Shadowhunters may have come to a bittersweet conclusion, but another one of its actors had landed a new TV role.
Dominic Sherwood, who played Jace on the recently canceled Freeform drama, has joined the cast of Showtime's Penny Dreadful: City of Angels.
He is one of six new additions, joining the series alongside Adam Rodriguez, Michael Gladis, Lorenza Izzo, Thomas Kretschman, and Ethan Peck.
The new series is set in 1938 Los Angeles, and focuses on Det. Tiago Vega (Daniel Zovatto), who becomes embroiled in an epic story following a murder that shocks the city.
It quickly paves the way for Tiago and his family “grappling with powerful forces that threaten to tear them apart,” according to the official logline.

“Penny Dreadful: City of Angels” is rounding out its cast with the addition of six new actors.
Michael Gladis has joined the show as a series regular, while Lorenza Izzo, Adam Rodriguez, Thomas Kretschmann, and Dominic Sherwood will appear in recurring roles. Ethan Peck will guest star in multiple episodes. The six join previously announced cast members Natalie Dormer, Daniel Zovatto, Kerry Bishé, Adriana Barraza, Rory Kinnear, Jessica Garza, Johnathan Nieves, Nathan Lane, Amy Madigan, Brent Spiner, and Lin Shaye.
Described as a spiritual descendant of the original “Penny Dreadful,” the new series opens in 1938 Los Angeles. When a grisly murder shocks the city, Detective Tiago Vega (Zovatto) is embroiled in a story that reflects the history of Los Angeles: from the building of the city’s first freeways and its deep traditions of Mexican-American folklore, to the dangerous espionage actions of the Third Reich and the rise of radio evangelism.

2017-10-04T06:36:33-07:00Can Hulu Take Down Netflix?
Want to stream This Is Us, Will & Grace or 30 Rock? Better sign up for a Hulu subscription, because your Netflix account isn't going to deliver those shows to you. NBC recently signed a deal to bring its biggest series to Hulu instead of Netflix. It's a sign that content creators are increasingly looking beyond Netflix for a place to put their shows. Add to that the fact that Hulu's The Handmaid's Tale just became the first streamer original series to win a Best Drama Emmy, and you've got a real indication that Netflix's dominance of the streaming world may be coming to an end.

Killing Gunther Trailer The first movie trailer for Killing Gunther (2017) from Saban Films. Alrighty, before I get rolling too far into this new drama, I should note a couple of things and provide some tiny context. First, I saw “Kong: Skull Island“ twice in theaters, which should be an indication of how much I enjoyed Jordan Vogt-Roberts‘ monster movie. Secondly, I am aware we post Honest Trailers on occasion, which does their own nitpicky take down of movies. However, they’re clever, but admittedly the videos play much better when film in question is truly terrible, versus just kind of middling.

Britney Spears can count DeMario Jackson as one of her many admirers.
Prior to his appearance on Rachel Lindsay‘s season 13 of The Bachelorette this spring, and years before he found himself at the center of the Bachelor in Paradise season 4 controversy with fellow contestant Corinne Olympios earlier this summer, Jackson publicly offered his number to Spears.
On an evening in 2008, Jackson — he was in his early 20s at the time — was in the same parking lot as Spears, who was swarmed by paparazzi, and he took the opportunity to offer her his digits.

Long before DeMario Jackson was at the center of a Bachelor in Paradise scandal or vying for Rachel Lindsay's heart, he was desperately trying to give Britney Spears his number. Nine years ago, the Bachelorette star was a self described "up-and-coming actor" who found himself in the same parking lot as the pop icon. With a crowd of cameras around, Jackson made his move, although Britney didn't exactly swoon. "Hey—real talk. Take down my number. Take down my number," he shouted out to the songstress as she was swarmed with paparazzi. "My name's DeMario Jackson. I'm an up-and-coming actor. I want to be like you. Granted, there is a ton of content options in this era of Peak TV, but, if you haven’t caught up with Justin Simien’s “Dear White People” on Netflix, you are truly missing out.
The Lionsgate Television produced adaptation of Simien’s critically lauded 2014 film follows the storylines of a number of African-American students at a predominantly white, pseudo Ivy League school. The first season begins with the college’s not-so funny humor magazine holding a blackface party, which doesn’t sit well with a good chunk of the student body.

Angelina Jolie has a strong connection with Cambodia after being in the country and filming “Tomb Raider,” volunteering for the U.N. refugee agency, Unhcr, and adopting her first son, Maddox, from a Battambang orphanage.
Now, the actress-turned-director’s next directorial feat is “First They Killed My Father,” a film based on Cambodian human rights activist Loung Ung’s memoir “First They Killed My Father: A Daughter of Cambodia Remembers.” Ahead of its world premiere in Siem Reap on February 18, the first look at the project has been shared online.
The movie, co-written by Ung and Jolie, tells the true story of the devastating events that happened in Cambodia by the Khmer Rouge communist party in the 1970s, which killed 2 million people including Ung’s parents and two sisters.
“The heart of it is Loung’s story, it’s the story of a war through the eyes of a child,...

