- Kate Beckett: You're trying to drive me crazy, aren't you?
- Richard Castle: Well, apparently, I already do, if we end up with three kids.
- Simon Doyle: [approaching] Would you like to know their names?
- Richard Castle: [simultaneously with Beckett] Yes!
- Kate Beckett: [simultaneously with Castle] No!
- Kevin Ryan: So, according to Shauna's supervisor, all of her parolees were non-violent offenders, and none of them look like this sketch that we took off the neighbor, or matched prints that CSU got from the crime scene.
- Kate Beckett: So it's quite possible this had nothing to do with her job.
- Richard Castle: Then why torture her? What could the killer want?
- Kevin Ryan: What, Castle, no crazy theories?
- Kate Beckett: Oh, he's got bigger issues. His daughter's moving in. With a boy.
- Kevin Ryan: And you're letting her?
- Richard Castle: Well, apparently, the only way to stop her is locking her *up*. But according to Miss By-The-Book here, that's unlawful imprisonment.
- [Beckett and Castle arrive at the crime scene]
- Kate Beckett: What happened?
- Lanie Parish: Lot of weirdos out there with too much imagination is what happened. And yes, I'm looking at you, Castle.
- Richard Castle: Yeah, except I only commit my murders on paper. Don't actually do them. A lot more lucrative, a lot less prison.
- [Castle, Beckett, Ryan, and Esposito catch Simon searching the victim's apartment]
- Simon Doyle: No, no, no! Let me go! You don't know what you're doing!
- Kate Beckett: We know exactly what we're doing.
- Simon Doyle: Please, listen to me, don't do this. Please. You *have* to let me go. If you don't, a billion people will die!
- Javier Esposito: Yeah? How are they gonna die?
- Simon Doyle: I don't know. I only know that they do.
- Javier Esposito: Yeah? And how's that?
- Simon Doyle: Because... I'm from the future.
- [Beckett, Ryan, and Esposito all exchange skeptical looks]
- Richard Castle: [whispering to Beckett] This just became my favorite case.
- Richard Castle: So... future, huh?
- Simon Doyle: That's right.
- Kate Beckett: Okay, so why don't we just start with something simple, like your name.
- Simon Doyle: Why does everyone want to know my name? And who cares? It doesn't matter.
- Kate Beckett: Humor me.
- Simon Doyle: Fine. You can call me... Simon. Simon Doyle.
- Richard Castle: And what year are you from, exactly?
- Simon Doyle: 2035.
- Kate Beckett: Castle!
- Richard Castle: Don't tell me you weren't wondering.
- [Esposito comes up to Castle, Beckett, and Ryan]
- Javier Esposito: Hey, caught a break on that stalker. Couple night ago, Shauna filed a harassment complaint. Apparently, three days ago a guy confronted Shauna on her way home from work. Said the lives of half the people on the planet were at stake.
- Richard Castle: [to Ryan] Whatever crazy theory I could've come up with, this is better.
- Richard Castle: I have tried to be generous and understanding. I have tried to be tolerant. But, Alexis, it's been over a month, and Pi is still here.
- Alexis Castle: I know, Dad. And he feels bad about it. We both do.
- Richard Castle: I don't care if he feels bad. I want my couch back. I want my house back. You go back to college next week. What then? Sweetheart... he has to go.
- Alexis Castle: You're absolutely right. He's been here way too long. It's not right, and it's not fair to you.
- Richard Castle: [sighs] Thank you.
- Alexis Castle: You're welcome. And the best news is I think we found a place.
- Richard Castle: Honey, that is so great.
- [realizes what he heard]
- Richard Castle: Did you say "we found a place"?
- Alexis Castle: Yeah. Pi and I talked it over. He can't afford a place on his own, so we found one together.
- Richard Castle: Together?
- Alexis Castle: Yeah. That way the rent's totally affordable. I can cover my half with a work-study job, and it's right next to school. Plus it'll save you having to pay for university housing this year.
- Richard Castle: You don't... honestly think I'm gonna let you do this, do you?
- Alexis Castle: Let me? Dad, I'm nineteen.
- Richard Castle: Exactly my point. Far too young to be moving in with someone.
- Alexis Castle: Really? Because I was old enough to sign the lease. And weren't you living with your girlfriend when you were nineteen?
- Richard Castle: Yes, but that was different.
- Alexis Castle: How?
