Gregg Araki is set to direct Olivia Wilde in his next feature, Black Bear’s provocative thriller “I Want Your Sex.”
The film features an original script penned by Araki and Karley Sciortino which blithely explores desire, domination and fantasy.
When fresh-faced Elliot lands an exciting job for renowned artist, icon and provocateur Erika Tracy (Wilde), his fantasies come true as Erika taps him to become her sexual muse. But Elliot soon finds himself out of his depth as Erika takes him on a journey more profound than he ever could have imagined, into a world of sex, obsession, power, betrayal and murder.
Arlie Day (“To Leslie”) and Mike Page (“The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry”) are casting the picture. The film will be produced by Seth Caplan, a past winner of the John Cassavetes Award at the Film Independent Spirit Awards, alongside Black Bear’s Teddy Schwarzman and Michael Heimler.

“You’ve been making women feel bad about themselves since you were invented,” the hip teen Sasha (Ariana Greenblatt) tells the stereotypical Barbie standing before her. “You represent everything wrong with our culture: sexualized capitalism, unrealistic physical ideals.” Stereotypical Barbie is horrified: “No, no, no, you’re describing something stereotypical,” she insists.
Margot Robbie spent much of Barbie proving why the doll she portrayed wasn’t the sexist object that girls like Sasha see. The Aussie actor has a much more difficult task ahead of her if she’s going to do the same thing in her upcoming project Avengelyne. Everything about Avengelyne screams mindless sex and violence—which is why Robbie is the perfect choice. Hold on, let us explain…

Avengelyne is an American comic book series that, despite the fact that it never became a mainstream work, became a fantasy cult classic title that many fans remember quite dearly. The series was created by Rob Liefeld and Cathy Christian, and focuses on Avengelyne, an angel who has to fight the forces of evil and is one of the most prominent female comic book heroines outside the mainstream universes. Avengelyne #1, the first issue of the series, appeared in May 1995, and the most recent iteration of the comic book ended in 2012. We have recently reported that a film adaptation of the comic is in the works, and we have now received some interesting new info about the project.
We reported earlier that Margot Robbie’s LuckyChap production company acquired the rights to a cinematic adaptation, with Olivia Wilde eyed to direct. Robbie herself was initially attached simply as a producer, but...

It has been a great past year for Margot Robbie after the success of her blockbuster movie Barbie, and now the Australian star is gearing up for a new superhero project that she will reportedly star in. This is not her first stint in a comic book role as she has previously portrayed Harley Quinn in 2016’s Suicide Squad.

Olivia Wilde will direct and Margot Robbie will star in an adaptation of comic book Avengelyne, it’s been announced.
Comic book writer Rob Liefeld’s biggest success is undoubtably Deadpool, which Ryan Reynolds and writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick brought to the screen to huge critical and commercial success – Deadpool And Wolverine, which sees Hugh Jackman reprise his iconic role, will be released in UK cinemas on the 26th July. You can watch the trailer here.
Warner Bros is now very close to closing a deal on another of Liefeld’s comics, Avengelyne. Furthermore, Margot Robbie – as you probably gleaned from the cunning headline to this piece – is circling the lead role.
The synopsis reads as follows:
Avengelyne is an angel who fights the forces of evil and often finds herself face-to-face with demons and monsters. She was the most feared warrior in heaven’s Warhost, having single-handedly broken into Pandemonium,...

We recently got word that a live-action movie based on Rob Liefeld's fantasy/horror comic series Avengelyne was in development, and we have some exciting updates courtesy of Deadline.
As previously reported, the project will be directed by Olivia Wilde (Don't Worry Darling), with LuckyChap, the company Margot Robbie runs with Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara, and Simon Kinberg, on board to produce. Now, we've learned that Warner Bros is negotiating to close a seven-figure film-rights deal for the movie, and Poor Things scribe Tony McNamara has signed on to pen the script.
The trade also confirmed that Robbie is interested in playing the title role, but it sounds like her decision will be script-dependent.
An earlier version of the movie was in the works back in 2013, with former The Mandalorian actress Gina Carano attached to star.

