The actor, producer and director who has led multiple hit series to date, recently re-teamed with fellow ER alums John Wells and R. Scott Gemmill on another medical drama, The Pitt, which Wyle will star in and executive produce. The series, which has received a 15-episode order by Max, is described as a realistic examination of the challenges facing healthcare workers in today’s America as seen through the lens of the frontline heroes working in a modern-day hospital in Pittsburgh.

The Librarians are ready to make some noise again, by way of a spinoff coming to The CW — and TVLine has your exclusive first look at the brand-new team, above.
A spinoff of TNT’s three movies-and-four seasons franchise, The CW’s The Librarians: The Next Chapter centers on Vikram Chamberlin (played by Jamestown‘s Callum McGowan), a protean genius, swashbuckler and Librarian from the year 1847 who accidentally time-travels to present-day Central Europe and now finds himself stuck here. NCIS fans fell in love with the on-screen chemistry between agents Ziva David and Tony Dinozzo in the early seasons of the hit TV show NCIS.
While both characters left the show years ago, their names lived on, and the actors were ready to make a guest appearance at any time.
Now, NCIS fans are getting the reunion we've wished for in a surprising way!
Earlier this month, Paramount+ announced the exciting news that fans will get to enjoy yet another NCIS spinoff.
This time, writers have brought back Ziva and Dinozzo, along with their daughter Tali. Here's everything we know about the unnamed NCIS Tiva TV series.

I would have expected the new indie anthology film Beware the Boogeyman to have come out a while back, closer to the release of the widely hyped Stephen King adaptation, The Boogeyman. The inspiration is obvious, one scene even has a character holding a copy of Night Shift, the collection of King’s stories that brought it to most people’s attention. In any case, it’s out now and wants you to believe in it.

It's been over six years since TNT's The Librarians came to an end, but fortunately, there's more on the way.
The CW has its own spin on The Librarians, coming up with The Librarians: The Next Chapter.
What's coming next for The Librarians? Let's take a look at what we know about the new series.
How did The Librarians End?
The series finale of The Librarians was bittersweet at the time that it aired.
It had a happy ending, but it was the last episode of a beloved show.
For a while, it seemed that Nicole Noone got her way in The Librarians Season 4 Episode 12, "The Echoes of Memory."
The Library had been destroyed, and Eve was all alone with Flynn being held captive, her Librarians were gone, and Jenkins was dead.

The Librarians lives on in a follow-up series!
The CW has ordered The Librarians: The Next Chapter, a follow-up to the TNT series The Librarians.
Per TVLine, the series follows “a Librarian from the past, who time traveled to the present, and now finds himself stuck here. When he returns to his castle, which is now a museum, he inadvertently releases magic across the continent. He is given a new team to help him clean up the mess he made, forming a new team of Librarians.”
The Librarians began as a series of made-for-tv movies starring Noah Wyle as Flynn Carsen in 2004’s Quest for the Spear, 2006’s Return to King Solomon’s Mines and 2008’s Curse of the Judas Chalice, and later recurred on The Librarians, which aired for four seasons between 2014 and 2018.
And we already know some familiar faces and new stars joining the series!

"Night Court" was part of the legendary NBC Thursday night lineup back in the mid-1980s. It ran in a block with "The Cosby Show," "Cheers," and "Family Ties," a proud part of a sitcom renaissance that lasted through to the end of the decade. Of that lineup, "Night Court" was the black sheep, offering up broader characters, wackier scenarios, and a surrealist tone that kept it just a few steps removed from reality. The series was set in a Manhattan Criminal Court, but only during its night shift, when all the weird cases came in. Harry Anderson played Judge Harry Stone, although the late hours had made him playfully unbalanced. Also often on the night shift was prosecutor Dan Fielding (John Larroquette), a lascivious narcissist and amusingly crude a-hole.
Larroquette was exceptional in the role. "Night Court" ran from 1984 to 1992, and Larroquette won Primetime Emmys four of those years,...

