Jennifer Lawrence said winning the Best Actress Academy Award in 2013 for portraying a troubled young widow, Tiffany Maxwell in the comedy-drama Silver Linings Playbook didn’t make her happy for long.
Jennifer Lawrence as Tiffany Maxwell in a still from Silver Linings Playbook
With this award, she became the second-youngest winner in the category at just the age of 22. But for Lawrence, it was more like a quick burst of joy followed by the usual chaos of life.
As she strutted towards the stage to grab her trophy and say her thanks, she pulled off an epic stair-fumble in front of the A-list crowd and those watching on TV. J.Law has confessed that she was sensitive about the incident for a long time.

Sarah Snook is pregnant in real life — and in HBO’s “Succession” — but in “Run Rabbit Run,” she plays a mother and fertility doctor who is frightened by her young daughter’s inexplicable memories of a past identity.
The Australian thriller from director Daina Reid and writer Hannah Kent released its first trailer as the film is confirmed to screen at next month’s Sydney Film Festival. “Run Rabbit Run” made its world premiere as the opening title of the Midnight section of the Sundance festival in January. The film will launch on Netflix on June 28.
Emmy-nominated Snook stars alongside Damon Herriman and Greta Scacchi. Variety’s review from Sundance called the film an “effective if familiar mommy-issues chiller.”

Busy Australian production company Aquarius Films has partnered with Irish production company Port Pictures to produce the feature film, “The Good People.” The film is based on the award-winning novel by Hannah Kent, who also wrote the adapted screenplay.
“The Good People” is set in 19th century Ireland at a time when the Catholic church was waging war against pagan beliefs. It sees three women conspire to free a young boy from evil spirits.
“The Good People” is an examination of absolute belief and superstition. It depicts a series of actions that are both tender and harsh and raises questions about belonging, understanding and acceptance.
The film is to be produced by Angie Fielder and Polly Staniford of Aquarius Films, and Martina Niland of Port Pictures. The film will be executive produced by Aquarius Films’ Miranda Culley. The film has received development funding from Screen Australia.

After a string of incredible performances in Queen of Earth, Her Smell, The Invisible Man, Shirley, and more, Elisabeth Moss will next be seen in new films from Wes Anderson and Taika Waititi. Another new project starring the actress has now been announced, which finds her returning to horror-thriller territory.
She’ll lead Run Rabbit Run, which is being described as a “ghost horror thriller,” according to THR. Set to be directed by Australian helmer Daina Reid, it’ll mark a reunion for the duo after Reid directed a few episodes of The Handmaid’s Tale.
The film, scripted by Hannah Kent (Burial Rites), follows Moss as Sarah, a fertility doctor with a pragmatic understanding of the circle of life. Things get complicated when she “is forced to make sense of the increasingly strange behavior of her young daughter, Mia” and “Sarah must challenge her own beliefs and confront a ghost from her past.

Exclusive: Jennifer Lawrence has launched a new production company, Excellent Cadaver, and she has made a first-look film deal with Makeready where she and producing partner Justine Polsky will develop movie projects and star vehicles for the Oscar-winning actress. Makeready and Excellent Cadaver will produce them independently or through Makeready’s output deals with Universal Pictures and Entertainment One. Makeready principal and Head of Film Pam Abdy will oversee them.
After winning her Best Actress Oscar for Silver Linings Playbook and being nominated for three other performances, Lawrence takes the next step in her career progression, which is to accelerate the pace of crafting vehicles. She and Polsky have been doing that piecemeal, developing as producer-star dramas that include Burial Rites with director Luca Guadagnino at TriStar and Bad Blood with Adam McKay at Universal, the latter of which has her attached to star as disgraced Theranos blood testing founder Elizabeth Holmes.

As 2017 comes to a close, Darren Aronofsky’s “mother!” remains one of the year’s most talked about films. While Aronofsky remained tight-lipped about the film’s plot prior to release, the film’s star, Jennifer Lawrence, admitted that she went to a dark place for the film and had hyperventilated so much during filming that she dislocated a rib. Upon release, it became easy to see why, as “mother!” pulls no punches, and remains one of 2017’s most shocking and daring pieces of cinema.
On December 19, “mother!” is coming to 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray Combo Packs, which includes over 35 minutes of bonus content, which highlight the film’s incredible special effects makeup and feature Aronofsky and cast discussing the film’s production and its shocking finale.

David O. Russell has found a muse in red hot actress Jennifer Lawrence, who brought feisty energy and wit to her scene-stealing turns in Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle. It’s no surprise that Lawrence, despite being one of busiest and in demand stars of the moment, is sticking by Russell and wants to work with him again (after all, he did help her land two Oscar nominations). Now, The Hunger Games star is in talks for the biopic Mother of Invention, with a screenplay from Russell and Bridesmaids scribe Annie Mumolo.
Mother of Invention will tell the story of American inventor and entrepreneur Joy Mangano, a Long Island single mother of three who became a millionaire through products like the Miracle Mop and Huggable Hangers. Lawrence is in talks to play Mangano, who is currently an adored businesswoman and presenter on the Home Shopping Network. Although Mangano was...

Hey, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!
That seems to be Jennifer Lawrence's philosophy when it comes to career choices. Deadline reports the Oscar-winning actress may re-team with her "Silver Linings Playbook" and "American Hustle" director David O. Russell.
Russell is eyeing a deal to rewrite and direct a film about Joy Mangano, who went from struggling Long Island single to the successful inventor of the Miracle Mop. And, naturally, he wants Lawrence to star in it.
Since he's directed her to one Academy Award win and one nomination, it wouldn't be a bad idea for Lawrence to take on the role. Then again, the in-demand actress has a full plate -- she's filming the last two installments of the "Hunger Games" franchise, will be promoting "X-Men: Days of Future Past" this spring, and is set to reunite with director Gary Ross for "East of Eden" and "Burial Rites" adaptations.

