Enjoy the ride, folks
italianmeatball10 March 2024
The negative reviews for this season are just ludicrous. Larry is still Larry. The call backs are great. He's not mailing it in. He's going out swinging. I view this show in eras. There were the pre Leon years, which admittedly, I need to circle back and watch. There's the middle Leon years before the long break. And there's the current final era. We all have our favorite episodes, seasons, characters, etc...

If you call yourself a fan of this show, and you love Larry David, and you can't find any of these episodes funny, then I can't help you. The writing is sharp. The byplay between Larry, Leon, Jeff, Susie, Ted, Freddy, and the late great Ricard Lewis is still a joy to watch.

Enjoy this, folks. Only 5 left.

Solid Mid season ep
mgalercail4 March 2024
Ok so the reviewers that are saying this isn't the same show should really calm down.

Curb has always been a strong and consistent show. I know that the new way is being shot makes it seem like a different format, but they are being filmed with a better camera. That's all folks. Larry is still in control and brings us fresh stories with today's climate. The humor is still there. It's not watered down. Nor is it considered PC.

Larry and company are as funny and strong as ever. This season is no exception. We have the continuing saga of how Larry deals with Irma; Played to perfection by Ullman.

Leon as always being the solid support and advice guru for Larry. His long standing Rivalry with Danson and the best hostile interactions on the show.

Vince Vaughn fits right in his world with a great natural performance. A great addition to the cast in these recent years.

It's wonderful to see the great Richard Lewis (RIP) make another appearance doing standup at AA. A gentle swan song for his long running appearances on curb.

Can't get enough of Susie's crazy outfits, just getting more outrageous each time.

Lookin forward to seeing the remainder of the episodes. Something tells me we will get a solid finale.

Larry David could do more seasons and keep the show about as great as it started!
ThomasJ_91205 March 2024
I love how the Genius of Larry David has gone on for this long! So far this season has been great and fits he times and culture we live in . It's going to be sad after this season ends but you never know Larry Could get bored and do another season in a few years, yes he says it's definitely the final season but than again he has a lifetime contract to do another season whenever he wants with HBO, Probably not likely but you never know... if not thos show has a lot of rewatch value so it'll be around for generations to come! Curb your your enthusiasm is definitely in the top best shows ever in my opinion and I'm sure a lot of other people's too.

Fish Stuck: A Truly Legendary Episode of Curb
jt_h136 March 2024
This should go down as a Top 5 episode of all time to many. Rest in Peace to the legendary Richard Lewis.

From the incredible one liners to the multiple layers of storylines all converging to one of the funniest endings of all time, this is vintage Larry David. The ending as well as its lead up alludes to Larry's mortality and how he might start to think about how he might be remembered once his time comes. Although he tries to write his own narrative, and in this season at least, tries to do good by sticking with a woman he hates, eventually his Larryism is just inevitable.

To me this episode is a great example of the spirit of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" - people projecting false enthusiasm to suggest that they are better than others. In this season, even Larry does it (Voters Rights Advocate; Repulsive Addict Helper). Yet in the end, we are who we are, and you can go ahead and write that in stone.

Curb Your Regurgitation.

Warning: Spoilers
Keep wanting to love CYE in its final season. Especially with the death of Richard Lewis (whose passing was rightfully acknowledged immediately).

But it's not so much a self-referential homage as lazy scripting (or ad-libbing following the general narrative, since the show is unscripted.)

The pen gift (writes upside down, said Jack Klompus).

The jacket gift (Chet's Shirt) Acting badly to get out of a relationship ("how so you handle a Hungry Man? The ManHandler!") The spite brick (as if a personal attack would be allowed to live forever) and the Anonymous Donor.

Groat's Disease (Kramer - but at least it's not Lupus. God, is it LUPUS?)

Loved this show in the past. But repeated callbacks instead of any new direction is what? No good?

Best of the season, that's not saying much
darryl-johnson4 March 2024
Episode five has been the best episode of the season which is sad because it was simply below mediocre.

Richard Lewis was in this episode and the show paid tribute to him with a picture card before the episode began which had his name, birth year and 2024.

Rest in peace, Mr. Lewis.

The same issues crop up in this episode however some of the 'CYE' comedic comedy shines brightly. Larry's new lawyer (Sean Hayes) offered some new energy and genuine laughs. Vince Vaughn's new girlfriend stole a few scenes of her own (especially when she puts her hand to her mouth- not much off a spoiler but you will know it when you see it). The lawyer's husband also was a refreshing character with some good lines.

Job Smoove's character overstayed his welcome 3 seasons ago... Trying to crowbar him in bad been a major mistake. He's not funny anymore.

The Tracey Ullman character can go also- nothing funny about her. 'CYA' could drop both characters (Larry takes them on a trip and they fall into a volcano - problem solved). Keep the new characters and finish off the season.

Weakest of the Season and Probably the Whole Show
MamadNobari974 March 2024
In contrast to the last two episodes we've had, this wasn't nearly as funny and it was overall meh. I only laughed like two or three times in total. That's really bad for a 40-minute episode, especially from my favorite comedy ever where I die from laughter every other episode.

I've noticed that usually the longer the episodes are, the more scripted and unfunnier they get. The funniest scene for me was Minnie putting her hand over her mouth, but that's about it, and the other two or three times I laughed was from Larry David yelling and swearing, which shouldn't be the only funny thing that happens in the show.

The plotlines just weren't as interesting or clever either. I thought that Minnie was gonna steal the script and become famous herself, but it didn't happen. I was also surprised they didn't connect Minnie to Leon's Tinkerbell fetish because I was sure that was gonna happen, but didn't.

And even though in the way of old Curb everything came together at the end and they all got connected, it was still underwhelming and not funny, because the plotlines themselves weren't really funny.

And the way Larry's girlfriend stumbled upon Minnie was just so forced and contrived and wasn't natural at all, especially the dialogue that led them to their realization.

Overall, a very weak and forgettable episode with the least amount of laughs I can remember, at least for this season so far. Even the first episode was funnier. And the storylines aren't as clever or engaging at all and felt like a really soft PG-13 and inoffensive version of Curb.

Fish Stuck

Warning: Spoilers
The only funny bit in the whole episode was the banter between Larry and the guy at the Chinese restaurant over the fish, and you could argue we shouldn't be laughing at it as it was just making fun of his accent.

But Sean Hayes and Dan Levy are the absolute worse, and casting both of them as a couple here was horrible. Painful to watch.

This show seems to have absolutely no direction this season. I get that the finale will involve a trial, coming full circle for Larry on his other show, but this is just not funny. And why are these episodes so long? I don't get it when half of these scenes could easily be cut.
