BBC Studios Productions CEO Ralph Lee will exit the BBC’s commercial wing in April. He is leaving after six years to “pursue a new challenge outside the organisation.”
BBC Studios has initiated a search for a replacement, with Lee saying “the right time to explore other opportunities.”
Lee joined BBC Studios as Director of Content in 2018 and was made CEO of BBC Studios Productions in 2022, when the BBC pooled its Scripted, Factual, Global Entertainment and Kids & Family divisions into one single production hub.
Former Channel 4 Deputy Chief Creative Officer Lee has overseen production on returning and continuing titles such as Strictly Come Dancing, Happy Valley 3, EastEnders, Doctor Who, Prehistoric Planet, Good Omens, The Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final, Planet Earth III, The Coronation of King Charles III, Silent Witness and Black Ops – and original podcast series such as Vishal and Believe in Magic.

"We all piss out of the same hole, s**t out of the same hole and come out of the same hole," says Stockton-on-Tees resident Sue Griffiths ahead of the return of Channel 4's controversial documentary series Benefits Street. It's a frank summary of how Sue feels that benefit claimants shouldn't be considered any less of a person.

White Dee has hit out at last year's controversial documentary Benefits Street, claiming that the people featured in the programme have lost "everything".
The show - which aired in January and February 2014 - followed the residents of James Turner Street in Birmingham but Dee Kelly has now told BBC Radio 5 Live that it had a negative effect on the community.
Speaking on The Stephen Nolan Show yesterday (March 29), she said: "There's absolutely nothing left now of what we had before.
"People aren't talking to each other. People have moved... It is all because of the show. The James Turner Street that I knew and loved, we used to have barbecues in the summer where we'd all chip in and every child on the street would come. We'd all chip in, we'd all buy the stuff, we'd cook it, the kids would have fun."
She added: "It was like one great big massive happy family.

The 43-year-old - real name Deirdre Kelly - got emotional during last night's (September 3) show, as she discussed the aftermath of appearing on the Channel 4 documentary.
"Not that it's any of anyone's business, but I haven't been in receipt of any form of benefits since the end of March," Dee said.
She began to get tearful as she described how people would call her a "sponger" and a "scrounger", and suggest that her children needed to be taken from her.
"I've just got this real insecurity about myself," she continued. "I'm not a bad person. I'm not one of those people who's been on welfare since I left school.

Celebrity Big Brother star White Dee had an emotional time in the house yesterday (September 2).
The Benefits Street star found herself in tears on several occasions - and even became quite emotional when the weekly shopping was delivered.
Later that day, Dee spoke to James Jordan in the Pod and ended up crying as she questioned why she was in the house.
"I'm just me, I'm just a normal person," she said. "I just beat myself up all the time."
As James joked that he is "just a dancer" with a "big gob", Dee admitted that she is insecure but that it is "pointless" trying to be someone else.
Dee's tears returned some time later, as she began to talk to Ricci Guarnaccio and Lauren Goodger about who could be evicted tonight (September 3).
"None of my babies are going... I love you guys," she said, before beginning to sob.

Benefits Street star White Dee has defended taking part in pub crawls and parties in Magaluf, and has also confirmed that she is no longer on benefits since finding fame on the controversial Channel 4 documentary series.
Speaking on This Morning earlier today (July 7), Dee said that she wasn't committing fraud by getting paid public appearance money for partying in Magaluf.
"The organisers paid for me to go over for two days.... they have people go over for a pool party, a pub crawl, just to show your face and to meet the people that are over there," she explained.
Hitting back at her critics, she continued: "How do they know I'm still on benefits? I haven't been in receipt of benefits since the end of March, but it's not something I just come out and tell the papers - no-one else has to report when they come off benefits.

'Benefits Street' has been axed. Plans to film a second series of the Channel 4 reality show in Birmingham have been ditched because the cast, including notorious benefits scrounger White Dee, have allegedly demanded five-figure salaries. Producers are reportedly holding crisis meetings with some of the key residents of James Turner Street, many of whom are unemployed and living off welfare, in the hope of brining them back. Dee, 42, whose real name is Deirdre Kelly, told the Daily Star newspaper: ''Producers had meetings with certain residents in the hope of coming back. But, because of how we felt - we were misled...

Ronan Keating has dismissed reports that he will be appearing in the next series of Celebrity Big Brother.
The Boyzone star took to Twitter amid mounting speculation that he would follow his bandmate Keith Duffy into the famous compound.
"Love all the chat about me and Big Brother," he wrote. "Please know i am not in talks with anyone regarding this. Nor will I be."
The rumours surrounding Keating appeared to stem from a light-hearted tweet he wrote a few weeks ago which included the phrase "day 2 in the Big Brother house" - but was actually in reference to a detox plan.
While the new series of Celebrity Big Brother won't begin until this summer's 'civilian' version has ended, rumours about who could be making their way into the Borehamwood bungalow have been circulating for some time.
Among the famous faces rumoured to be packing their bags are George Gilbey from Gogglebox,...

Bookmakers have slashed the odds on Piers Morgan taking part in the summer series of Celebrity Big Brother after he was axed by CNN yesterday (February 24).
Morgan's embarrassment at having his American show dropped because of free-falling ratings can't have been helped by news from Ladbrokes that it has started taking bets on him participating in the Channel 5 reality show.
Ladbrokes has given odds of 5/1 that Morgan will take part and claimed that he would fit in well with other rumoured housemates such as Benefits Street contributor White Dee.
Punters can back him at 14/1 to enter Strictly Come Dancing or 10/1 to join his former Britain's Got Talent co-stars Ant & Dec in the jungle.
On an even more worrying note for Morgan, the bookies are also cutting the odds to 4/1 that his Life Stories series will be axed by ITV.

The last word on Channel 4's Benefits Street should go not to a chaotic studio debate but to the people who live there

This winter has seen two deluges. First, the never-ending rain and then the ceaseless torrent of words about Benefits Street. Although the series finished almost two weeks ago, the controversy has hardly subsided. Last week there was the optimistically titled Benefits Street: The Last Word, followed, as if to confirm the emptiness of that claim, by Benefits Britain: The Debate.
Channel 4's six-part documentary has been so divisive that, forget the show, people are still arguing over its name. The use of the word "benefits", say many commentators, has "demonised" those on benefits. I'm not sure...

Benefits Street star White Dee has expressed her frustration at the direction of the programme.
Speaking on ITV's This Morning, Dee - otherwise known as Deirdre Kelly - explained that she believes the Channel 4 show was one-sided in its depiction of the street.
"I think it has given quite a bad impression of our street, because it has just focused on predominantly four people who live on a street of 100 houses who happen to be on benefits," she said. "They haven't focused on the people they recorded who work or the pensioners."
Kelly repeated the participants' assertion that they believed the show was meant to be about community spirit, explaining that they were only told it would be named Benefits Street two weeks before it aired.
"I think we went into it very naively to be honest," she said. "Obviously we went into it believing it was community spirit.

'Benefits Street's White Dee is set to appear on 'Celebrity Big Brother'. The 42-year-old mother-of-two, who shot to fame on Channel 4's controversial documentary series about state benefit recipients, has been tipped to receive a £60,000 fee for the next series of the reality show. The sum would mean Dee - full name Deidre Kelly - would no longer be eligible to receive government benefits. A source told The Sun newspaper: ''Channel 5 bosses were desperate to sign up Dee. They think she will be brilliant. ''But the move is definitely a controversial one because anyone who is claiming benefits can only do so...
