They direct the show to a bunch of layman's! If you're going that far in the mountains, you better know what you're doing. I grew up in the mountains of Washington state, if idiots go into the woods without knowing what to do, so be it! It's called natural selection! Quit trying to dumb it down so much that everyone can understand! Barely anyone will even try such a feat! Please, direct your episodes towards educated, outdoors people! I'm tired of television dumbing down their shows to appeal to the masses! Your show appeals to many in that have no concept of what it takes to live in the mountains. Please quit directing the show toward people who no desire go outside and have no idea what a real mountaineer is like.

A great show on how to find gold recreationally!

I love how Dave proves you dont have to be an expert gold miner or mountain man to find gold. You CAN find gold with minimal equipment and moderate knowledge easily! Theres a lot of gold left to be had in America. Finding gold is a lot easier than than you might think. Anyone that can fish, hike or go on a simple walk in the woods is capable of finding gold. One of the main points of the show is you dont need thousands of dollars in equipment to get in the game. These are real people getting real gold with minimal impact to the land and wild life. When it comes to recreational gold mining this is a very accurate show.
Stupid, Fake, Scripted - Pure Garbage. Very disappointing!

I have been watching Gold Rush and all of the spinoffs for years. I love the shows. Can't get enough! I'll even watch Todd Hoffman (tho the new show is the worst of them all IMO.) I was stoked to watch the new show with Dave Turin after he 'retired' from mining.
I eagerly started watching the first episode and was immediately turned off by the production style - starting with Dave's overly-hyped up narration. That's not Dave Turin. That's some idiot producer that thinks his personality isn't sufficiently interesting or exciting convincing him to speak in a manner other than how he speaks. I've watched enough hours of Dave Turin's work to understand him and his natural intonation.
Next we segue into a bit about the 'original' hardware store in Placerville, CA. Okay - I can do that bit. Not my favorite, but okay - whatever.
Next is a scripted bunch of 100% FAKE TV where Dave and the owner of the hardware store wander down to the local creek and pull more than $800 worth of gold nuggets out of the bottom of the streambed in less than 30 mins. I don't believe for ONE HALF A SECOND that the nuggets weren't planted for them to "find" for the benefit of "sensational TV".
Completely fake and utterly unbelievable. Very disappointing and NOT the in the category of Gold Rush. Not worthy of the association. It is shocking that Dave's judgment apparently is poor enough to think that this show would be something fans of his previous work would find of interest.

I'm no stranger to prospecting and this show is not that. This is sensationalized to an insane degree.
It shows people finding copious amounts of gold very quickly. This is not the case. Its hours and hours of back breaking work for very little payoff.
I made it halfway through the 2nd episode before i turned it off forever. If you are about to get into this hobby do not use this show as a point of reference because you will be tremendously disappointed.
