Det. Tutuola (Ice-T) says "Like Father Geoghan or Sandusky". Father Geoghan was an American serial child rapist and Catholic priest, assigned to parishes in the Archdiocese of Boston in Massachusetts. He was reassigned to several parish posts involving interaction with children, even after receiving treatment for pedophilia. The abusive Geoghan was moved from parish to parish over the years. Father Geoghan was eventually convicted of sexual abuse and sentenced in 2002 to nine to ten years in a maximum security prison. Less than a year later, he was murdered by another inmate. The Boston Globe's coverage of Geoghan's abuse opened the door for public knowledge of the sexual abuse scandal in the Catholic archdiocese of Boston, and Catholic churches nationwide in general. This coverage is a key plot element of the film Spotlight (2015). Jerry Sandusky is an American convicted serial child molester and retired college football coach. In 2011, following a two-year grand jury investigation, Sandusky was arrested and charged with 52 counts of sexual abuse of young boys over a 15-year period from 1994 to 2009. Officials purportedly failed to notify law enforcement after learning about some of these incidents at the time. He was sentenced to 30 to 60 years in prison. Sandusky has been incarcerated in the Pennsylvania prison system since October 31, 2012.
Mike Tyson (Reggie Rhodes) plays a sex abuse victim. His casting was met with some controversy, as in real-life, Tyson was convicted of raping beauty pageant contestant Desiree Washington on February 10, 1992, and served three years in prison.
