- Mary Margaret Blanchard: How do you do it?
- Mr. Gold: Do what?
- Mary Margaret Blanchard: Live with yourself, knowing all the bad things you've done.
- Mr. Gold: Well, you tell yourself you did the right thing. And if you say it often enough, one day you might actually believe it.
- Mr. Gold: Cora was dangerous because she didn't have a heart. Regina's even more dangerous because she does.
- [Storybrooke, day 1]
- Archie Hopper: Morning, Madam Mayor.
- Regina Mills: Good morning, Crick... Dr. Hopper.
- Archie Hopper: Beautiful day, isn't it?
- Regina Mills: Yes. Yes, it is.
- Mary Margaret Blanchard: Kill me.
- Regina Mills: What?
- Mary Margaret Blanchard: Regina, we have been fighting for so long. It's cost us so much. It has to end before anyone else dies. So, please... just do it.
- Regina Mills: [shakes her head] Henry would never forgive me. But you know what my problem is? I never learn from my mistakes.
- [and she rips Mary Margaret's heart out...]
- Regina Mills: [showing Mary Margaret a man in a sickbed] Tell me. Do you know this man?
- Mary Margaret Blanchard: [takes a long look at David] No... Why? Who is he?
- Regina Mills: He's a John Doe, a coma patient. No one's claimed him.
- Mary Margaret Blanchard: [romantically hopeful] Maybe someday he'll wake up; maybe someone who loves him will find him.
- Regina Mills: That would be nice for him. But I wouldn't count on it.
- [Regina has detected a black spot in Mary Margaret's heart]
- Regina Mills: Once you blacken your heart, it only grows darker... and darker. Trust me, I know.
- Mary Margaret Blanchard: So crush it. Do it! Crush it! Get it over with.
- Regina Mills: And put you out of your misery? I don't need to destroy you, you're doing it to yourself. And along the way, you'll bring down that perfect little family you fought so hard to reunite. And then Henry will be mine.
- Mary Margaret Blanchard: [in tears] Please kill me. Please, just kill me.
- Regina Mills: [cheerful] You see, I *can* have everything...
- [she puts Mary Margaret's heart back in place]
- Regina Mills: Thanks to you. Now get off my porch!
- Henry Mills: "Extra everything"?
- Neal Cassady: What?
- Henry Mills: You think I don't know a bribe when I see one?
- [in 1983, Kurt and Owen arrive in a little town in Maine]
- Sheriff Graham: You need some help? You two look lost.
- Kurt Flynn: Who are you? What is this place?
- Sheriff Graham: Name's Graham. I'm the sheriff. Welcome to Storybrooke.
- Regina Mills: [referring to Owen] Whose child is this? Is he yours?
- Marco: Mine? No. I was never so lucky.
- Regina Mills: I don't like surprises, Sheriff. I find them threatening. And do you know what happens when I feel threatened? Bad things.
- [Storybrooke, present day]
- Mr. Gold: Why don't you just give up this obsession with vengeance? You know it can never make you happy.
- Regina Mills: Yes, it will.
- Mr. Gold: You had a whole curse worth of vengeance, and what did it get you? A gaping hole in your heart.
- Regina Mills: That was your curse.
- Mr. Gold: Which you cast. Still haven't learned your lesson, have you?
- Regina Mills: What lesson?
- Mr. Gold: The same one your mother learned a long time ago. You can't have everything. She wanted power, ripped out her own heart to get it. You want vengeance? Henry's the price you'll pay.
- Regina Mills: I was supposed to be happy here.
- Mr. Gold: Forgive me, but, um, you're the Mayor. You're the most powerful woman in the town. What is there to be unhappy about?
- Regina Mills: Everyone in this town does exactly what I want them to!
- Mr. Gold: [Smiles] And that's a problem?
- Regina Mills: Well, they do it because they have to, not because they want to. It's not real.
- [Henry tries to rid Storybrooke of magic, to stop Regina from casting a curse]
- Emma Swan: Magic isn't the problem, kid. It's her.
- Henry Mills: It's not just her. It's everyone. Look what magic did to Mary Margaret. Look at what it did to you. It's ruining everything. It makes good people do terrible things.
- Emma Swan: And bad people.
- Owen: All the kids at my school treat me weird now.
- Regina Mills: Because of what happened to your mother?
- Owen: [nods] Nobody gets it. It's like...
- Regina Mills: There's a piece of your heart missing.
- Regina Mills: I will have my son, and I will have my vengeance. I will find a way to have everything.
- Mr. Gold: Regina. She's planning to strike back - against your mother.
- Henry Mills: What is she gonna do to her?
- Mr. Gold: Oh, she didn't say.
- David Nolan: No. You don't get to come in here and just drop a bomb like that. You're gonna figure this out. And you're gonna help us.
- Mr. Gold: And why should I? D
- David Nolan: Because aside from us being family now, Mary Margaret saved your life. Now you owe her a debt. And you always pay your debts, don't you?
- Mr. Gold: It's the curse of the empty-hearted.
- Emma Swan: What the hell does that do?
- Mr. Gold: In theory, it has the power to make someone love you.
- Emma Swan: Doesn't that break magic laws? You can't bring back to life, you can't force someone to love you.
- Mr. Gold: This particular spell can make someone think they love you. And if you're as desperate for love as Regina appears to be, you just might believe it.
- Neal Cassady: [about Henry going to New York] Went good, he said yes.
- Emma Swan: Seriously?
- Neal Cassady: Yeah, he's in the bathroom right now. I'm just gunna go home and pack. Not bad for day three as a dad if I do say so myself.
- Emma Swan: Wait, where's his backpack?
- Neal Cassady: I don't know, he took it with him.
- Emma Swan: To the bathroom? Did you really fall for that? He's *your* son.
