Engrossing making of documentary
Woodyanders16 December 2013
Warning: Spoilers
This 62 minute long documentary offers a compelling and exhaustive chronicle on the making of the indie horror sleeper "Jacob." Among the people interviewed are writer/director Larry Wade Carrell, actresses Grace Powell and Krystn Caldwell, composer Iain Kelso, producer Nick Nicholson, and actors Dylan Horne, Leo Wheeler, Jeremy James Douglas Norton, Joe Grisaffi, and Parrish Randall. Topics covered include the table reading, how the practical make-up f/x were done, using the titular car from John Carpenter's "Christine," the thrill of working with seasoned veterans James Hampton and Michael Biehn (the story on how Biehn wound up being cast in the movie is absolutely hilarious!), composing the score, and the exceptional quality of the cinematography. Moreover, we also learn that Carrell first met Powell on the set of a PSA TV spot, the role of Edith was specifically written for Caldwell to play, and Wheeler didn't have to audition for the part of Sheriff Andy. Recommended viewing for fans of this film.
