CBS’ hit sitcom Ghosts continues to delight fans, but the subject matter grew heavy on Thursday, April 18. While fans were thrilled to see Flower return, more surprises were in store. Leading up to the episode, fans of the series had already learned how most of the ghosts died, and now we’ve learned Hetty’s cause of death. That leaves just one ghost with an unknown death.
Hetty’s cause of death has been revealed
Hetty, the robber baroness who controls Woodstone Mansion, has been an important character since the series’ inception, but her death remained a mystery until recently. Earlier in the series, fans learned that Hetty’s diabolic husband, Elias, died when he was trapped inside a vault. Still, Hetty never spoke of her own demise.

While it can sometimes be difficult to separate one gaming year from another when we try to recall them from memory, the fact of the matter is that some years are significantly better than others. Indeed, it can sometimes feel…strange to realize that a handful of years played host to a stunning collection of some of the absolute best games ever made.
Before we get into our picks for the best years in video game history, though, let’s take a look at some of the criteria I used to determine the selections and rankings you’ll find on this list:
The number of quality games released in a given year was the biggest determining factor when it came to both the years they were selected and where they are ranked. Simply put, the more great games released in a particular year, the better. The historical significance of the...

Martin Scorsese has long been interested in crime stories. His second feature film, 1972's "Boxcar Bertha," involves a group of bank thieves and freewheeling fugitives. His most recent feature, "Killers of the Flower Moon," made 51 years later, is about the very real organized murders of multiple Osage millionaires at the instruction of William King Hale in Oklahoma in the 1920s. Those who are only passingly familiar with Scorsese's work tend to describe him as a maker of gangster pictures, which isn't accurate. More than anything, when it comes to his crime stories, Scorsese seems interested in ethics-free outliers. He is interested in the kinds of people who have blithely detached from conventional morality, and whose bloody-minded drive toward law-flouting, cruelty, and murder became so widespread they came to color the character of America.
In short, Scorsese is drawn to tales of sociopaths because, as he tells it, sociopaths shaped the nation.

When Misty Copeland filmed the last scenes of the short Flower, she was, in her words, “very pregnant.” Not only was she blooming into motherhood, she was entering a new beginning as a producer and actor.
Flower is the first project from Copeland’s Life in Motion Productions, which she co-founded with fellow American Ballet Theatre dancer-turned-producer Leyla Fayyaz. Directed by Lauren Finerman and written by Fayyaz, the 28-minute short made its debut at the Tribeca Festival earlier this month, and it will be screened July 1 at the Lincoln Center’s Damrosch Park as part of its Summer in the City series.
The film follows Rose (Copeland) as she carries the weight of providing a home, caring for her dementia-suffering mother and teaching young ballerinas in her Oakland community, which is gentrifying at an alarming rate.

On June 22nd, 1993, Liz Phair released her debut album and indie rock masterpiece, Exile in Guyville. In honor of its 30th anniversary, the artist has shared a freshly unearthed outtake from the record, “Miss Lucy.” Check it out below.
Fans may recognize “Miss Lucy” from Phair’s Girly Sound tapes, which she spread around her home of Chicago before releasing Guyville properly (and has since reissued). But this version of the song was recorded with Brad Cook during the Guyville sessions, only to be left off the record in favor of the song “Flower.”
And like “Flower,” “Miss Lucy” is a salacious, brooding number that sees Phair flex her lowest register over a simple guitar riff, although its subject matter leans on the darker side. “And the boys and the boys, they are fucking/ And the girls and the girls, they are fucking/ And the girls and the boys, they...

Thirty years ago, Liz Phair released her indie-rock masterpiece Exile in Guyville, on June 22, 1993. It’s a massive moment in the history of the Weird Girl canon. Liz was just an ordinary twenty-something geek in the Chicago indie scene of Wicker Park, going out every night to see hipster bands, hanging out in dive bars, and getting her heart broken. It was a Guyville, where she was just another girl. But she had a secret that nobody knew: she was writing songs about the whole experience. And she was singing...

Sonic Youth will release a remixed and remastered LP of their final US performance, titled Live in Brooklyn 2011, on August 18th via Silver Current Records and digitally on Goofin’.
The 2xLP, 2xCD, or 2xTape collection follows a 2020 archival release that included the 2011 East River waterfront performance, or “The Last Show” as it came to be known by fans. Though the band subsequently toured South America before confirming their dissolution in November that year, the New York event served as a fitting conclusion with the group’s hometown connections and surprising, career-spanning set. Pre-orders are ongoing.
In a statement, drummer Steve Shelley shared, “For the Williamsburg Waterfront show I wrote out the setlist to present to the band and it was a lot of material we hadn’t played in a while, a lot of deep cuts, so I wasn’t sure if everybody would feel like doing it. After worrying...

Every time Blackpink has performed on stage at Coachella, it has been a history-making event. Their debut appearance there, on the Sahara stage back in 2019, marked the first time that a K-pop girl group performed on any of the festival’s stages. Fast forward four years, and the four-piece supergroup took the main stage for two weekends in a row to become the first K-pop group to be named headliners in Coachella’s 24-year history. Now that the event has wrapped for the year, Blackpink are finally taking it all in.

Jisoo of Blackpink has shared her first solo material, a two-track project called Me. Stream it below.

Photo: 'Journey' The Setting of a New Benchmark 2012 saw a deluge of franchise titles in the video game industry, including (but not limited to) ‘Far Cry 3’, ‘Mass Effect 3’, ‘Max Payne 3’, ‘Halo 4’, and so on seemingly into infinity. There were, however, also some original properties from both major studios and the independent market that are well worth remembering — perhaps the best of these being ‘Journey’, co-developed by Thatgamecompany and Santa Monica Studio. ‘Journey’ was originally released on the PlayStation 3, at a time when that console was going through a sort of Indian summer; despite having been out for six years already, it was seeing some of its strongest new titles. Despite being noted for its brevity, ‘Journey’ made an immediate impression with critics and audiences, to the point where its score (composed by Austin Wintory) became the first video game soundtrack to garner a Grammy nomination. “Content Warning: This film contains flashing lights, themes of trauma, and an unlikable female protagonist.”
That’s the opening salvo for Quinn Shephard’s “Not Okay,” It’s a canny opening for the “Blame” filmmaker’s whipsmart sophomore outing, winking at the familiar concerns of the generation she chronicles while, nodding at the woman at its heart and hinting at growth within. Being perpetually online sucks, but movies about it don’t have to, as “Not Okay” shows time and again.
Danni Sanders (Zoey Deutch) wants to be noticed, so badly, but while she lives in an age that makes it hard to hide, she’s still woefully ill-equipped for what that really means. And, as the film’s in media res opening makes clear, Danni has already a) taken her shot and b) flamed out in spectacular fashion. Sobbing, alone, and mortified, we meet Danni as she’s paging...

Nonprofit Outfest is celebrating its 40th anniversary with the kickoff of its 2022 edition on July 11, when the annual Los Angeles LGBTQ+ film festival will launch with new awards, programming and a lineup of over 200 screenings.
“One of the things that I really did like is that [the festival] wasn’t in June, because I think there’s this way of thinking about queerness as if it is siloed within the space of one month,” Outfest Artistic Director Faridah Gbadamosi told TheWrap in a recent interview. “I like the idea that it exists beyond the month of June because it kind of brings this idea that our identities can’t be siloed within the space of one month.”
Gbadamosi has been with Outfest for over a year, and she emphasized a collaborative approach to the programming for the Los Angeles festival, which this year was sensitive to the depiction and presentation of trauma...