Before joining The Walking Dead universe as Pearl Thorne in The Ones Who Live, Lesley-Ann Brandt starred in a variety of roles for TV and film. The South African actor is well-known for taking on projects in horror, fantasy, and other traditionally “nerdy” genres, having appeared in shows like Gotham, The Librarians, and most notably Lucifer.
With a variety of roles under her belt, here’s where else you’ve seen Lesley-Ann Brandt before.
Lucifer
As mentioned previously, Brandt is most known for her role as Lucifer’s (Tom Ellis) right-hand Mazikeen in the hit TV series Lucifer. Mazikeen a.k.a. Maze is known for her fierce loyalty, though she sometimes struggles to adapt her brash nature to the human world. Brandt does a phenomenal job of portraying Maze’s growth from demon with a penchant for sadistic torture to a slightly more vulnerable and human demon with a penchant for sadistic torture.

The NBC sitcom "Night Court" was a satirical take on the zany and chaotic underworld of the midnight shift at the courthouse. With an unconventional, free-loving judge at the helm of this circus, there's no telling what might happen. The series was such a massive hit that it ran for nine whole seasons, featuring a cast of relatively unknown actors that, when assembled, formed one of the most acclaimed ensembles of all time. The show won eight Primetime Emmys and was nominated no less than 32 times. "Night Court" won in a variety of categories, but the actor that ended up taking home the most gold was John Larroquette, who played egotistical D.A. Dan Fielding.
A "Night Court" reboot landed on NBC in 2023. Sadly, few members of the original cast are still around to reprise their old roles, and the show is comprised almost entirely of new characters. Harry Anderson,...

If there’s a funny show on TV, it’s a pretty good bet that Richard Kind has appeared on it.
The veteran actor has logged memorable guest appearances on dozens of TV comedies over the years, along with regular stints on Mad About You and Spin City, among others. So it’s no surprise that Kind pops up on this Tuesday’s Night Court (NBC, 8/7c) as unscrupulous Broadway producer Sy, who lands in court after getting caught selling fake theater memorabilia. So did Kind base this character on any Broadway producers he may have worked with?

When Paramount launched CBS All Access in 2017, the service's flagship show was "Star Trek: Discovery," the first new Trek series to air since the cancellation of "Star Trek: Enterprise" in 2005. It was a reason to celebrate, but also a source of skepticism. Some were happy to see "Star Trek" updated for the streaming age and appreciated the franchise's shift to something more violent and incidental. Others bristled at the sloppy writing, the poor characterization, and the showrunner's bend away from the stodgy intellectualism that is Trekkies' bread and butter. "Discovery" has been a sticking point among Trekkies ever since its debut; one needn't look too far to find arguments online over its quality.
In 2020, CBS All Access debuted "Star Trek: Picard," a series that followed up on one of the main characters from "Star Trek: The Next Generation" several decades later. It, too, was a source of fan controversy, likewise...