Jennifer Lawrence is reportedly being considered to play the lead role in a biopic about Miracle Mop inventor Joy Mangano.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, David O Russell is looking to recruit the Hunger Games star for his take on Mangano's rise to glory.
The director is in early discussions with Fox 2000 about directing the biopic, which is untitled at present.
Russell is well-versed in Lawrence's ability, having previously worked with the actress on Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle.
The story of Joy Mangano would explore the American entrepreneur's big lifestyle change from a single mother to a QVC star - her most famous product being the Miracle Mop.
Lawrence is currently working on the next instalments in the Hunger Games series, Mockingjay, and is attached to two Gary Ross projects, East of Eden and Burial Rites.

Last year the Weinstein Co. appeared to deceive the media by issuing a press release saying Silver Linings Playbook's Oscar nominated director and star, David O. Russell and Jennifer Lawrence, were preparing to team once again on The Ends of the Earth with a script from Chris Terrio (Argo). Shortly thereafter it was revealed there might not be any truth to the story whatsoever, even Terrio was reported to have no knowledge of the project moving forward at the Weinstein Co. and he never met with Russell. A year later, the film hasn't been heard from since, but Jennifer Lawrence has her Oscar, and it appears history may be repeating itself. According to reports, Russell and Lawrence are preparing to reteam on a film based on the life of Joy Mangano, the inventor of the Miracle Mop, for Fox 2000. However, given the fact Mangano was a single mother of...

If you’ve ever lived in a city that has an active public transportation system, you may be able to sympathize with a growing issue I have been facing lately – the overwhelming and keen possibility that I am going to miss my subway or bus stop because I have my nose buried in a book so engrossing that I have significant, measureable trouble putting back in my bag when it’s time to move about like a normal person. Published back in September, “Burial Rites” is Aussie Hannah Kent’s first novel, a historically based tale of murder and mystery in isolated Iceland that may sound dry and wonky, but is one of the most enthralling novels I’ve read all year. Based entirely on my personal experiences reading it slack-jawed on the 6 train, it’s entirely unsurprising that Kent snapped up a hearty seven-figure deal from Little, Brown for the book (seven figures! That...

Get ready to feel all the feelings, y'all. Word is that the adaptation of Jeanette Walls's staggering memoir "The Glass Castle," which has Jennifer Lawrence attached to star, might have found its director.
Writer and director Destin Cretton is currently in talks to direct "The Glass Castle," and he also might do a little script tweaking. Cretton made the incredible indie "Short Term 12," which is on plenty of critics' best-of lists. The movie's portrayal of people in their 20s who work at a foster care facility for trouble teens managed a very delicate balancing act that avoided preciousness and melodrama, and offers one of the finest performances of the year by Brie Larson.
Cretton would be an excellent choice for "The Glass Castle," Walls's intensely personal story of growing up with an increasingly dysfunctional family. It's an interesting project for Lionsgate, given its usual slate of action and horror.

Viking: westerly becoming cyclonic 5 or 6. Cromarty: visibility moderate becoming poor. London: conditions are tip-top for the opening night of the 67th film festival
Coming up today
Ahoy there mateys! Avast ye heavin and lend me ye ears, for tonight the good ship London film festival 67th edition hoists anchor for its 11 day voyage. And shiver me timbers if Captain Phillips isn't first to walk the gangplank. It's a tale of piracy on the high seas as the booty of our noble seadog Tom Hanks is seized by a clutch of thievin buccaneers who's hoisted the Jolly Roger off the horn of Africa. But here be warned: this ain't no yo-ho-ho affair, but a serious and Oscar-tipped thriller from Paul Greengrass about the true-life tale of a cargo liner set upon by Somali pirates in 2009. Sorry if the tone so far has been misleading.
Peter Bradshaw will review Captain Phillips around lunchtime today,...

Lionsgate is in advanced negotiations to acquire rights to “Burial Rites,” a movie package that will reteam Jennifer Lawrence with her “Hunger Games” director Gary Ross, an individual familiar with the project has told TheWrap. Based on the novel written by Hannah Kent and published by Little, Brown, “Burial Rites” will find Lawrence playing a woman accused of murder in Iceland in 1829, back when men scoffed at the notion of women committing violent crimes. The story features a potent romantic element that is expected to attract top-tier male talent. Also Read: Jennifer Lawrence to Star in ‘East of Eden,’ ‘Burial.

Exclusive: Two weeks ago when I broke the story that Imagine, Universal, Gary Ross and Jennifer Lawrence teaming on a two-part feature adaptation of John Steinbeck’s East Of Eden, I reported that The Hunger Games trio of Ross, Lawrence and producer Allison Shearmur (a key exec on the film) would come to market with the new Hannah Kent novel Burial Rites. CAA indeed took the book to auction last week, and I’m hearing that it’s likely to shape up as a complete Hunger Games reunion as Lionsgate has started negotiations for the package. The deal isn’t done, but I’m betting that it gets done this week. This comes after Kent got a seven-figure deal for her first novel from Little, Brown. It has gotten great reviews. The book tells the story a young woman accused of murder in Iceland in 1829 and who faces becoming the...
