Image Source: Netflix The Crown has hooked fans all over the world onto the story of Queen Elizabeth II's road to he throne, as well as her personal life once she became the Queen of England. In season two of the hit Netflix series, we've seen a lot more about the queen's relationship with Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, and it's intense. While a TV show is simply a show, and not real life, this series does touch upon a lot of real events that have been documented throughout history. This season, at least in the first few episodes, the show has told the story of the queen (played by Claire Foy) and Philip (played by Matt Smith) as they spend time apart - five months while he's traveling for the crown - and rumors begin to surface about him having an affair, especially when his right-hand man,...

From Hollywood royalty having adorable babies to actual royalty getting engaged, the year wasn't without its heartwarming moments – but make no mistake about it, we got more than our fair share of heartache, tragedy and stomach-churning scandal to balance it out.
So let's take a look back at the past 12 months, and see some of the year's greatest highlights and darkest moments – as well as some those pop-culture zeitgeists that captured our attention, long enough for us to temporarily forget our woes.
[Note: We basically left out political stories from the list entirely, both out of a concern for brevity, and our own sanity.]
1. Two Sets of Twins!
February kicked off with a pregnancy announcement that dominated the news cycle unlike anything in recent memory, when Beyonce took to Instagram to gleefully reveal that she and Jay-Z were expecting twins.

The best way to get a TV deal for your web series? Don’t try. At least, according to Ben Sinclair and Katja Blichfeld that works, and they would know.
Sinclair and Blichfeld are the creators of “High Maintenance,” a brilliantly crafted, wholly original comedy that began its six-episode run on HBO last month. Sinclair and Blichfeld are the creators of “High Maintenance,” a brilliantly crafted, wholly original comedy that began its six-episode run on HBO last month. Sinclair also appears in the series, playing a weed delivery guy referred to simply as “the Guy,” who bikes to the homes of a parade of eccentric New Yorkers. The Guy has a kind of omniscient passport into the inner lives of the lonely, yearning, lost and downright looney people every New Yorker will recognize; if not from the subway, then from the mirror.

What was once renewed is now canceled.
Despite a second season renewal on its '70s rock drama Vinyl from Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger, HBO has made the decision to scrap those plans.
It's probably for the best.
Vinyl Season 1 certainly wasn't as well received as HBO would have hoped.
The series had an incredible cast (Bobby Cannavale, Olivia Wilde, Ray Romano) and a supporting team that should have moved mountains. It didn't.
At the end of a disappointing first season, co-creator and showrunner Terence Winter parted ways with the series.
Scott Z. Burns was hired as a replacing showrunner, but he never got to show his capabilities.
In fact, from what I understand, no scripts have even been delivered for what was to be a retooled second season.
Where Vinyl seemed to go wrong was losing focus on the music. The music was heavily in focus from a character perspective in the pilot.

You know that tentative alliance between Game of Thrones‘ Ser Davos and Melisandre? We’ve got a pretty good sense that it’s about to fall like a Bolton banner from Winterfell’s walls in the season finale, which airs Sunday (HBO, 9/8c).
Exhibit A: The look on Davos’ face in these new photos from the extended hour, which is titled ‘The Winds of Winter.’ That is not the countenance of a man ready to forgive and forget the Red Priestess’ role in his surrogate daughter’s death-by-fire, is it?