Actor Jonathan Frakes' directorial debut on "Star Trek: The Next Generation" was for the third season episode "The Offspring", the episode where Data (Brent Spiner) builds his own android daughter (Hallie Todd). One might note that Frakes' character, Commander Riker, didn't appear much in that episode. This kicked off a full-blown directorial career for Frakes that hasn't slowed since. Frakes directed eight episodes of "NextGen" in total, as well as the feature films "Star Trek: First Contact" (1996) and "Star Trek: Insurrection" (1998).
Frakes would go on to direct "Thunderbirds" and "Clockstoppers," and enter a prolific career helming episodes of high-profile TV shows like "Leverage," "NCIS: Los Angeles," "Burn Notice," and "The Librarians." He also stayed within the Trek family over the years, directing episodes of "Deep Space Nine," "Voyager," "Discovery," "Picard," and the notable crossover between "Strange New Worlds" and "Lower Decks." It was announced back in March of 2023 that the upcoming fifth season of "Star Trek: Discovery" would be its last. This marks the end of an era, as Paramout+ -- back when it was called CBS All Access -- launched with the premiere of "Discovery" in 2017. Meanwhile, the third and final season of "Star Trek: Picard" wrapped earlier this year, "Star Trek: Prodigy" will end after its upcoming second season, and the extant episodes have been pulled from the service entirely. The glut of new "Star Trek" is now seemingly at an end.
"Discovery" has struggled its whole life. It infamously abandoned the traditional episodic structure of "Star Trek," skewing toward the more popular, modern full-season story arcs. It also drastically redesigned the franchise, including new technologies and reworked aliens that looked nothing like what came before. The lineup for the 2023 San Diego Comic-Con has been unveiled, giving attendees – and those refreshing their browsers the entire weekend – a little less to look forward to but still plenty of panels, reveals and anniversary spotlights. The 2023 Comic-Con is a far more limited affair this year due to major players like Marvel, Sony, Universal, Disney, and more dropping out at least partly due to the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike. And with deadlines on the potential Screen Actors Guild strike quickly approaching, could only harm the event even more.

Rebecca Romijn says she didn’t speak out about the misconduct allegations against her two former X-Men directors, Bryan Singer and Brett Ratner, because others had already done so.
While speaking to The Independent about her career journey and why working on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is personally special, The Librarians actress opened up about the controversies around the original X-Men trilogy, which was distributed by 20th Century Fox, with the first two installments directed by Singer and the third by Ratner.
While other members of the cast have spoken more explicitly about the chaotic and on-set behavior they witnessed, in addition to addressing their feelings on the allegations of sexual misconduct around Singer, Romijn has remained mostly silent. According to her, it’s because she didn’t feel like she needed “to say anything else.”

A passion project for Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail, the TV series Metropolis, inspired by the 1927 sci-fi classic directed by Fritz Lang, was officially ordered by Apple TV+ fifteen months ago. Earlier this year, Briana Middleton (Sharper) and Lindy Booth (The Librarians) were cast to star in the show. But now Deadline reports that Metropolis has been scrapped, becoming “one of the highest-profile casualties of the growing uncertainty in Hollywood” due to the writers strike.

Sam Esmail‘s (Mr. Robot) big-budget sci-fi series Metropolis, based on the 1927 Fritz Lang movie of the same name, has been scrapped amid the ongoing writers strike and rising production costs. As reported by Deadline, the ambitious Apple TV+ series, which had been prepping in Australia, has been permanently shut down, with the crew being notified the project will not be moving forward. The revamped CW will have some genre programming, after all.
On Thursday, the network picked up a sequel to the TNT series The Librarians.
The Librarians: The Next Chapter is a spinoff of the original TV series, which followed the adventures of the custodians of a magical repository of the world's most powerful and dangerous supernatural artifacts.
The new series centers on a "Librarian" from the past, who time traveled to the present and now finds himself stuck here.
When he returns to his castle, which is now a museum, he inadvertently releases magic across the continent.
He is given a new team to help him clean up the mess he made, forming a new team of Librarians.
Electric Entertainment and The CW Network produce the new series.
Dean Devlin serves as executive producer and showrunner along with executive producers Rachel Olschan-Wilson and Marc Roskin.
Jonathan English of Balkanic Media serves as producer.

Though the CW is beginning to pivot much more heavily to reality fare, with “All American” as the only original scripted series on its fall 2023 lineup, the network has added three new scripted projects to its slate for 2024: “Joan,” “The Librarians: The Next Chapter” and “The Swarm.” Additionally, 2024 will see the premieres of unscripted series “Patti Stanger: Millionaire Matchmaking,” “The Force” and “The Great American Bakeover” (all working titles).
All newly announced series are currently in production.
“Joan” stars Sophie Turner (“Game of Thrones”) as Joan Hannington, the notorious real-life jewel thief. Set in 1980s London, the series sees Joan as a devoted mother to her six-year-old daughter, Kelly, while trapped in a disastrous marriage with a violent criminal named Gary. When Gary goes on the run, Joan seizes the opportunity to adopt new identities and embark on a high-stakes journey to create a new life for herself and Kelly.

