tower has to take care of it? And that's if we're lucky.

  Deanna Monroe : We are not... executing anyone. Don't ever suggest it again. That sort of thinking doesn't belong in here.

  Rick Grimes : People die now, Deanna. They do. There's times like this you can decide who and when. Or it can be decided for you.

  Deanna Monroe : It already was. I wouldn't kill you. I'd just send you away.

  [Deanna walks away] 

• [Rick tells Jessie that Pete needs to be stopped] 

  Rick Grimes : He's hitting you. He's hurting you. It has to stop.

  Jessie Anderson : [Jessie pauses to see that Rick knows]  It will.

  Rick Grimes : How?

  Jessie Anderson : There are things in his life that happened.

  Rick Grimes : I don't care.

  Jessie Anderson : Look, it was like this before and he got help. I helped him and things were good. I can fix it.

  Rick Grimes : No, you can't. But I can.

  Jessie Anderson : No, what - What can you do? What are you gonna do? You gonna put him in jail? You're only gonna make things worse.

  Rick Grimes : If it's gotten worse, it means he's killed you. That's what's next. And I'm not gonna let that happen.

  Jessie Anderson : [Jessie pauses before asking Rick questions]  Why do you care? Why is this so important to you? Now? You've made it. You have a home for your kids. Rick, what are you doing?

  Rick Grimes : I'm trying to help.

  Jessie Anderson : I don't know that. I'm married. Okay? I can take care of myself. We have to take care of ourselves.

  [Jessie goes back into her house as Rick walks out in the street, seeing the happy people talk, walk their dog, reading a book, and then Sam with a red balloon] 

  Jessie Anderson : [Rick enters into Jessie's home where she's crying to herself]  What are you doing?

  Rick Grimes : [Rick's voice shakes]  You know Sam asked for a gun? To protect you.

  Jessie Anderson : [Jessie cries and asks for Rick to leave]  You shouldn't be here.

  Rick Grimes : Jessie, in here, you can't see it, but it's the same. It's the same as out there. We have food and roofs over our heads, but you don't get to just live. You don't get to put it off or wish it away, Jessie. If you don't fight, you die. And... and I don't want you to die.

  Rick Grimes : [Jessie raises her eyes with tears in them and looks close at Rick]  I can - I can help you. I can keep you and your boys safe. I can. All you have to do is say yes.

  Jessie Anderson : [Jessie whispers to Rick]  Would you do this for someone else? Would you do this for anyone?

  Rick Grimes : [Rick looks down before whispering back]  No. No.

  Jessie Anderson : [Jessie whispers low]  Yes.

  Pete Anderson : [Rick and Jessie silently stare into each other's eyes when Pete walks into the room]  Rick.

• [Glenn talks to Rick about the people in the community after the death of Noah and Aiden] 

  Glenn Rhee : I almost left him out there. Could have told a story. What, you think I should have?

  Rick Grimes : They don't know what they're doing. Any of them.

  Glenn Rhee : We'll show them.

  Rick Grimes : I don't know if they can see it. How things really are. I don't know if they can yet. They haven't caught up.

  Glenn Rhee : We have to be here. We have to.

  Rick Grimes : Yeah, we do. But their rules, we don't answer to them.

  Glenn Rhee : We are them, Rick. We are now. Noah, he believed in this place. I'm telling you, we gotta make this work.

  [Rick walks off] 

• [Pete finds Rick standing outside by himself in the shadows, who is thinking about Pete hitting his own wife] 

  Pete Anderson : Hey, Rick? Rick.

  [Rick slowly turns around to look at Pete] 

  Pete Anderson : You okay, man?

  [Rick just stares silently at Pete] 

  Rick Grimes : [Rick whispers]  Keep walking.

  Pete Anderson : What? What are you...

  [Pete's expression grows silent as Rick watches an emotionless Pete walk off]