- [Castle at a loss for words]
- Alexis Castle: Trust me, Dad. We've thought this through. Makes total sense.
- [cut to Castle and Beckett arriving at the crime scene]
- Richard Castle: In what universe does that make sense? I'll tell you what universe. The one where she's blinded by emotion and not thinking straight. It's like watching a car accident in slow motion.
- Kate Beckett: You know, Castle, my dad wanted to kill the first guy that I moved in with. He did everything he could to try and talk me out of it. And all that did was make me wanna do it even more.
- Richard Castle: I just wish her future self would come back and talk to her present self. Let her know what a mistake she's making. Save her from a...
- [sees the victim]
- Richard Castle: ... a world of hurt.
- [last lines]
- [entering the loft, he sees Pi's stuff is gone]
- Richard Castle: You're really doing this.
- Alexis Castle: I am. I know what you're thinking. You're thinking I'm making a huge mistake.
- Richard Castle: What if you are?... This isn't something you can just go back and undo. Why don't you wait a year, okay? Move into the dorms. I'm sure Pi can take care of himself. And if after a year, you still wanna move in together, I- I won't say a word.
- Alexis Castle: Yes, you will... I don't know how this is gonna turn out, Dad. None of us do. But it's my life. My future... I have to find out for myself... Who are you always saying is the smart one in the family?
- Richard Castle: You.
- Alexis Castle: Dad, I know what I'm doing... It'll be okay.
- Richard Castle: [quietly, after Alexis leaves] Too soon.
- Richard Castle: [on phone] No, Alexis, I do trust you. I'm just saying deciding to share an apartment with someone you met on a banana plantation a month ago just doesn't strike me as the *smartest* decision you've ever made.
- [pause]
- Richard Castle: Alexis?
- [pause]
- Richard Castle: Alex-
- [dial tone, to Beckett]
- Richard Castle: She hung up on me.
- Kate Beckett: Hmm?
- Richard Castle: [sighs] Maybe I shouldn't have said that stuff about the bananas.
- Kate Beckett: Castle?
- Richard Castle: Yeah.
- Kate Beckett: For the sake of *our* future, please tell me you don't believe that guy.
- Richard Castle: Oh, no. But you got to admit, it's a great story.
- Kevin Ryan: [approaching with Esposito] Really? Uh... thought it was kind of derivative.
- Javier Esposito: Yeah, like a mash-up of "Twelve Monkeys" and "Terminator".
- Kevin Ryan: Hmm.
- Richard Castle: Yeah, but it's the way he told it. Total commitment.
- Kate Beckett: Commitment that turned deadly. I mean, to maintain his delusion, Shauna had to die. He might not even know that he killed her.
- Richard Castle: Hey, did you guys find out what this device was Doyle had on him?
- Kevin Ryan: Yeah, Techs says it's just a bunch of junk thrown together.
- Javier Esposito: What were you expecting, Castle? Time travel device? Doctor Who's sonic screwdriver?
- Richard Castle: You watch "Doctor Who"?
- Kate Beckett: [her phone chirps] Oh, that's Lanie.
- [to Ryan and Esposito]
- Kate Beckett: Okay, we'll hit the morgue. Why don't you guys time travel over to your desks and let the D.A. know that we got our killer.
- Richard Castle: I'm just saying, what if he was telling the truth, and he really was recalled back to the future?
- Kate Beckett: He wasn't recalled back to the future. And do you know how I know that? Because he's not a time traveler.
- Richard Castle: Okay. So where is he?
- Kate Beckett: Simple explanation? There was a mix-up with the paperwork when his charges were dropped, and some desk monkey accidentally let him go and now they are all trying to cover their asses.
- Richard Castle: That's reasonable. It's... unlikely, but it's reasonable.
- [after Doyle inexplicably vanished from the holding cell]
- Javier Esposito: Yo, any luck finding Doyle?
- Kate Beckett: No. Not yet.
- Javier Esposito: Hmm.
- Kate Beckett: Is that Veronica's manager?
- Javier Esposito: Yeah. Mick Linden. Just came in. We're about to lower the boom.
- Kate Beckett: You need a hand?
- Javier Esposito: Nah... We got it... Wouldn't want you to lose him, too.
- [first lines]
- [a man in a hoodie runs past and pushes an old man while getting to the elevator]
- Older Man: Jackass!
