One Mohanlal Film Serves As A Strong Script For Damini 2 Led By Sunny Deol (Picture Credit: Facebook & IMDb)
Last year, we saw Sunny Deol making a roaring comeback with Gadar 2 and ripping the box office apart with some jaw-dropping numbers. Now, we reimagine him wearing that lawyer’s uniform and bringing back his cult character of advocate Govind Srivastava on the big screen. Yes, you guessed it right! We’re talking about his cult crime drama, Damini. We feel that Damini 2 is highly possible, and even the script is ready if someone decides to remake Mohanlal’s recent court drama.
For those who don’t know, Damini was released in 1993 and was a huge success at the Indian box office. Apart from commercial success, the film also tasted solid critical success, and over the years, it became a cult classic. The craze of its dialogues and scenes is still there,...

When Vijayamohan, played by Mohanlal, was introduced in Neru (Truth), my brain immediately picked and played an incredibly funny Key & Peele sketch in my mind. That sketch, “Retired Military Specialist,” sums up the cliched character arc of every maverick male lead. It goes like this: An invincible professional who refuses to follow the regular ways, hailed as the next biggest star in his domain, botches a job. Abandoned by his peers, he now lives a hermit life. Then, a new impossible job appears, and there are no worthy takers. It would take some persuasion from the side-kicks – who always lament about how good he was – for him to take up the job.
In Jeethu Joseph’s Neru, Vijayamohan exactly fits the above description. Meanwhile, his nemesis, the powerful Supreme Court lawyer Rajasekharan, brilliantly played by Siddique, is an archetype villain. But these character traits don’t confine the film to...

Neru Movie Review Rating:
Genre: Drama
Star Cast: Mohanlal, Priyamani, Anaswara Rajan, Siddique, Jagadish, Ganesh Kumar, Sankar Induchoodan, Sreedhanya, Santhi Mayadevi
Director: Jeethu Joseph
Producer: Antony Perumbavoor
Writer: Santhi Mayadevi, Jeethu Joseph
Neru Movie Review(Photo Credit –IMDb)
What’s Good: Mohanlal’s versatile performance as Advocate Vijayamohan anchors the movie, showcasing commendable preparation and immersion in the character. The initial half captivates with compelling courtroom scenes, notably Siddique’s portrayal of the defense lawyer.
What’s Bad: The film needs to improve in maintaining balance, with exaggerated situations and an unnecessarily extended latter portion. Some scenes feel overly dramatic and need more authenticity, deviating from the genuine storytelling expected in Malayalam films.
Loo Break: Consider a loo break during the scene where Jagadish, portraying the victim’s father, goes around lawyers to seek representation for his daughter in court.
Watch or Not?: While the acting is commendable, ‘Neru...

The honourable Kerala High Court refused to stay the release of the Mohanlal-starrer ‘Neru’, all set to be released tomorrow. Though the stay was not granted, the Court directed to issue notice to the respondents including the Central government, director-cum-writer Jeethu Joseph and co-writer advocate Santhi Mayadevi.
The court’s ruling comes in response to Deepu K Unni plea seeking a stay alleging that the script for the movie was plagiarised from a screenplay that he had written.
Unni claimed that he had put together a script about an “emotional family drama”, featuring a court story with a woman and a male lawyer as the protagonists, which was later sent to the makers of ‘Neru’.
Unni further pointed out that he had met Joseph and Mayadevi numerous times to discuss the script and he was told by Joseph, that his next film would feature this script.

Superstar Mohanlal is gearing up for his next film ‘Neru’, a legal drama. Dressed up as an experienced lawyer, the poster looks bleak and grounded, with the actor really selling his avatar. A bleak kind of legal drama, the narrative revolves around the actor taking the reins of delivering justice himself while fighting the very system which he works under.
The movie was confirmed to be releasing sometime this year, though its release date was unknown with some even speculating that the film will not be released before 2024. However, back in early November, the film’s release date was confirmed as December 21.
Unveiling the poster of himself, Mohanlal wrote: “#’Neru’ Official Poster. Releasing worldwide on December 21st!”
The film will be directed by the veteran and highly acclaimed director Jeethu Joseph who had also directed Mohanlal’s films ‘Drishyam’, and ‘Drishyam 2’ which were later remade in Hindi as well...
