- TriviaStacy and Candace are going to watch a horror movie featuring a girl with long hair draped over her face which resembles the ghost girl from the movie The Ring (2002). Ironically, the actress who played the ghost girl, Daveigh Chase, was well known as the voice of Lilo another Disney creation, Lilo & Stitch (2002).
- Quotes
Isabella Garcia-Shapiro: Hi Phineas what'cha doing? You're not planning something for my birthday are you?
Phineas Flynn: [tries to hide his plans] Don't look, don't look, don't look, nothing to see here!
Isabella Garcia-Shapiro: Phineas! But all I really want for my birthday is...
Phineas Flynn: [interrupting her] Don't ruin the surprise!
[laughs nervously]
Phineas Flynn: Buford get her out of here
Buford Van Stomm: You got it!
Isabella Garcia-Shapiro: But what I really...
[screams as Buford throws a burlap sack over her and carries her away]
Buford Van Stomm: [as he carries Isabella in the sack while she squirms inside] I've carried a lot of squirming bags in my time, but this is the first time I knew who was in it
[unties the sack and lets Isabella out]
There are many terrific episodes of 'Phineas and Ferb'. "Happy Birthday Isabella" is one of those. There is also a small handful of episodes that didn't do much for me, and "La Candace-Cabra" while watchable is one of those. Season 4 was a solid season with many great episodes, though lacked the first two seasons' creativity on the whole, but "La Candace-Cabra"/"Happy Birthday Isabella" is not the season at its best. Definitely still worth seeing though, especially for the latter.
A lot to like about both. The animation is great with lots of rich colours. The music is dynamic and the theme song continue to be very catchy. Enough of the writing is funny and smart, especially from Doofenschmirtz. Did enjoy Doofenschmirtz's subplots in both, especially in the more creative one in "Happy Birthday Isabella". The outcomes are not surprising by all means, but still nicely executed.
Had no issues with the characters, or the character interactions. Doofenschmirtz and ever adorable, funny and resourceful Perry and the sweet one between Phineas and Isabella. The voice acting is great.
"La Candace-Cabra's" main plot is rather lacking though, it is too thin and predictable, which affects the pacing, with not much exciting happening. There is not much variation with Candace's character and not all the humour lands, lacking the usual wit and smartness.
Too much of Candace's character writing is repetitive and she is on the annoying side here.
On the whole, loved one episode but was very mixed on the other. 7/10.
