A Jojo episode with less stands and more plot
This has to be one of the best episodes of the show. The balance between plot and action was using the golden ratio I swear, because I was fully engaged for the whole episode. People often skip over Stone Ocean, but when I saw this episode I was just left wondering how good Steel Ball Run and Jojolion are because this was beautiful. A deserved 10 and no lower.
The main focus of this is all on the relationship and backstory between 2 characters; I can say Pucci is one but the other is ultimately spoiling the plot so we'll redact their name. Araki put a lot of messages in here, including on Racism, the Environment and even something philosophy calls the doctrine of double effect, when an action with good intent reaps bad consequence. It really sets up later episodes but the messages it conveys really are different from my favourite, classic format of Jotaro punching a lot or Joseph using his brain to outsmart someone.
Overall, this was probably one of my favourite episodes this season, although not the only brilliant one. Netflix and David Production really pulled out all the stops here.
