Sex & Nudity

  • In Season 2, a nude man is seen from the back for the duration of a scene. In a seperate scene, a couple is seen in bed with a duvet covering them when another character accidentally walks in and sees them, it's very brief and not at all explicit.
  • In Season 1 a woman is seen lifting her top up for a few seconds as she flashes the camera her lingerie
  • A girl is asked if she is a virgin, and it is implied she is going to be raped.
  • A girl is taken a photo of, and is asked "shall we take another one with my hand up your f****?" This scene is tense.
  • Rape is often discussed between characters.

Violence & Gore

  • In season 2 a woman smacks a man around the head with a metal utensil while he has his back to her, he turns round and smacks her twice in the face with force. There is a scrabble with both people hitting the wall then landing on the floor. The man strangles the woman with a computer cable power lead until she dies. He later brakes a bottle, picks up the neck and sexually assaults the woman's corpse with it, this is not shown but implied after the breaking of the bottle.
  • Series 2: the main character finds a rotting corpse in a garage, we only see the corpses hand with maggots in it
  • A woman is run over by a car repeatedly.
  • There is an implied rape.
  • A man has his throat cut (off screen) and the aftermath is shown.
  • A man is stabbed in the stomach during a fight that results in another man's murder.
  • One of the main characters is a sociopath whose behavior is often violent and unpredictable.

Profanity

  • Season 3 - pervasive TV-MA profanity in every episode, including frequent "fucks" and "fucking" in every scene. Very rough.
  • Just too many F-WORDS. No longer want to watch it.
  • F-word is used infrequently in series 1 around 5-6 times in total. Series 2 it is used much more frequently. Several times per episode.
  • S-word about 5 times per episode
  • A reference to a child telling somebody to "eff off"
  • Sexual terms like b*tch, d*ck, c*ck, a*s, wanker, tosser, a few times per episode
  • Religious terms like Jesus and Christ used as exclamations, about 2-3 times per episode

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Characters often smoke and drink on and off throughout the show
  • Drugs are often talked about as well as plenty of instances where people are high, having a drug induced break down or have overdosed
  • In season 2 a character is discussed to have turned to excessive alcohol drinking to deal with her problems, we see her fall apart drunkenly a few times.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • A woman repeatedly hallucinates the dead body of her daughter who hanged herself. The woman's body flashes onto the screen suddenly with disturbing sound effects. This can be shocking and frightening.
  • One of the main characters is a sociopath whose behavior is often violent and unpredictable. There are often tense scenes involving this character.
  • A woman is held captive and raped.
  • A woman has flashbacks to finding her daughter's body after she committed suicide.

Sex & Nudity

  • The main character's daughter committed suicide because she was raped.
  • Rape is one of the main themes of the series, and the girl that is kidnapped is raped in a basement, however you don't see the actual rape, just the aftermath- her knickers on the floor.

Violence & Gore

  • Season 1: A police officer chases criminals in a van and smashes the window with a police bat . The glass flies into the drivers face but they get away
  • Police officers chase and arrest a group of men. One man kicks an officer in the face, bruising her eye and cheek.
  • A man jumps off a low bridge and lands of a van. He is implied to be dead.
  • A woman shoots her son in the back of the head with a rifle at the dinner table. We see her point the gun to his head before the camera cuts to a view outside the house, we see blood spray across the windows. We see the after effect when police officers find them, the man's head partially exploded with the floor and table covering in blood, the mother attempted to commit suicide with an overdose at the table, her face and arm covered in blood.
  • A man commits suicide by hanging himself after drinking litres of vodka. It is later discovered he was murdered by a criminal gang
  • A female cop is beaten severely. Later, the female cop beats severely the man who beat her.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • One of the main characters is a recovering alcoholic and heroin addict and struggles around people drinking
  • Throughout the series there are 2 recovering drug and alcohol addicts who both have drinking relapses, becoming drunk, sick and unpleasant.