Jonathan Frakes has always seen "Star Trek" as an action/adventure franchise, as he once admitted during a behind-the-scenes interview for "Star Trek: First Contact," which he directed. As the man who played Cmdr. William Riker on seven seasons of "Star Trek: The Next Generation," it makes logical sense that he would see things that way. Riker was a man of action, always in charge of away missions, and a jocular cowboy when in command. This persona would be played with to great effect decades later on "Star Trek: Lower Decks," wherein Riker was finally depicted working as a starship captain — a long-sought position — and laughing heartily as he plunged his crew into danger.
As an actor, Frakes began his career in the late 1970s, appearing on the soap opera "The Doctors." As a director, Frakes started working on episodes of NextGen during its third season, helming the episode "The Offspring.

Of all the actors to have appeared on "Star Trek," Jonathan Frakes might be the most prolific director. Throughout the franchise's history, at least since the days of "Star Trek: The Next Generation," actors have often stepped into the director's chair, helming multiple episodes. Frakes, however, managed to find a whole second career in directing, and has, to date, directed 25 episodes of Trek across its various iterations. Frakes also directed 10 episodes of "The Librarians," 13 episodes of "Leverage," and dozens of episodes from other shows. Frakes also broke into making feature films with "Star Trek: First Contact," and "Star Trek: Insurrection," as well as the brightly colored kid adventure films "Clockstoppers" and "Thunderbirds."
Having worked on both film and television, Frakes may be uniquely qualified to comment on which medium is most appropriate for "Star Trek." It might be worth mentioning that "Star Trek" has always functioned better on the small screen than the large.

The company will first use the five-year financing on its slate of programming, which also includes The Ark on the Syfy Channel. Leverage: Redemption is a spinoff of Leverage, one of Freevee’s first originals, and is currently in production on its second season, while Almost Paradise first premiered on Wgna and is now preparing for a second season on Freevee.
“With the advent and continuation of the streaming industry’s growth, we have been lucky to continue to do what we do best — create original scripted programs that audiences love. With not only our broadcast, but now our streaming channel and platform partners, our content is in higher demand...

Dean Devlin’s Electric Entertainment has closed a five-year, 100-million loan credit facility with Bank of America to fund its expanding production slate that includes Leverage: Redemption, The Ark and Almost Paradise among others.
It’s Electric’s largest facility to date as demand for content continues strong, Devlin said. “With the advent and continuation of the streaming industry’s growth, we have been lucky to continue to do what we do best — create original scripted programs that audiences love. With not only our broadcast, but now our streaming channel and platform partners, our content is in higher demand as our distribution expansion has become far-reaching.”
The credit agreement “allows us to continue on our quickly moving trajectory,” said CFO Jeff Gonzalez.
The deal shores up Electric’s production, sales, and distribution arms for the domestic and international Ott industry and the traditional linear space.

The Gotham Film & Media Institute on Monday has selected the films and series for its Project Market, a slate which IndieWire can exclusively reveal. Taking place during September’s Gotham Week at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, the annual sales and development forum connects creators to distributors, financiers, and other industry decision-makers. It offers a look ahead at what could become the next buzzy films; “Moonlight” and “American Factory” are recent Oscar winners that were launched at past Project Market events.
This year’s lineup includes 65 fiction features and series, 60 nonfiction features and series, and 17 audio projects in various stages of development or production, including new projects from the producers of “Dopesick,” “Pose,” and “Sorry to Bother You.” For the first time since the pandemic, the annual event will include both in-person and virtual participation. In-person meetings run September 17-23, while virtual meetings will be held September 22-23.