General Hospital is giving us a brand-new Felicia storyline as she is the secret weapon Bobbie brought in to find out what is going on with Nelle. We know Bobbie isn’t impressed, and that she’s picked up on Nelle’s extensive knowledge of her family. She seems to realize she’s not all that ‘new’ in town with her substantial knowledge of everyone’s lives and history, and Bobbie’s suspicions were peaked when she realized this woman knows so much. No one does that much research without a motive, so she called in Felicia to figure it out and bring Nelle down. It’s

If there is one thing all true Star Wars fans can agree on is that the Force works in mysterious ways for the most part. With Episode VIII just a little over a year away it is that time to start speculating what the movie will entail. After the highly successful release of The Force Awakens last year the biggest complaint from old school Star Wars fans was that it too closely resembled the original trilogy along with the short amount of time Luke was in the film. With so many similarities between The Force Awakens and the original trilogy the similarities between Luke Skywalker and Obi Wan Kenobi seems to be the last piece to connect the new trilogy to the old. The journey that we have seen Luke Skywalker take has been molded from his first mentor. With Luke taking on a more dominant role in Episode VIII...

Emotional support dogs get all the glory. We get it, they’re funny and cute. But did you know that there are emotional support animals of all stripes? Including, for instance, turkeys.
Meet Easter. The bird was found as a chick by some friends of Jodie Smalley on — you guessed it — Easter Day. They brought the bird to her and she raised it to a healthy adult, who now functions as Smalley’s support animal.
“Easter came to me as a tiny poult at an emotionally difficult time in my life being in a mentally abusive and failing marriage,” Smalley explains on her Facebook page.

Director Antoine Fuqua was provided with a surprising gift when he began making his contemporary remake of “The Magnificent Seven”: Seven themes composed by the late Oscar-winning composer James Horner (“Titanic”), who died last year in a plane crash. Horner didn’t live long enough to screen any footage, but he read the script and provided the backbone of the score for Fuqua. Indeed, after collaborating on “Southpaw” together, Horner convinced the director to make “The Magnificent Seven” when he was ambivalent about the project and worried about financing.
Horner, in fact, was on such a steady ascent before his fatal crash (including Mel Gibson’s “Hacksaw Ridge” and “The Great Wall”), that he discussed greater collaboration with producer-composer-arranger Simon Franglen (the Grammy-winning “My Heart Will Go On” from “Titanic”). They also worked together on the gritty, electronic-tinged “Southpaw,” and Franglen later arranged “Skyfall” and “Spectre” for composer Thomas Newman.

After portraying Edward Snowden, Joseph Gordon-Levitt believes Snowden is a different kind of patriot.
“He really was doing what he did out of a sincere love for his country and the principles that the country is founded on,” Gordon-Levitt said during a press conference for Oliver Stone’s “Snowden” at the Toronto International Film Festival Saturday.
“There’s the kind of patriotism where you’re just allegiant to your country no matter what and you don’t ask any questions, but there’s another kind of patriotism, and that is what I really wanted to show in this character, which is the kind of patriotism that he grows into over the course of the nine years,” Gordon-Levitt said.

Nobody owns Oliver Stone. I’ve talked with this filmmaker for decades, and he’s consistent to a fault. The Oscar-winning writer-director (“Platoon,” “JFK,” “Wall Street”) has always gone his own way. If there’s an impediment, he’ll find a way around it. Hell, he’ll even con the El Salvador government to give him army soldiers for a movie critical of El Salvador.
Which is one reason why Stone met with Nsa whistleblower Edward Snowden in Moscow, not once, or twice, but nine times. Stone will tell you: You can’t trust the United States government. You can’t trust the Nsa, CIA, or FBI. You can’t trust the Hollywood studios, because those are corporations run by lawyers. And you certainly can’t trust the media.

Taylor Swift may not have attended the MTV Video Music Awards, but she's still attending to very important matters - namely, jury duty. While serving her civic duty in Nashville, Tennessee, Swift took a selfie with a fellow juror (and fan), who officially had the best time anyone has ever had on jury duty. Twitter user Madison Lewis posted the photo of her mom and Swift beaming, writing, "My mom just casually has jury duty with Taylor Swift!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" And all 16 exclamation points are totally justified in this instance. Lewis tells People that Swift, 26, was very friendly with the fellow jurors - her mom included.

The MTV Video Music Awards are basically Kanye West's Super Bowl. Given the stage during the awards show (where he was introducing the music video for his song "Fade"), West took a few minutes to talk about stuff, as is his way. While he didn't elaborate on his 2020 presidential platform - he announced his candidacy during last year's VMAs - he did address the controversy surrounding his song "Famous," his love for Beyoncé (and Taylor Swift) and the future. Here are the 11 most Kanye quotes from Kanye's rant. 1. On his identity: "I am Kanye West. That feels really great to say,...

Kanye West just delivered another unforgettable speech at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards. West, 39 - who is nominated for two VMAs - debuted his new music video for "Fade" and addressed his ongoing controversy with Taylor Swift in front of the audience, which included wife Kim Kardashian West, on Sunday. "Later tonight, 'Famous' might lose to Beyonce, but I can't be mad," he said, poking fun at his 2009 interruption of Swift's speech at the annual awards show. With a big smile on his face, West said his "Famous" music video was "an expression of our fame right now ... the audacity...

Deciding to rely on your flight or fight instinct is a powerful decision people must instantly make when they’re unexpectedly met with a dangerous conflict.
