Netflix recently unveiled its latest slate of originals from the continent that was busy with Nigerian projects (including a buzzy movie premiering in Toronto) just days after Amazon touted its first two Nigerian originals. But while industry eyes may be on activity within the country, Nollywood is about to have a milestone moment in U.K. cinemas.

Hanan Townshend might be best known at the moment for his work with Terrence Malick. He contributed material to "The Tree Of Life," before being promoted to the main gig of scoring the director's "To The Wonder," his upcoming "Knight Of Cups," as well as the Malick-produced "The Better Angels." That certainly opened some doors for Townshend, who scored the upcoming wartime drama "Echoes Of War," and today we have exclusive preview of three tunes from the soundtrack. Read More: Hanan Townshend Reunites With Terrence Malick To Score 'Knight Of Cups' James Badge Dale, Maika Monroe, Ethan Embry, and William Forsythe star in the Kane Senes-written and directed movie that follows a soldier who returns home to Texas haunted by the Civil War, only to spark up a conflict between his family and a cattle rancher neighbor. Read More: Arc Entertainment Acquires Civil War Thriller 'Echoes Of War' It was only a matter of time before the success of the Indie horror little-engine-that-could "It Follows" would start propelling its star, Maika Monroe, to the top. And while "Echoes of War," the new Civil War film from director Kane Senes, may be a tinier drama, it may also be the first sign of big things to come for the actress. "Echoes of War" follows a soldier, Wade, played by James Badge Dale, who returns to his quiet country home only for that peace to be uprooted by an oppressive cattle rancher harassing his family at every turn. Monroe plays Wade's niece, Abigail. "Echoes of War" premieres at the Dallas Film Festival before coming to theaters May 15. We’ve been delighted in the last few years to see veteran character actor James Badge Dale break out to bigger and better things. The actor’s been a familiar face for a while thanks to “The Departed” and “The Pacific,” but racked up a string of high-profile credits and scene-stealing performances in things like “Shame,” “The Grey,” “Flight,” “Iron Man 3,” “The Lone Ranger” and “Parkland,” and finally looks to be graduating to lead roles, with horror-actioner “Spectral” due in 2016. Read More: The Breakout Performances of 2012 First up though is something smaller in scale, as Badge Dale takes the lead in indie Civil War drama “Echoes Of War,” which hits theaters next month. Written and directed by Australian helmer Kane Senes, it sees the actor play a haunted soldier who returns home to Texas from the conflict, only to spark up a conflict between his family and a cattle rancher neighbor.

It’s safe to say that James Badge Dale had a good 2013, notching roles in three big films (Iron Man 3, World War Z and The Lone Ranger), two of which turned out to be big successes at the box office. 2014 may not be as notable, but he is at least in talks to star in Legendary’s supernatural thriller Spectral.Ads man Nic Mathieu is hoping this will turn out to be his film directorial debut, with the concept described as a ghostly take on Black Hawk Down. It apparently sees New York infested with supernatural creatures and a specially trained team sent in to deal with the problem. Ian Fried wrote the original pitch, though George Nolfi and John Gatins have crafted the actual script. It’s been in development for a while, but Legendary starting talks with Dale suggests it’s finally getting close to production.Dale...

Don’t bother trying to convince James Badge Dale that there’s a cabal of Badge-ers out there, admirers from his days on 24 and HBO’s The Pacific who are committed to finally making him a household name. The 35-year-old New Yorker may have had notable supporting turns in three big summer movies, but he’s not one to get worked up over such chatter. “People chirp in your ears a lot,” he says. “They tell you, ‘This is going to do this for you, this is going to do that for you.’ I’ve had 10 years of that filtered into my head.