Warner Bros. in Talks to Land ‘Avengelyne’ With Margot Robbie Eyeing to Star, Tony McNamara to Write
The feature adaptation of “Avengelyne” from Olivia Wilde, Margot Robbie and “X-Men” producer Simon Kinberg is being set up at Warner Bros. The studio is close to finalizing a seven-figure film rights deal.
Robbie is eyeing the role of the titular angel who fights the forces of evil and often finds herself face-to-face with demons and monsters. “Deadpool” co-creator Rob Liefeld first brought the comic book character to life in 1995. “Poor Things” scribe Tony McNamara will pen the screenplay.
“This incredibly humbling journey to bring Avengelyne to life onscreen started through my relationship with super-producer Simon Kinberg who told me he had a perfect fit for the material and asked me to trust him,” Liefeld told Variety in an exclusive statement. “Next thing I’m meeting with Margot Robbie and Olivia Wilde and the connection was electric! They told me that they wanted Tony McNamara to write it, and after...

Avengelyne may be flying to Warner Bros., with the studio in early talks to acquire the comic book package that hit earlier this month.
Don’t Worry Darling filmmaker Olivia Wilde is attached to direct the feature, with Barbie team Margot Robbie, Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara of LuckyChap producing. The banner has a first-look deal with Warners, which made the studio the first stop for the package, which has added screenwriter Tony McNamara to the mix. Longtime X-Men producer Simon Kinberg is also producing.
Avengelyne launched in 1995 and centered on a fallen angel cast to Earth. The hero is entrusted to find and protect The One, a person who is the key to protecting humanity from demons and other monsters. Liefeld co-created the character with Cathy Christian and Tony Lobito. Liefeld, meanwhile, has Deadpool & Wolverine due out in July from Marvel Studios.

This year alone, new films in the Transformers and The Mummy series are set to launch a pair of new cinematic universes. And plans are now afoot for another, with Rob Liefeld’s Extreme Universe comics set to inspire, well, a cinematic universe of their own. Presumably it won’t be called the Extreme Universe Cinematic Universe, but we’ll wait and see on that.
This particular film universe is being overseen by producer Graham King and writer/producer Akiva Goldsman, and between them, they’re going to be bringing characters such as Bloodstrike, Bloodwulf, Re-Gex and Kaboom to the big screen (Youngblood and Avengelyne are not included in the deal, apparently, but over 100 different characters are). Writer/director Akiva Goldsman certainly seems to be a busy man these days. Last we heard, Goldsman was heading up the ambitious writers room over at Paramount for the Transformers flick. Although it’s too early to say at this point, the obvious hope is that when all said and done, those films will have a lot more going for them than just mere spectacle. While that’s likely still keeping him busy, that’s not keeping Goldsman from pursuing other big ideas.
Deadline is reporting that Paramount has film rights for a comic called Avengelyne from Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld. The film is set to be produced by Goldsman, who is also looking to potentially direct. Goldsman is currently searching for a screenwriter for this new flick, which is being coined as John Wick with a fallen angel.

Deadpool was a big hit for Fox earlier this year, thanks in part to the extremely dedicated comic-book fans that are already accustomed to buying everything with his face on it. Naturally, Hollywood has now decided to look into Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld to see if he has done anything else with a similarly enduring popularity, even though most comic-book fans can probably agree that he hasn’t. Still, Deadline is reporting that Paramount is picking up the rights to Avengelyne, a Liefeld and Cathy Christian comic from the ’90s about a fallen angel who battles demons on Earth while wearing as little clothing as possible. It is a ’90s Rob Liefeld comic, after all.

Paramount Pictures has picked up the film rights to Deadpool creator Rob Liefled's comic book character Avengelyne. The studio has hired Academy Award-winning writer Akiva Goldsman to produce the film and possibly direct it.
